I totally agree with you. The reviews tend to be totally unfiltered! And gives a true picture of what the guitar is actually like. Keep up the good work
I've had 4 classic vibes and they've all been tremendous. I picked up a Classic Vibe 70's strat last year quite cheap and had a really great time modifying it. I've got a Fender American Pro II Strat which is a very nice guitar but that Squier strat is much closer to it than you'd expect given the price difference.
@@kristfur None were necessary to be clear. I upgraded the electronics to my liking. The original pickups were quite nice tough. Better pots and pickups selector switch was a good one. I changed the cosmetics to my liking. I did some fretwork to make a good neck great and decked the bridge because I didn't want to use the vibrato. They were all worth it to me because I got to personalize it. I'd say if you can do the work yourself mod to your hearts content but in my opinion it's not necessary to invest a bunch of money into them because they are good guitars out of the box.
i went through a period of buying and selling for about a decade. I tried dozens of guitars under $1000 and had about 5 Classic Vibes. Each one was excellent and as a person who started in the 80s when guitars were either expensive or garbage I was very impressed.
My classic vibe 50's telecaster is the guitar I grab most often. Plays great, sounds great. I did replace the pots, switch and tone cap. I've owned Japanese fender 50's teles and American ones and the C.V. holds its own.
Great as always sir!! Just got my birth year guitar: 1974 Strat and I love it. Been heavily loved over its 48 years - refret, 80s USA Kahler installed, tuners changed, pots and pups are original however, it is FANTASTIC!!
Loved that video - great to hear someone enthusing about their 'thing', especially if the thing is guitars! My first 'child' was a Squire - an '83 Strat purchased in '84, lovingly cradled on the bus all the way home at the time - it's had a few tiny dinks and scratches along the way, but haven't we all? - it's a sign of having lived a life, and like it's owner, needs a bit of a spruce up now and then. I'm no player, just love being able to noodle a bit and learn some of my favourite songs. I've since acquired a Gibson and a couple of Fenders, and I'll buy a few more yet, but the '83 Squire Strat will be the one that's buried with me.....hopefully all in good time....! Cheers to you all!
@Halloween Jack - I'm in the U.S., & Know someone with an '83 or '84 Fender Bullet Strat. It has a telecaster style head and 3 single coils. It has a blue star outline at the left side of the logo. I just wonder if it's what you are you are talking about. It being a Fender Bullet Strat Vs. A Squier? Maybe?😉
Great video. I too was spending a small fortune on collecting Gretch guitars. I have recently retired. The past couple of months I purchased a Vintage brand V100 HH and a 59 limited edition Epiphone Les Paul. What craftsmanship for a fraction of the cost. The quality far surpasses the cost of the 2 guitars. Please keep the videos coming.
I have a 2013 classic vibe '60s jazz bass and a 2020 Squier bullet telecaster, both completely stock and they feel, play and sound just as good as my Fender models and custom builds. Keep these videos coming, I appreciate the honesty you put into them. Where other reviews are scripted by the manufacturer and those guys are playing the part of corporate yes boys. You definitely have a lifetime viewer with me. Cheer's
I just got into guitar in my 30's and all of mine so far are Squiers. I've got the J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster, The CV 70's Strat and a bullet tele. When I take them in to get setup, the guys at my local shop are always blown away by the quality of them. They can't believe they're under 500 bucks. I think my next one will be the Squier Paranormal Super-Sonic (which might be neat to take a look at, kind of a weird one), but this CV 70's Tele deluxe is definitely next up after that.
You are on fire, dude. Great to see a different style of guitar on the bench and even happier to see that you found another affordable axe to enjoy. Have a good weekend, Colin. Mind how you go
I bought this in all black last year. I put thicker strings on and tuned it to D. The guy had to file the nut a bit so it won't go horribly out of tune when playing notes on the first few frets. Besides that, I haven't changed anything. I like the guitar, it sounds good, it's really resonant!
I've had a few CVs over the years and all were really good but I never got by the "Squier" logo on the headstock. I am starting to get over it though and your assessment of the build quality and tone is spot on. I had a CV Duo Sonic in Desert Sand and regret selling it. What a fun guitar! Thanks for the great videos man. Cheers!
