    I have to say, listening to Robert on drums over the years, and listening to his philosophy about our role as drummers in a band, has been extremely educational. What I've learned about myself through Robert is that I hit the drums too damn hard! Since coming to this conclusion so many things have been improved, mainly my dynamics and tempo. I never made the correlation between speed and stick height before and was working way too hard and getting no where.

    Unpopular opinion. Dont like it. No groove, just chops. Zzz. Don't get the feels. Its also too difficult to follow along because its insanely complicated to play. Its technically amazing but as 'music' has no feel or groove and is just boring IMO. No Soul either.

    • @SirBoopBoop
      @SirBoopBoop 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your opinion is yours, and I respect it, but I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. Your comparison is like saying math is too complicated when you've only just learned basic addition/subtraction. Granted, if you haven't listened to a lot of funk or jazz it might feel unfamiliar. That I understand, but the groove, the feel, and the soul is there. If you can't feel it and everyone else here can, that's on you bruv... An open musical mind goes a long way. Expose yourself to all kinds of music to gain more perspectives and experiences of grooves and feels. Listen to everything from classical, rock, metal, hiphop, pop, jazz, EDM, music from other cultures, avant garde, and everything in between.
