- With India in all sorts at 4/85 and some big guns back in the sheds, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman came together during the second Test of the 2003-2004 series. The two belted a partnership of 303 as the Australian bowlers had no answers to the dominant display.

Everyone's talking about Laxman and Dravid (hats off to them) but let us all take a moment and appreciate Cricket Australia's TH-cam channel , I mean they always show us phenomenal stuffs and the presentation is on next level. Thank You CA for keeping the game alive.

Those days when Dravid and Laxman were like a Dangerous Nightmare for the opposition. Two living legends!
They reserved their best against the sledges. Those two were a nightmare for the Aussies. Gem of cricketers. Gentlemen.
Especially for Australia 😂
Say right
Batting for such long periods shows their immense concentration levels
In 2023 virat and gill distroy Australia like them not think in partnership
The techniques of Dravid and Laxman were just so textbook and perfect!!!
everyone in that era had a stylish n unique technique , be it sehwag , Yuvraj , Ganguly , Sachin , Dravid or Lax. These days technique is less focussed upon and players go for power , maybe that is the only reason we keep choking in ICC K.O stages

Has Sachin ever played a crucial innings for India??
Those early morning days.
2003 finished 10th standard and was relaxed in 11th standard and jr college use to be morning time hence I use to get up early and atleast watch an hour or two of these series.
This series will forever be in my memory.
Funny, how I remember so many of personal achievements from this series and when compared the same with recent series I hardly remember anything.
This partnership and then in Sydney Sachin innings of 241 was incredible.
I still remember in this Adelaide match, Australia didn't dismiss Dravid and hr played twice and scored 300+ combined.
Can so relaate to this.I was in my 2nd year Engineering and ws during our internals.Plan wss to to get up early and study but was glued on tv .Even now remember each and every thing about this series. Back then beating Australia in Australia was just unthinkable. Like u mentioned funny how we dont remember much abt recent series but remember everythinh so clearly abt series back then. The good ol days of pre social media life.
Same remember watching this series on ESPN. Waking up early to watch sehwag scoring brilliant hundred at mcg and this partnership those winning hit by dravid at adelaide. Time really flew very very fast.
I was in 4th standard, would get up at 4 am and switch on the TV to watch a match. Don’t see kids nowadays studying in 4th standard doing so. I remember every single series india played since NatWest 2002, ct 2002, West Indies tour of India in Diwali 2002, then India’s nz tour, memorable 2003 wc, tvs cup 2003, this series in Australia and VB series where Zimbabwe was third opponent. What a golden days❤❤❤
I was a kid then in my 6th Standard..All i could understand of this was that there is a match going on between india and Australia and india is batting..
Just wanted to watch..didn't know much about the intricacies of test match ..
But still watched..Just knew that when a team is winning and when it is not...
I am in 10th class in 2023 and one day I'll be talking same about 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy series and Virat kohli's incredible knock. This hurts the most🥺. King is not gonna play for a long time😭😢.Time flies away. The loss of 2019 world cup is still in my ♥. I want to become a cricketer and to win a world cup for my country but my parents are not supporting me a very little in my carrer 😣.There is only one life and we have to try once what we want to do because failures don't hurt but regret does.
Lost my father in 2000...only joy for me was these cricket matches during those years

I rate this partnership at par with the Kolkata stand. Trailing by almost 500 runs with 6 wkts remaining in a country you haven't won for 22 years - also the giants of that era. I know McGrath and Warne were missed in this series, but don't forget that these bowlers have bowled some amazing spells in cricket history as well.
True and well said. However Eden is just a little bit more special and only by a wee bit because we won after following on.
I think Adelaide is up there in terms of the challenges posed. 4 down for 85 in Australia, trailing by 470 odd runs! What are the chances of even beginning to believe that we can do it from there.
Yes Kolkata will be the greatest, but Adelaide is right there on top as well.
Definitely one of the greats but Kolkata remains the best. It came while following on as well.
VVS shots are poetry in motion. Such class
This is pure Cricket. An excitement for 1-2 days.
Way better than the 1000 other 20-20 being played today.
I don't even consider 20-20 as cricket it's just an alternative to movies maybe.

If we look at any important test victory outside India (some in India as well) , we will mostly have either Dravid or VVS, or both as signigicant contributor. Absolute legends.
Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly 🔥🔥. What a middle order that was !! One of the greatest

This test series always remembered for Indian cricket team exceptional performance..
303 runs pathnership stand by Dravid and VVS. Then 241 runs inning by Sachin Tendulkar at Sydney in the very next match.. 141 runs inning from the bat of Dada at Bribrane, Gaba..
Anil Kumble perfect replay of Shane Warne bowling...