I was same with my old Squier CV Telecaster & ended up selling to get a Fender Vintera, and I regretted it massively and wish I still had me CV Squier. Gotta pluck the courage to sneak a new one past the missus now 😂😂
Hi colin. Great demo on the classic vibe tele. Squires are rearly good as you have shown. You made me smile about people buying surf green classic vibe jaguars, I got one and it is a lovely guitar. My favourite guitar is my 2015 mexican fsr butterscotch blackguard tele, with a fender custom shop 51 nocaster pickup in the neck £50 on ebay, and a hand made bridge pick up from Route 66 pickups ( a guy from Bury st edmunds area makes these) £50 from pete at sounds plus roadhouse guitars in bury st eds.
Complete control! Great video again Colin! I have the pervious iteration, the Vintage Modified Telecaster Deluxe with the Fender branded pickups, also in Olympic White. Fantastic guitar! I think that Squier basically lifted the 72 Custom, Deluxe and 72 Thinline from that range, changed the neck tint and frets. This model feels purpose built for punk and reggae. Stay Free!
I recently sold my Squier C.V. 50's Tele for reasons that are still unclear to me. I paid $250 for it, used, not expecting much. I was astounded on how good it was.
In the last few years I think both Squier and Epiphone have really come on leaps and bounds. The designs are a bit more interesting than some of the models offered by their parent companies.
Squier has been upping the ante since 2005 and keep improving! I’m not a real Gibson fan. I’ve had them and Fender but always seem to enjoy their imports more. Go figure🤪🤪🤪 The affinity of this model also looks like a good buy. I had the affinity Starcaster and it was enjoyable but alas an acquired taste that I couldn’t overcome the headstock but it played well!
Nice review of incredibly great series of guitars that are the "Classic Vibe" line up. I had one Fender Squier Telecaster Avril Lavigne Signature, Odd one as it has only one Humbucker pickup that I sold last week. The 3 way switch is used to split the bucker into dual single coil. Not as versatile as the true dual single coil, it did have a nice voice. Thanks for another great "Break Down and Play" demo, you really keep the BS out of your videos and I love it. Take care.
Fell in love with the Telecaster Deluxe after seeing Graham Coxon playing one. (Live at the Zodiac) Would love to own one but right now it's all about Les Pauls with P-90s for me!
I saw this and went to PMT in Birmingham and bought one. It has served me well so far. I've thought about having the pickups out and replacing them with some Alnico2's from The Creamery... but, she sounds alright as she is. I'm gonna hang on to it for now and see how it goes during the next project I get involved in....
Yep... I've found most of the classic vibe series to be better than the made in Mexico or( player) series fenders I've played ...for half the cost. So why not!?!? Paying half the cost and I don't care what the headstock says! They are typically amazing guitars! ✌️
Another great video from you! I've always had a soft spot for the 70's teles especially the custom with the wide range in the neck and single coil in the bridge. this deluxe sounds and looks really nice.
G&L are very good guitars. The neck profile up near and beyond the nut is so comfortable. How do you like the humbucker in the neck position? I haven't opened mine up yet to determine the pot value or cap value on the humbucker, but mine sounds a bit dark and muffled. Other than that, love mine in blonde with tortoise guard.😎👍 😎👍❤😞
@@ditchgator1 Hi there. I also have one and find the humbucker very dark. I had to get a luthier to lower the strings on the nut as it would go sharp when you pressed notes at the nut end. Also one screw on the bolt on neck was stripped. I suspect that the humbucker needs a 500k pot but the pots are 250k which is only correct for single coils and that's why the humbucker is too dark. The pickups combined sound fantastic as does the bridge pickup. More like a P90 than a regular tele...which is great!
My 1st electric guitar was a Classic Vibe Custom Tele, the double bound one. Brilliant guitar, only gripe was how statically the pick guard would get. I ended up trading it along for a Godin Session Hss but I do miss it. Well put together guitar. Think when I double back to a Tele though I'll grab the Sire T7 vintage.
I have a 2008 vintage modified telecaster custom, black, I took all thr wiring out and pickups put pit seymour duncan seth lovers and re wired it new pots, put fender locking tuners on it and brass saddles.....love it...
FS1E !! I had one in 75. At the time it was the best thing I think it even topped 45 mph if you lay along the tank and had the wind behind you. Happy days.
I’m also a huge fan of Squire CV. I have a Starcaster and a 50’s butterscotch Tele. Now the Tele is a heavy beast (pine) but it’s a great axe! I did have a 50’s CV Strat that I couldn’t bond with so I sold it.
Great video, and a guitar that is high on my possibles list. Your story towards the end of the video is a bit like mine - I had avoided "affordable" guitars having been forced to suffer them as a youngster. Now I'm as thrilled to discover the joys of a Harley Benton Jazzmaster knock off as I am unboxing a £1500 PRS. Having had the scratch plate off, can you judge whether there's enough space in the routing for full-size pots. Keep up the excellent output.
