Yeah that is very easy to say when you got deep pockets and get the luxury to be a dignifying space living hoarder. THE WAY THESE californians boast about their houses , to me is repuslsive and very very hypocritical ....THAT WHOLE PLACE JUST FOR 3 PEOPLE ? ...GIVE ME A BREAK !!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE COULD LIVE IN THAT HOUSE !!!!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY HOMELESS AND LATIN POLITICAL REFUGIES COULD USE THAT HOUSE ? SMH!! DO BETTER CALIFORNIA !!!
I grew up right THERE, literally a stones throw from this particular Carter Sparks Home. Tyler is spot on, there is a dearth of homes in the Greater Sac region that were inspired by the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic. There is absolutely an underdog aspect to the Sac Modern scene. Gorgeous interiors and those plants and ceramics are divine, kudos!
This has become my favourite series on youtube. Each house has their own story, and I love how every home owner express their gratitude for living in such a beautiful space. Hope to one day find a place like this and maybe be featured ;) you never know.
When I found this channel, it was a breath of fresh air!! I love everything about people who love modern homes, architects and designers that make it HOME! Thank you Open Space for sharing!!
These videos are such a genuine delight. The shared language of mid-century modern comes through them all, but the unique style of each architect and builder/developer is there, with the wonderful character and personality of each owner showing through. I am really enjoying the series, and so glad that people like Tyler and Jessica ( and possibly, Betty! ) appreciate their homes so palpably and are willing to "let us all in" to see what makes them so special. Thank you.
I'd definitely buy one of these kinds of homes. Any architecture that connects the indoors to the outdoors is the best kind. Love the mid-century modern movement.
Formerly from Sacramento and I loved these homes, especially the one with the big terrarium as you went through the front door. Bravo.. I still love them.
I just love these videos. It reinforces our ability to keep working toward interior goals for our Streng halfplex! Thank you for all you all do and for showcasing Sacramento, the Streng family and this terrific history.
Wow such a gorgeous home! It also seems to have found the perfect owners, they seem so appreciative of the design and the history of the building! giving it their own touch while keeping the original intention of the designers at the same time. wonderful! (im also immensely jealous of them being able to have an indoor garden)
Tyler & Jess ..thank you for making this home so incredibly beautiful! My parents would have loved how you have updated, decorated and are enjoying this home as my family did for so many years. You guys were definitely meant to own this house and timing was perfect for that! Enjoy this amazing home as our family did. This video is really special…Thank you! xoxo Shelly 💕
This is a lovely house! I really love the mid century style gate at the front entry. Thanks for sharing, cheers from Palm Sorings🌴🌵mid century desert paradise
When that home and some of the earlier Streng homes were built, Sacramento was considered a cow town by the intellectuals residing in the suburbs of San Francisco. But as you can see there was a sense of style and sophistication in some of the suburban neighborhoods.
Damn girl be tall. Fancy tats. Great awesome house. The orange door is so good, looks good enough to eat. So much California style transplanted to the gold coast. Experimental and very large scale on the Island.
Incredible, inspiring and refreshing way to live. I wonder how much vertical space in the ground you need for these cactus. Might try something like this myself. Also really curious for the name the sofas
Their business is their own, to me It would be a nice home IF they had no stones indoors. Trying to comprehend the mess, dirt and unhygenic material from stones. It feels like living in a driveway. Fab furniture, colour arrangements are top notch and great taste bar the stones.
I'd never guess that this was built in 1976. Maybe 1956. Amazing how classically modernist it is for 76. In the Northeast, everyone still wants fake shutters and wainscoting. Cookie cutter colonials. Architecture has regressed bigtime currently.
Someone meaning an American asked about the cacti bc Americans have been raised to know one think... lawsuits instead of just being intelligent. You know railing is everywhere in the US not bc it is needed (if you compare the built environment in other countries) but bc someone dumb or someone who wants a lawsuit will make it a problem. It is sad that America isn't like other developed countries where space is creatively designed but instead it is then it is ruined with unnecessary lawsuit stoppers. Welcome to a country that keeps headed backwards.
I understand but for me this is trashy. Fridge magnets or stickers, bunch of different plants pots and so on. Even furniture and decor is ugly. The entrance garden is horrible. My opinion.
Thanks!
Thanks soo much!! Means alot ❤️❤️
I like how these guys are actually LIVING in this house - which is what these homes were intended for; not to be museum pieces :)
Agreed!

Bless these homeowners they understood the assignment and killed the interiors ❤

Beautiful home with a fantastic atrium. The integration of the homes hard surfaces and the softness of plants is refreshing to see.
Couldn't agree more!

“Leaned in”, sounds like something Gavin Newsom says. 😂
I love your home!!! Thank you for sharing Tyler. I’ve been waiting for this to air since you told me about it last summer

Incredible house. Thanks for sharing!
your home is breathtaking!
Agreed!
I like that they’re fans of Mike Giant and hung his prints up in the house. They fit well with the home.
Beautiful home, family and plants!
Timeless Thrills! Crazy I stumbled on this channel/ video so cool!

Its my dream to have a house with an atrium like this...not a common style of architecture in my country sadly. Thanks for this episode 🙂
What a dreamy home!❤❤❤😊

Lots to love about the home
Very cool!
Beautiful home!
Great parenting approach 100% agree

He's correct - most people hated these homes when they were built. The saying was, "What - you can't afford a real home?"
Weird times
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!

Something about the houses in carmicheal they have character. Even like the trees and lighting feels different.
Inspired by Eichler homes. There are 60 in South Land Park currently we are working with the City of Sacramento establishing a historical district.
Beautiful video! Do you happen to know what camera and lens the videographer uses?
this guy is real as hell
That house looks familiar😂

lots of mcm homes by Eichler in Orange County CA
Anyone know where those beautiful colorful stools are from??
that painting at @4:53 -anyone know the name or where its from? so nice
Is the atrium covered? I know it gets hot in Sacramento.
Yes, indoor covered atrium ✨
That’s one of those ahtrium houses
Keep it up, love the content, If you need home cleaning services hit us up.
That looks like mid-century modern mixed with Wabi-sabi, but in American style 😅
Brought to you by Herman Miller lol
Haha
This house is fantastic if you don't have a cat. World's largest indoor litter box.
is that a good thing?
@@The0neLeprecon Depends how often you clean your cats litter box. 😂

Stones and dirt are not unhygienic. Plants are watered and clean.

That's what our thought was too, doesn't look the period it was built.. in a good way!
