Little correction for ya. I played the first ridge racer in the arcade as a kid. The wheel did not have force feedback. It was just a spring centering it
Minor details - Ridge Racer 1 and 2 didn't have force feedback in the arcades. All the games (other than RR1) did up to 8 players, you just didn't see such setups. Not all variants of Ridge Racer had a clutch/shifter, that was the DLX, The Triple Monitor and Full Scale.
Yes my research came from the arcade museum website, they have force feedback listed on those 2 games so their website is wrong. Plenty of other Intel confirms they did not have it. Appreciate the Info
Not interested in most driving cabs until Daytona gets released - hopefully with upgraded foot controls and forced feedback. I would consider a pre-owned stand-up Outrun though. Top 5 reasons for and against is a winning content format - Keep it up PDubs!
I got my ridge race cab for $400, I agree wasn’t worth $700 so it’s good to wait sometimes. I’d say this cabinet is very much worth it as a fan of 90s arcade racing games
I really like this cab and it would really round out the games in our home but I still can't justify 700+ taxes and shipping for an A1up. Great review as always PDub!
One of the reasons I think that would also be worth mentioning it being good to buy is that it lets Namco know that we want a new Ridge Racer. Expand on RR7's content, maybe have a UFRA type thing that RR7 had, as well as maybe an additional sort of .. teams mode? Like, something that was done in R4 maybe. Bring ALL existing tracks in, and maybe also create some new tracks for the new release. Maybe make it multiplatform, cause sticking to one console might restrict things, especially with how Need For Speed, Forza, and GT have sort of left RR behind. I mean, at this point, RR fans are desperate for anything new.
Nice vid! I like Ridge Racer but I'm gonna hold out for Daytona! I also recently purchased the T&T stand with racing mount so that will be my racing setup this holiday
Nice video, although, FYI, you mentioned about all the Ridge Racer games getting PS1 ports, but Rave Racer never actually got a home conversion (although it's tracks did turn up in the PSP version of RR2). I'm definitely more of an Outrun fan than Ridge Racer, but I agree that this is definitely a nicer looking cabinet than the A1up Outrun. The price on this is pretty extortionate though. For something that's drifting closer to a thousand bucks, I'd definitely want force feedback and a larger selection of games.

The sequel Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Raw Thrills spiritual successor to Hydro Thunder, H2Overdrive! Yeah, I went there :) vgv

I used to play Rave Racer at Kings Island Amusement park nonstop as a teen, so this one should be a must buy for me. Unfortunately with the price, no online multi-player, and no force feedback, I'll probably hold off on this one. Thank you again for another great video Pdubs.
There were some great points made in the video, but for me it's all about the games. We all know it's inevitable that Arcade1up is going to do a Daytona/Sega racer at some point. Between that and the AtGames racer, the Ridge Racer machine is a pass for me.
As someone who waited too long to get the outrun stand up, I'm hoping they upgrade Outrun and bring it back. They've done it on so many other cabs, why not this one.
Better cabinet quality (compared to OutRun). Much better. But that's a shame for OutRun. Because OutRun (the game) is historically more important to us (old retrogamers).
Am I the only one that wishes Arcade1Up would put out a Pole Position cab? They already have the Namco/Atari relationship. Do others not want this? I’d be first in line if they did something like this and have no problem paying a premium.

It's unlikely for OutRun to have a version with left-handed stick shift, but Ridge Racer definitely did not use a right-handed stick shift. The stick shift should be on the left; I recall Rave Racer cabinets using said layout.
There are really only 4 games on this cab. Ridge racer 2 is basically a remaster of ridge racer 1. The big upgrade for 2 is online play but this doesnt have it...
I love my original one , work's perfect and was allot cheaper that the arcade 1 up one made from cheap mdf and plastic. These would be more appealing if they weren't twice as much as a real cabinet and made better.

No I can’t hack into the board to see what emulator they are using they are probably using a bespoke one. They are using MAME ROMs since ridge racer 1 and 2 do not have multiple camera views (like the PlayStation 1 ports)
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Thanks. Emulation looks better than MAME since the title flag is correct. In MAME this was missing for years until it was added recently, but it's still buggy looking. I wonder what emulator/hardware they are using, i can't find anything online.
I just bought this cabinet to add to my collection. I paid $400 ,but feel $300 would've been fair due to lack of games.