Great review as always! Loved that Punk Interlude, I really dig your playing style and the sounds you make! This guitar is on my list of the guitars I want to get next, but I would get first the Squier Telecaster Custom CV because I want that single coil in the bridge, they say it has more bite than a regular single coil on other Teles. I wonder how it would compare to your Fender 70's Custom... Cheers!
I had an original 1973 Fender Tele deluxe (although neck pocket was dated 1972), in I believe what they called Walnut. Bought it brand new for 300 with case sold it 5 yrs ago for 10 times that. Personally I could never bond with it if that makes sense and if I remember correctly it weighed a ton.
it's a fact that the modern day classic vibe squire's and " new " 2020 inspired by gibson epiphones are absolute good guitars and that with some upgraded parts you will have an guitar that's on par with the american made production line fenders and gibsons ( maybe even with the custom range , although that's maybe reaching to far ) , but anyway's , cost / perfomance wise , these guitars deliver big time . on another note : it is funny though how taste will differ , i really hate tele's with 2 humbuckers and a strat headstock : ) , i can understand and like a humbucker in the neck position on a tele , but i really want to see the tele headstock , great work as alway's colin , cheers , greets from holland
That’s bullshit. You can mod a Squier all you want and follow along with the idiots on the message boards that swear by it, but at the end of the day you’re just dressing up a Squier. You will never convince me that a Pao Farro fingerboard feels as good as a quality Maple or Rosewood. I’ve tried modding my fair share of Squiers (including a J Mascis JM) and at the end of the day, i rarely play any of them anymore because they just don’t play nearly as well as some of my higher quality and pricier guitars.
My first decent guitar was a black CMI Tele Deluxe copy. It had standard humbuckers rather than wide range style, but it looked the part, and played nicely. It's one of those guitars I wish I'd kept, but I sold it to raise money for my first real Fender Tele, a 1970's one. I had that for a coupe of years, then managed to get a 1966 one, which I still have, and which has been my main guitar for over forty years. But when I got the '66, I noticed something about the 70's one - it was the wrong shape. It turned out that in the early 70's, CBS replaced the original Fender body routers, and the new ones couldn't replicate the little curve on the upper bout that leads into the neck pocket, so they just did it a bit shallower, and once you spot it, you can't unsee it. It's disguised a bit by the curve of the scratchplate, but most Tele Deluxes from that era are that 'wrong' shape, which makes this one the wrong shape, but also the right shape!
Cheers man, I knew about that... I have two 70's Tele's and they are both wrong shape! you can see the difference where the body shoulder meets the fretboard. 😆👍
@@theguitaristas I didn't really want to get rid of mine, it was a nice guitar - see throughish blonde, black scratchplate, rosewood fingerboard, but the shape looked weird next to the '66!
the first guitar i bought with flat out cash. it’s a very versatile “les paul esc” guitar if you want to get those solid body humbucker tones. lovely guitar for the price.
I kinda have same backstory, guitar mad as a teen had about 12 at 1 stage, ,just regular guitars, tho a white Fender strat among them,& a black 'Westbury by Vox' which at time was my favourite, a lawsuit Suzuki Hummingbird, no internet in 70's didn't know it's worth. Sold all by age of 30. Lockdown got me started againbought a squier tele, then a Gretsch jet. I found your channel on same day I got a Gretsch streamliner 2622, you reviewed same model & colour, today decided to get a classic vibe 70's tele & I come across this video, Karma is it?? This one will be the last, for a while at least, keep up the good work mate, great videos for another guitar addict
LOVE that guitar. Very nostalgic for me, they were in the stores when I was a teenager. Never like them until I saw it in a magazine ad in Olympic White; whole different story. VERY COOL! I thought of this as Fender's Les Paul. FYI, the first F-Tuners were made down the street from Fender in a deal Leo made with a machinist friend. They made each individual part and assembled them. When they couldn't keep up with demand, they turned to Schaller, who made the ones people thought were crap; Schaller making crappy tuners? Go figure. I had a black '71 Thinline, excellent humbuckers, and the F-tuners were tight, stable and great feeling. FYI: On all my teles I use a Les Paul jack plate. The traditional Tele one just seems stupid and is always a pain in the ass. GREAT VIDEO!
