    When I was a kid , I used to hate Dravid for his defensive playing style..I always wanted players like Sehwag, Sachin, Dada, Yuvi etc to be on the strike rather than Dravid cuz I hate how defensive he used to play but as the time flew by I understood how good he was & now a days when I watch test cricket on overseas the man I miss most is ironicaly Rahul Dravid..There can be a replacement for every player in the Indian team(not saying permanently but in short term)..but there won't never be a player like Rahul Dravid again specially in this t-20 cricket era...love u & miss u legend❤ sorry that I used to hate your batting as a kid

Dravid didn't know that Pakistan would be folded so cheaply in both their innings and went for a timely declaration, so it was PURELY in Team's interest. Same goes with Sachin, he also didn't had the magical powers to forsee that Bowlers would fail at defending 293 runs vs Bang.

    I watch these highlights every now and then and they make me incredibly emotional. A true legend.
    Would like to share a story about this amazing human. I live in Bangalore, and I was at a hair salon waiting for a friend when all of a sudden Rahul Dravid enters. I was told that he lived closeby and would get his haircut there but wasn’t expecting him to be there at the same time!! I couldn’t believe it to be honest.
    The receptionist asked him to wait, since there was no one free to attend to him. He asked her how much time he would have to wait and proceeded to sit quietly for atleast 30-40 mins reading stuff on his phone. He didn’t show impatience or feel disappointed or anything.
    I really wanted to get a picture with him but I stopped myself from bothering him. My icon was there to get a haircut, I didn’t want him to feel hounded even at a hair salon.
    Really miss The Wall coming into bat. Lucky to have lived in the same era as him.

      @rohitkhairwar7841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@ganeshadhilesh3592 It wouldn't have mattered which bowler was infront of Dravid when he's in such a form. If you would have carefully watched the video, the ball was swinging like anything and yet Dravid was countering it and scoring runs. He had already hit two consecutive hundreds in the same series before this double hundred. He saved the series for India alone handed. If you say this pitch was good for batting, then broad and Anderson would have suffered the same fate and if you look at Dravid's performance in previous test matches, he scored hundreds on bowling pitches. So, you can try to undermine Dravid's performance by saying that bowlers were not the best class but you forget Hoggar, Harmison Flintoff were legends for England too.

    • @rohitkhairwar7841
      @rohitkhairwar7841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@ganeshadhilesh3592 And there's no looking at the aspects of anything. When you play a match you play against the team you have against you. It's not Dravid's fault that Anderson and broad weren't playing for them at that time. If you go by the aspects then their could be a bowler who never played for India but if he would have played, he would have gotten 1200 wickets in test matches alone. So you can stop trying to undermine a player's performance if you aren't even half the player that guy is.

      @@rohitkhairwar7841 look mate, I'm not undermining Dravid's class and his skills, ik that he's great and had played great innings on difficult tracks. Don't get me wrong. I was replying to the main comment saying that these days, batsmen aren't able to score 50 while he had faced 450 balls. And that particular wicket was a slow, flat wicket (looking by the highlights) and absolutely no swing or bounce at all. So, any good batsman can score on that track, provided he doesn't throw his wicket away, and that's exactly what happened. Hoggard, harmison and flintoff were legends for England because they had won them the ashes 2005. Today's English attack is miles better statistically and technically than the one that played in this particular match.

Remember that opener from Delhi something Chopra before Gauti's rise, he was a permanent member of our team, solely because he used to held up one end. The way our team or in fact most of the teams are playing it's just gambling instead of sensible cricket. That's the same reason there are so few tests results in draws these days. I wonder if the new generation will even have the capabilities of appreciating the Good Old Days of Cricket

      It might be because Cricket has evolved a bit. You don't have to be technically sound batsmen to be successful even in test cricket anymore. For Ex. Steve Smith has an unusual stance and technique but still he is successful. Point is in order to compete in more demanding formats of cricket, in order to fulfill the hunger for entertainment, cricket is losing it's technical beauty. Again some might say it's evolving but per me few things need not to changed.

    Rahul Dravid!
    Is by far the best Batsmen I've ever seen in the last 16 years of me watching Cricket. Technique , Temperament , Determination , Skill and hard work are facets of this great man. Anyone can make runs when it is easy however Dravid in overseas test was by far superior to his colleagues. Winning 4 Man of the Series awards and 8 Man of the Match awards in overseas tests is outstanding. Dravid also had different gears he could play, He could be the one to score 91 not out off 114 balls in SCG test 2004 - I was there as a kid or he could make a 100 by being solid in testing conditions. Its actually sad to see some people say he is underrated because ask anyone who understands cricket properly they would tell you who Dravid was. Only those who do not know the essence of cricket could underrate him and not those who truly knew cricket. It was a privilege to be a kid living in Australia and cheering on Rahul Dravid during his peak in 2002-2006 and just to say hey I'm still as good as I was in 2011 VS England. I do not see there being another Dravid or even close.

      @vishalanandsingh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True. The art of spin bowling is dying in India. India no longer produces great spinners. And since there are no great spinners, the Indian batsmen do not receive sufficient training in domestic cricket to play quality spin bowling.

    When he used to play back then I was just a kid. I didn't know the technical aspects of cricket back then and used to think of dravid as boring and very slow batsman. But now watching his innings as an adult, I am a fan of him now. Every time he hits the ball the timing is so perfect that the sound is magical. His placement is excellent. Moreover he has a patience level that no other cricketer probably have or had. Just pure excellence.
