    Can't believe this was KP's first test series. He played like a very experienced batsman and was one of the major reasons for England's victory.

      Indeed, KP was a big storm when he arrived to international cricket, stats can't define the impact of the player. I also believe that nowadays cricket lacks competitiveness.

    That opening spell from Harmison is one of the most underrated ever.
    Liding Hayden and Ponting and hitting Langer in the Elbow.

    • @Banzybanz
      @Banzybanz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      How much difference does a good/bad opening spell make for setting the tone for the entire series?
      Compare this to Harmisson's first ball of the 2006-07 Ashes.
      Here England lost the first Test, but the fiery bowling was a sign of things to come.

    What a bowler McGrath was. Even though James Anderson has surpassed him, he will never be close to what McGrath was. A fast bowler who was pinpoint accurate in all conditions and extremely successful in Asia as well. His match-ups with Sachin and Lara were just a treat to test cricket lovers. Salute Legend!

      We still have the classic wooden stumps (with the little mikes and cameras) and they make the same sound when hit.
      Earlier this week, I was driving back home during the post lunch session of the 5th day of the 4th Test of the England vs India series. Put the commentary on. Very very clearly heard Hameed, and especially Pope and Bairstow's stumps rattle. Didn't even pay attention to what the commentators were saying then, the stumps rattling and crowd roar was enough to tell me a wicket had fallen.

    In 1990s to 2000 this Australian team was perfect in all aspects. Domination... indians used to pray that we should win against them at all. odds... Shane Warne,lee,mcrath,gilly,kaspr9vitz,etc .. batting was 7 batsman lineup which has Gilchrist at no 7 ... likes of ponting,martin ,hayden ,leman ,etc.... they set examples to win repeatedly world cups... until india came back at 2011...

    I’m an Aussie and I wholeheartedly agree, this was the best test series ever. The final score did not belie the contest, it only needed a couple of things to happen different and Aussie would have won. Warne dropping Pietersen early, Lee falling just short at Edgebaston. England were so good, Jones, Harmison, Flintoff, Hoggard.. Aussie’s bowlers stood tall in the absence of McGrath. Something that will never be forgotten.