I just ordered one of these off of reverb for $400. I’m going to take it to get set up once it gets here, I’m considering putting a mint pickguard on it and having them sand off the gloss on the back of the neck. I keep hearing it’s too “sticky”
Nice vid again. Bit naughty getting one with scratchy pots but rather than replacing a good squirt of Deoxit usually does the trick (any automotive contact spray might work but the most exp is worth the investment over the years I think in this case). I disagree that the electronics let the Squier CV range down. Personally, I would upgrade the metal hardware if anything and maybe especially so on the strat trem if you want floating. Even that though is way off essential or even particularly necessary, IMO. I now have a Squier CV 50s Tele which I am a fan of and just bought a CV 60s Strat that's fine for home use and local gigs even (again IMO). The strat came with a full set up incl of PLEK (hardly any extra here from my chosen shop). Versus the other one, it's nice to have everything just so but the PLEK is not essential, I thought, but enough of a difference that I would take it again if that offer stands. I too have a couple of expensive guitars but really, for what I care about, as go-to guitars (no great guitarist but like classic stuff) the CVs are all I need to satisfy my first world issues. Sure I like nitro but the CV Strat finish is beautiful in its own right and the thing is not heavy and better balanced than my now old MIM standard Strat.............Knocking it out of the park with no actual need to change a thing for anything remotely local (again IMHO)..............
Kia ora I just inherited my dads tele like this one and took it in to my local music shop to get it looked at and repair what needed fixing firstly he said my dad played it with the heaviest gauge strings and the neck was bent I cant wait to pick it back up and treasure it
I have a Black Vintage modified telecaster deluxe squire and love it. It has Fender stamped Korean made wide range pickups. I play it more than my Mex Strat and Epiphone les Paul.
Hi Colin. Nice video again. You have to give the cv thinline 69 tele a go. I bought mine from a guy who was upgrading to the mex version of the same guitar. He tried to buy the cv back from me because the mex wasn't as good. I will never sell, it's my go to, i love it.
I got the natural wood finish of that CV and I agree is ever better to this 70s one in the video. Put Fender wide range pickups on that and it makes it even better. Super light and super smooth to play.
Nice guitar,i just bought a 70's Thinline squier in 3t sunburst, and i will modified it but the boss of the shop saids that i will be surprises with the sound and looks, tomorrow he will bring it to my house, that's the service he gives...ain't that great😁😉
@@robindanneels3750 I think overall its really great but no doubt could be improved... see how you feel but it won't really need anything to sound good!
I just picked up a used one today from my local guitar shop. Its the exact same guitar you are showing here, white color all the same. Reason being is that I have always wanted a tele with a humbucker in the bridge, and also one I could modify/improve as I go forward. Not a fan of the heavily lacquered neck so that will be the first change/mod.
Just Subscribed, Wonderful channel ! I do the same thing, I’m a builder and the Squiers are amazing. It’s cheaper to buy one complete then to build from scratch.
I went down a rabbit hole with the wide range humbuckers on the road to picking up a secondhand mexican roadworn one of these. The original wide range was designed with magnetic adjustable CuNiFe pole pieces and oversized bobbins as they were weaker magents than bar magnets. The CuNiFe material was produced up until about 1981 for use in car speedometers. When the material was no longer available they stopped making the wide range buckers
OH YEAH! I love the white, I have a Squire Affinity Tele from Indonesia... this one is Butterscotch. It was a "special" run with real Fender pups. It sounds fantastic. I will probably replace the tuners and I ordered a red tortoise shell pickguard. As I always say.... a tele is like a belly button. Everybody should have one. CHEERS! Great review as always...thanks Colin
@@theguitaristas I got a FREE guitar yesterday. Now I have a big problem. 13 guitars. That is soooo unlucky. What can I do? Sell one? No way... I already have to put new tuners and a nut on it to make is playable. I might have to get another guitar to get me over the FEAR of 13 guitars. no wife to tell me No so it's time to go searching.
Curious about what you would think of the Mexican Vintera series Tele's that are going for almost the same amount of money as the lower end American tele's. On paper they are the most period correct specs outside of custom shop, even the original 50s and 60s series that sits just over 2,000$ is modified (modernized specs).
