"Home From The Hill" is a successful, yet underrated and not often talked about drama of the early days of the 1960's, dealing with a prominent family story of the 50's. Starring Robert Mitchum, a young George Peppard, Eleanor Parker and more in great performances. The music was provided by polish born Bronisław Kaper, the great composer, who unfortunately seems not to be the center of talks very often, either. "Home From The Hill" is a colorful orchestrated score with very warm themes and also menacing moments and should be enjoyed as the movie, more often, as we going to do now!
I’m 26 years old and I’m so thankful to have an older father who showed me this film as a kid. It’s a film I’ll treasure and eventually pass down to my kids when I have them. Anyone who’s seen it knows how special of a film this is. The music brings a tear to my eye just listening to it. I can picture the scenes so clearly. :’) Thank you for uploading.
Lots of emotional backgrounds in this beautiful among beautifuls ; "HOME FROM THE HILL; music composed for a CLASSIC AMERICAN FILM from 1960. Next in line for Kaper (in 1962), was the powerful ( and I can't think of a adjective here, to cover my love of the) EPIC SCORING he brought to the MAGNIFICENT ''MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY''. Thank you, so much , Fred, for this: "HOME FROM THE HILL''.
you did it again fred, thanks."home from the hill"was a forerunner of the prime time soaps of the 80s,especially"dallas",telling as it did the story of a powerful texas family and their womanizing patriarch, played by robert mitchum and his frigid wife, portrayed by eleanor parker, who later played the baroness in"the sound of music".thanks fred!
There's a wonderful song by the Kingston Trio called Home from the Hill, also released in 1960. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be included in the score or what. It wound up as the B-side to "El Matador" and is also on TH-cam.
You are right, thanks for pointing that out. HFTH theme also has always reminded me of a slowed down version of the old song, "Tammy" (Debbie Reynolds.

Dear Fred Happy New Year🎈🎈🎈
You are truly remarkable with your great film score finds. This composer worked for MGM I believe yes???
Hello LaSharown, same to you, too!
Yes he did when he came to Hollywood and then for a certain amount of years.

Never seen the film but have enjoyed this 👍
Vincente Minelli, Hollywood auteur? Definitely!
This 1960 film’s opening theme is Very similar to opening theme of Dances With Wolves. Just a coincidence... unless a DeLorean
dropped by with a musicymuse?
As Goldfinger said: “Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence.
Third time is enemy action.”
Of course, there are numerous song similarities through history... hard to sort out all of the sensory inputs we get... that is, ever wonder why there’s only ONE elevator music song?
Best idea: enjoy, no matter... appreciate the differences and similarities... if a song or a person resonates with your spirit or soul, go for it! Unity merges & is identical to Diversity... oh, btw, pass the granola.
“Just sayin’” (©️phrase, Chaucer, but now in court case brought by Whig Party).
