Very informative!! Ford OEM is the way to go when it comes to plugs for this 3.7 in my experience with my truck. FYI typically these coils need to be replaced very 150.000km. Not just the boot but the whole coil pack. I would recommend replacing the coils in bank 1 at the very least. Save yourself the headache of having to remove the intake yet again. Bank 2 is very accessible and can be replaced as needed. Also it always seems like cylinder 3 and 6 are the first to go when it comes to plugs coils or coil boots. I have no idea why! Fantastic tutorial ! Good Job 👍🏼
AWSOME VID! I HAVE A 2013 XLT 3.7 i replaced pcv valve, spray clean mass air flow sensor, replace air filter and scrubb throttle body while in there while replacing plugs, pour a can of SEAFOM in gas tank…. And that’s the best truck i ever had , it runs smooth like a beast when i need it to respond. I don’t like messing with fluids (not so graceful w/fluids) so i take it in for ALL fluids. GREAT JOB!
FYI, 45 degree wrench arc is an 1/8 turn. 90 is 1/4. Six point bolt wrench flats are 60 degree wrench arc, for reference. I only point this out because these 8mm bolts are pretty easy to break if overtorqued. Pretty good video.
Obviously an engineer who hates mechanics designed this engine . To take an intake loose to get to a plug is ridiculous. Chrysler had a V8 that had to be lifted from the motor mounts with an engine hoist in order to remove the 2 plugs at the back 2 cylinders. I hope both engineers were fired and never hired in their field again.
Good video, it helped a lot but it would be nice to have a list of necessary items at the beginning of the video. I didn't know I would need a gasket so didn't have one on hand. That may be common sense to some folks but I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination.
I have the same truck 2013, I can’t find a video for where the coolant temperature sensor is located. I’ve seen for other motors, 3.5L , 4.2L and others and don’t know if it’s located in the same spot. Can you help?
I recently replaced the plugs on my 2013 3.7. I didnt have to disconnect coil pigtails. Was able to leave them connected. Saved a little time not having to deal with those stubborn release clips. Great video.
I’ve tried a few different plugs types of plug. For some strange reason the Ford OEM always work best. FYI Standard blue streak coils at rock auto are great !
Bruh. Mine is nowhere as easy as your's. I cant see the plug i cant get the socket on the hex of the plug there is rubber inside i assume to shield coil. Already broke the rubber trying to push down on the plug! I feel like i just F'd up!
First off! Clean off the engine , so none of the dirt and dust winds up inside. Second! Never leave openings into the engine open( so nothing falls inside)! Third( that's just me) do one plug at a time and always put a new one in( close the opening) Don't leave it open! Otherwise OK!

Makes sense. Good advise
Awesome job man. I looked for over an hour for a video like this. All the other are the eco boost engines. Thank you!

Helpful video. Worst part was leaning over the sharp hood latch - miserable engineers!

@17:25 the spark plug gauge still has a sticker on the underside, which may affect the measurement a little.
This video helped me out thanks for taking the time to make it.
Watched your video yesterday an it helped out alot on my 2013 3.7
This was tremendously helpful thank you!
This is a great video!! Great detail! Made the job easy. Thanks!!
how do you reach the very back bolt on the passenger side
Did you apply any specific torque or just until they feel tight?

Helpful video. Going to be doing this tomorrow and wanted to get a idea on what I had to look forward to.
Did you used the old gasket seal or installed a new one?
Thanks for the video. Do these kind of motors have issues with not enough threads for the spark plugs like other Ford made?
No
I think replacing the coils while doing the plugs is a good idea.
2 time using this video!!!! Thanks man
I swapped the Motocraft Platinum for NGK iridium’s and now it’s rough idle and says Advanced Trac needs to be serviced???

FYI

Only problem i have is not cleaning motor before opening the intake
thanks
Thanks for the video bro 💪🏻

Thanks for the vid about to do mine soon
Thanks for the video.
Good video
Good job men!
I thought spark plugs came pre-gap already. Don't they?
The ones I just got ngk iridium lol are pretty gapped.
They do but you always want to check incase they been dropped while in packing.....
I love “How To” videos from people who admittedly have never completed the process, ever, in their lives. Hit that subscribe button!
Thanks bro