hey folks! i ve just bought one of this deluxe, great piece of monster! in comparison to vintera and squier custom the output pickups are louder.. strange but true… lost the competition with am vintageII but is placed in another planet and costs 5 time more here in italy
Just stopping by today, I have a Squier Bullet Limited Edition telecaster is red sparkle flake finish that I picked up for about $119.00 USD a few years back. No high frets and the setup is 100% perfect... very awesome guitar. I write and record commercially licensed music under performance rights organization, BMI. And the telecaster fits at least seven genres of music that I write and record in. Such a brilliant guitar. I really like the sound and demo music you are playing, reminds me of Elliot Easton from my favorite band "The Cars"... As an older 1970s/1980s guy myself I understand what you are saying in the video. That sound of the tele' for classic rock and even pop brings me WAY back, and think you'll agree on that. The last thing that I like to say (and yes, as an old guy, I can ramble a lot), these guitars look, sound and play very well and the lower prices keeps more money in my pocket.. And that to me, is a win/win. Thank You for reading my comment, have a great weekend, stay safe out there. - Mr.Tom
Hey Mr Tom, thanks for stopping by and for the support it's appreciated! You are bang on... the groove on this jam definitely started with my having Elliot Easton in mind... but it then seemed to morph into a few other popular 70's / 80's tunes! 😆👍 Cheers man good to hear from you.
Love this one, got the same for $300 open box and dropped some P90s in a new pickguard, rewired the stock controls for 50s and ran with it. Gotoh saddles fit fine if you dont favor the OG bent steel Strat saddles Worth saying its a bona fide Strat neck with the curved neck heel, not the flat Tele heel. Doesn't at all need a neck swap but will take all kinds of interesting Fender necks of various profiles and various degrees of roasting... 😊
So good Colin, yet another guitar on my radar. Thanks for the positive personal insights as well. What makes your channel so worthwhile? Of course the videos being posted at 6pm, my time, helps ease me nicely into the weekend. But, what I have realised is that when I feel the need for a bevvie refill, or a requirement to placate the family or dog, I pause your videos so that I don't miss a thing. I don't normally do that when watching my other subscription channels... so there's that.
I too am I fan of the big headstock. My teacher in the 80s had a Strat with one. One of my guitar heroes at the time had one (the Edge). Its what I thought a Strat was. It was sometime later I found out it was not the original design. When I returned to guitar 2+ years ago, first purchase was an American made Strat with a big headstock. The Tele sounds good. Played a used Squire Tele in our local shop this past week. It was set up great, didn't plug it in, but feel wise it was on par with instruments many times its price. For $179 someone is going to get great Tele.
It looks and sounds like the Fender! I accidentally bought a 74 Fender, in 1982 in a pawn shop for $400. Of course I sold it too soon. But these Squiers are the next best thing. Especially for the price. Now I’m feeling the need to get one.
nice video on the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster, if you want some affordable guitar suggestions, you should try the Ibanez versions of Telecasters and Stratocasters. they have some that are similar to Squier. of course there's also there own RG line some people call Super Strats, there's also Jackson. i don't think they do Telecaster style guitars, but they are similar to the RG from Ibanez. alot of people say there more suitable for heavy metal the way there design, but there's plenty of Ibanez players in the 70's that didn't play a fast shredding style of music. there's also EVH something Eddie Van Halen is known for, i don't know too much about there guitars. you mentioned the Mexican Player Series Stratocasters and Telecasters, you definitely will be surprised how they good are in the last year in a half they came out with them. it's a replacement for the old Mexican Standard Fender Strats and Tele, but even on the American Fender side, they dropped the Standard name which is kind of weird. im so used to the word Standard, but the name change surprisingly has gotten alot of younger people to look at Fender. Gibson is the only one besides Epiphone that still uses the standard. now when you check Fenders website for American made Fenders, the Fender Stratocaster Performer is now there entry level guitar, and the American Pro II is now there Standard, and obviously you have custom. the Mexican has the Player which is a replacement for there Standard line, and the Player Plus is a replacement for the Deluxe.
The Squier I've seen are very high quality fit and finish! I'm not a fan of the 70's headstock especially on a tele and the belly cut on this one looks different/weird. I do like the 70's models However. Thanks for showcasing this affordable tele!
Totally agree Colin the Squire classic vibe series are fantastic guitars an addictive Had the 72 thinline tele with the wide range pickups an regret trading it on till this day Will get another one day Keep up the good work bud
I love my Gibson Les Pauls however I thought I would try a tele for something different. I didn't want to invest a lot in case I didn't like it so I got a Limited Edition Bullet Telecaster from Musicians friend for $137 new. It was made in Indonesia and is a pretty nice guitar. I liked the neck (which is important to me) so I upgraded the Tele. I got a set of Vintage Fender pickups for around $100, a complete wiring harness with 4 way switch from 920D for around $100 and a set of Hipshot tuning machines for around $70. I rolled the fretboard edges, touched up the nut and did a basic setup. It has turned into a really nice guitar for less than $400. I am well pleased! If for some reason I ever decide to trade it, I will just put the old parts back in. Currently Fender player series Telecasters are going for $850. I have less than 1/2 of that in mine and it sounds and plays awesome! I'm VERY happy with the results and it was fun doing the mods. If I were to do it again (which I might) I would go with the Classic Vibe Just for the better neck finish and body. Since I already have all the upgrade parts I could just move them over to the new guitar.