These two gentlemen were a treat to watch. Especially Laxman.
Especially his effortless cover drives were just ❤️❤️
Masters of cricket on both sides , awesome and simple days..
The best two test entertainers of their era watching them both together is a treat.
Those pure timing ground shots with cricket bats that were just cricket bats and not baseball. And that crowd that cheered for the home team in Australia, unlike now when Indians dominate in crowd at every Aussie ground too - this video is throwback to days which won't be in fashion ever again, and be almost like a folklore for future generation.
P.S.: It's a thrill to see Indian crowd in Australia the way it is these days, especially myself being an Indo-Aussie, but the purity of this video is something else.
How sad , bro india is literally ruining the sport. I am Indian, but I lost interest after 2019 ODI world cup. Since then I never watched a match on the TV. There's no enjoyment in the game when only Indians play and Indians watch. The sports is kind of dead in all commonwealth nations except India.
2015 ODI world cup was great ,but after that cricket is on decline.
Childhood memories..huge fan of rahul dravid💚
Those childhood days…when BRITANIA meant a bat manufacturing company for us. This video is 13 mins of pure nostalgia…!!❤️
Those drives by Dravid.... Absolutely immaculate....
Was present at the Eden Gardens during the 2001 epic partnership. No wicket lost during a day. But this was on per. Only one country that stood up to Australia those days be it home or abroad and that was India.
The boundary @ 5:31 by VVS was just a flick & it raced to the boundary. He was on a midas touch that day.
So happy to see one of my favorite umpires
"Late Mr. David Shepherd" 🙌

After the historic performance in crucial moment at Eden Garden(2001), this duo again showed their own class against the Aussie through their another classic exhibition of batting in another crucial situation at Adelaide Oval(2003).....
I remember watching it when I was a kid. I turned off the TV after Ganguly got run out. Next morning I wake up and see Dravid has scored a century!
How did you not trust these 2 even after Kolkata 2001?

@@anweshchatterjee7595 In those days, 4 down under 100 was a death sentence. But since then I have seen Brendon Mccullum & BJ watling revive NZ from 94/5 to 600+ and Also Partnership between Laxman and Ishant Sharma in Mohali 2010. And now after seeing India score 48 in 3 overs, Mehidy Hassan taking Ban score from 60/6 to 270...anything is possible. I will never say anything is impossible. Which is why I kept watching the recent test despite flat track hoping that Jaddu/Ash will get them allout for 200 and India will chase 100 runs in 15 overs.
2 legends playing real test match. Dravid and laxman 🙌🏼 nowadays test match feel fade away

Agarkar got 6 fer and India won the game. So it was a critical partnership
Those days are gone when our players used to play sessions after sessions without failing any wickets and piling up big partnerships and dominating spinners
I think McGrath and Warne were not playing, but that doesn’t take the shine off of Dravid and Laxman’s superb batting. Some of the shots are just wow...And the commentary by Tony Greig, Ian Chappell and Bill Lawry...icing on the cake.
I remember the Aussie coach was cocky about winning the series 3-0, but in the end, they have to scramble for the draw😊
Mcgrath and Warne were both playing in the 2001 kolkata test and could do nothing
they played well but I think the Aussie bowlers didn't bowl particularly well overall other than Bichel. this series had excellent batting pitches in general too.
Sehwag takes back to back wickets of Gilchrist, Brett Lee at Perth. Late the great Tony Greg “ How come he didn’t play a test prior to this” ( he was out in first two). Truly a difference maker.
VVS Laxman & dravid on fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 stand
I will never forget this Match.. I have seen this match Live and it was a match winning partnership followed by Agarkar's great spell.
In this series, this partnership did set the tone for the Indian Team
Fighting spirit in a pure way.. Its so satisfying to watch the whole day of test match 😊

VVS is like making look the world's most attacking bowling unit as gully cricket bowling. Absolutely toying. And Dravid like reading text book and implementing.

The flair & ease with which VVS played away from his body (both sides) is unmatched. India held the mighty Aussies. Sehwag 195, Ganguly 143, Ponting consecutive double tons wow
cannot imagine this level of batting against such quality bowling attacks..with 4 wickets down against a mammoth 1st innings total.. and they did it many times.. 2001 kolkata is another example
Rahul Dravid was simply outstanding in this test match.. 233 & 72* completely drained the Aussie bowlers...
Those cover drives from Dravid and effortless strokes from Laxman made my day again. May be it was from this match Laxman was called as very very special Laxman. Golden days of cricket against strong teams
This is the series where India started turning into a good travelling Test side. Ganguly did the unimaginable and should take all the credit for turning India into a great Test side and also taking us to WC 2003 Final.
Post the match-fixing saga of 1999, Indians were leaving cricket and many I knew started hating it. From there, Ganguly built a team of honest and passionate cricketers who took us to several laurels. Thanks Dada.
So much class..even the celebrations. The shake of the hand.