Great and fun video! I haven't tried a Squier CV nor have I tried many sub $500 US guitars but there are lots of good guitars in the $500 to $1,000 range. I have a Schecter PT Special T-style for $600, a Yamaha Pacifica 612FM for $650 and a PRS S2 Satin singlecut for $1,050 (OK it's over a $1,000 but close) and all of these are great guitars. The PRS might be my favorite but the others sound and play great.
Hey Guitarista, I'm 54 and I began playing guitar very late at 18. I loved Led Zeppelin, but I always played Stratocasters and Telecasters. Later I started buying Paul Reed Smith. For a Jimmy Page fan I was a Strat guy. In 2014 I bought my first Epiphone Les Paul a 1960 Tribute Plus but it just wouldn't stay in tune, after I bought 3 more Epiphone Les Pauls and the same happened they wouldn't keep tune. So I said to myself "I will never buy a Gibson." In the last month I bought two Gibsons and I am a converted man.
I recently purchased a Fender Telecaster Deluxe with mercury paint for $1,686. I’m by no means rich but this guitar was worth every fucking penny! The absolute best sounding and best guitar to play that I own. My other guitars are a 1967 Fender Telecaster, a 1967 Gibson ES 330TDC, and a 1984 Fender Flame Standard - all absolutely wonderful original guitars- but the 2024 Tele Deluxe is still the greatest.
Great Video Colin. I own one Squier and it cut up my hand so bad. Its now just hanging on the wall. We need a video of the history of Colin what is your musician history.
Sounds great and if Squiers are good enough for Jack Pearson formerly of the Allman Brothers they are good enough for everyone...He says not everyone is made the same but it's easy to find a good one if you try it out first and then it's a keeper...
Yeah! Can't wait to see the Blackguard Tele! Excellent review and tear down as always. This one sounded exceptionally good too. Love those wide range humbuckers, they've got that full-bodied yet airy twang.
A good choice for a video- the great compromise. The two for one guitar. And then some. Great tones pairing the wide-range p'ups with the compressor pedal.
You continually pick all my favorite guitars Colin. How do you know? Absolutely love your channel and your delivery. A real gem i love Fridays. You give me that Friday feeling. Great review.
The thing that puts me off is the headstock is it is a Stratocaster headstock and not a traditional Telecaster headstock which I love! also Squier's higher-end models usually have the gold Squier logo but I guess they have tried to make the logo look like the '70s Fender model. I always chuckle when I hear inductance measurements quoted in minihenrys as the kid who got me into electronics at school was called Henry and he was rather small, commonly referred to as a shortarse around my way
Great video as always! Have been really interested in those '72 or '75? classic series Tele's (with the f hole) after hearing Kirk Fletcher's. Would love to see a rundown on one of those 👍
Another good review. I'm glad to see you are planning to review more Teles in the future since I think there might be one on my horizon. I would want for my next electric guitar to be about as different as possible from my Epiphone ES-335 and I think the Telecaster might be it. I'll probably lean toward one with traditional single coils though. Thanks for the videos!
got to say this has become my favourite guitar review/demo channel on youtube! keep on rocking
Thanks man that's appreciated! 😎👍

If Classic Vibes were branded "Fender Indonesia" the Fender Mexico would go bankrupt in one day.
Cheers Jack, nice comment man thanks for supporting and watching! 😎👍👍
Well crap, this guitar wasn’t even on my radar, but now I need it. Great video as always!
😆👍
LoL you and me both! 🎸😅
Cheer's
Thanks Donny that's appreciated! 🙏😊
I really wish they made this and the 72 thinline in left handed versions
I just played one of these at a local guitar shop and it is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played and I have owned some beauties.
I am also a fan from anything 70s my fave decade.
Gotta pluck the courage to sneak a new one past the missus now 😂😂
I want to see the Squire Affinity Telecaster Deluxe
Cheers Richard! 😎👍👍
Stay Free!
Cheers man! 😎👍
I recently sold my Squier C.V. 50's Tele for reasons that are still unclear to me. I paid $250 for it, used, not expecting much. I was astounded on how good it was.
Gary, we all understand.
Yes we understand.... but why do we do it?? 🤷♂️

@@theguitaristas In my case it was to pay one month's mortgage! :)
(Live at the Zodiac)
Would love to own one but right now it's all about Les Pauls with P-90s for me!
Hi there 😊
Les Paul w p90?
Do you mean the gold top?
I saw this and went to PMT in Birmingham and bought one. It has served me well so far. I've thought about having the pickups out and replacing them with some Alnico2's from The Creamery... but, she sounds alright as she is.
I'm gonna hang on to it for now and see how it goes during the next project I get involved in....
The 70's teles are amazing. I have an 06 and and 21. The neck humbucker on those things are insane.
Nice one Colin, I know quite a few guitarist's that prefer Squires to actual Fender's...
Yep... I've found most of the classic vibe series to be better than the made in Mexico or( player) series fenders I've played ...for half the cost. So why not!?!? Paying half the cost and I don't care what the headstock says! They are typically amazing guitars! ✌️
Great video as always Colin. Seriously top end Squiers... fantastic guitars.
No matter the guitar you are presenting us you get a good sound!
Great review! I love the "Circle of Guitar Life" idea! I own several Squiers and with slight mods, they are awesome guitars!
Another great video from you! I've always had a soft spot for the 70's teles especially the custom with the wide range in the neck and single coil in the bridge. this deluxe sounds and looks really nice.
That sounded waaaay better than i expected. I would love to see you take on a g&l tribute asat classic bluesboy.
G&L are very good guitars. The neck profile up near and beyond the nut is so comfortable.
How do you like the humbucker in the neck position?
I haven't opened mine up yet to determine the pot value or cap value on the humbucker, but mine sounds a bit dark and muffled.
Other than that, love mine in blonde with tortoise guard.😎👍
😎👍❤😞
My squiers also get static on the guard as well. I tried the dryer sheets thing but doesn’t work for me. I just have to adjust my playing style
I think the static does go eventually but can you imagine how bad it is with hair like mine? 🤣👍
@@theguitaristas don’t worry, the hair goes eventually as well 😀

Love it, it's my first electric gtr, love it since the beginning
I still have my squier standard and classic vibe. One of the best budget guitar in my books
I have a 2008 vintage modified telecaster custom, black, I took all thr wiring out and pickups put pit seymour duncan seth lovers and re wired it new pots, put fender locking tuners on it and brass saddles.....love it...
I think the necks on the classic vibes and affinities sound and play great. It's like the opposite of the old small thin necks from the past.
FS1E !! I had one in 75. At the time it was the best thing I think it even topped 45 mph if you lay along the tank and had the wind behind you. Happy days.
😆👍
Cheers!
Cheers Rick, thanks foe the kind words its appreciated 🙏 and I think you just gave me a reason to buy the CV Custom again! 😆👍
Yes my 78 Custom weighs a ton! 😆👍
it's a fact that the modern day classic vibe squire's and " new " 2020 inspired by gibson epiphones are absolute good guitars and that with some upgraded parts you will have an guitar that's on par with the american made production line fenders and gibsons ( maybe even with the custom range , although that's maybe reaching to far ) , but anyway's , cost / perfomance wise , these guitars deliver big time . on another note : it is funny though how taste will differ , i really hate tele's with 2 humbuckers and a strat headstock : ) , i can understand and like a humbucker in the neck position on a tele , but i really want to see the tele headstock , great work as alway's colin , cheers , greets from holland
Me too.
True
the first guitar i bought with flat out cash. it’s a very versatile “les paul esc” guitar if you want to get those solid body humbucker tones. lovely guitar for the price.
Cheers Martin, glad you found us!... it's good karma for sure but be very careful as watching more of my videos may lead you to buy many more! 😆👍
Just bought one of these for £150, has been well played but is a great base for a project!
Loved the video mate! Going to check out your others now!

By far, thee most versatile electric guitar platform on the production market. ❤❤❤
Cheers James, you can get them now I believe but they are super expensive.
LOVE that guitar. Never like them as a kid until I saw it in an ad in Olympic White; whole different story. VERY COOL!
OH YEAH! I love the white, I have a Squire Affinity Tele from Indonesia... this one is Butterscotch. It was a "special" run with real Fender pups. It sounds fantastic. Curious about what you would think of the Mexican Vintera series Tele's that are going for almost the same amount of money as the lower end American tele's. On paper they are the most period correct specs outside of custom shop, even the original 50s and 60s series that sits just over 2,000$ is modified (modernized specs).
I have a Vintera in my sights as I do prefer the vintage style specs... watch this space!
Cool that you called out PMT Southend . I went to school with Simon, one of the original owners, I bought most of my guitars from there .
Very cool… I know Simon and Terry from way back before they even started PMT… the Essex Boyz did good!! 😎👍
Wish they did this in sunburst.
hey folks! i ve just bought one of this deluxe, great piece of monster! in comparison to vintera and squier custom the output pickups are louder.. strange but true… lost the competition with am vintageII but is placed in another planet and costs 5 time more here in italy
Gotoh saddles fit fine if you dont favor the OG bent steel Strat saddles
Worth saying its a bona fide Strat neck with the curved neck heel, not the flat Tele heel.
Would love to see a review of the Classic Vibe 70s Strat HHS, too (with the Indian Laurel fretboard). Thanks!!
It looks and sounds like the Fender! I accidentally bought a 74 Fender, in 1982 in a pawn shop for $400. Of course I sold it too soon. But these Squiers are the next best thing. Especially for the price. Now I’m feeling the need to get one.
That was a nice accident! 😂👍
The fat Strat headstock looks so good with the Tele shape. Adds just enough flare to balance out the simplicity of the body shape.
nice video on the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster, if you want some affordable guitar suggestions, you should try the Ibanez versions of Telecasters and Stratocasters.
they have some that are similar to Squier. of course there's also there own RG line some people call Super Strats, there's also Jackson.
i don't think they do Telecaster style guitars, but they are similar to the RG from Ibanez.
alot of people say there more suitable for heavy metal the way there design,
but there's plenty of Ibanez players in the 70's that didn't play a fast shredding style of music.
there's also EVH something Eddie Van Halen is known for,
i don't know too much about there guitars.
you mentioned the Mexican Player Series Stratocasters and Telecasters,
you definitely will be surprised how they good are in the last year in a half they came out with them. it's a replacement for the old Mexican Standard Fender Strats and Tele,
but even on the American Fender side, they dropped the Standard name which is kind of weird.
im so used to the word Standard, but the name change surprisingly has gotten alot of younger people to look at Fender. Gibson is the only one besides Epiphone that still uses the standard.
now when you check Fenders website for American made Fenders, the Fender Stratocaster Performer is now there entry level guitar, and the American Pro II is now there Standard,
and obviously you have custom. the Mexican has the Player which is a replacement for there Standard line, and the Player Plus is a replacement for the Deluxe.
The Squier I've seen are very high quality fit and finish! I'm not a fan of the 70's headstock especially on a tele and the belly cut on this one looks different/weird. I do like the 70's models However. Thanks for showcasing this affordable tele!
Totally agree Colin the Squire classic vibe series are fantastic guitars an addictive
Had the 72 thinline tele with the wide range pickups an regret trading it on till this day
Will get another one day
Keep up the good work bud

Nice one Frankie! 😎👍👍
Your videos are great love the work and all the guitars
The Classic Vibe is the best Squire since the first gen '70s style from the early '80s. Really cool.
I really enjoyed you break down of these guitars
Just bought the Epiphone 59 and I love it, great guitar.
Mine came with the Tone knobs not working at all. Looks great and sounds great.
I love your reviews, so relaxing to watch.
You are one of the people whose opinion I trust.
I'm getting a Squire Esquire thanks to you!!
Thanks man... great guitars let us know how you get on!! 😎👍
@@theguitaristas 👍🏻
a Frankencaster, and its tone brought to life, melodically as always, by the master.
😆👍🙏
Great Video Colin. I own one Squier and it cut up my hand so bad. Its now just hanging on the wall. We need a video of the history of Colin what is your musician history.
just picked up a 2020 classic vibe telecaster Deluxe FSR 70s Seafoam Green Sparkle Beautiful, after watching your channel, keep up the great work
Nice one! 😁👍
Cheers mate, I've said this before.... we just both love cool guitars! 😆 have a great weekend man 😎👍
The thing that puts me off is the headstock is it is a Stratocaster headstock and not a traditional Telecaster headstock which I love! also Squier's higher-end models usually have the gold Squier logo but I guess they have tried to make the logo look like the '70s Fender model.
Would love to see a rundown on one of those 👍
Excellent video.. Death of the Whammy Bar, hardtails rule.. Keith got it right, a Telecaster is always in tune and ready to play..!!
Nice one Colin! Always loved Tele Customs and Deluxes. The bridge pickup sounds fantastic. Any new semi-hollow reviews on the horizon?
Yes but still trying to decide which one.... 🤔
D’Angelico seem to be getting a lot of love at the moment.
