Questo per smentire tutti quelli che dicono che Sokolov è un bisonte della tastiera. Un bisonte non riuscirebbe mai a produrre suoni così dolci e morbidi. Grandissima esecuzione!

Ahh, everyone is so right! He seems to be the only one I’ve ever heard play this, who cares about the sounds he’s making! Others seem over worried about adhering religiously to the printed marks in the score, taking their minds off the main point: producing a shimmering musical sound world out of this amazing music. Advice: Hit the technique hard, develop supple fingers that feel like they can “do anything”, then shape and mold the notes into the beautiful sounds Ravel’s notes and annotations suggest to you, those sounds you hear in your own head when you just look at the score before you ever touch the keys. The result will be part you, part Ravel, but then really worth listening to just as this recording by Sokolov. Wow, what a stunning close in the last movement he makes!! Thank you Mr. Sokolov for showing us something we want to listen to, and that inspires us to play it too!

This is the interpretation I most like so far, and I've heard MANY as Ravel's Sonatine is one of his most popular works. Too bad that Sokolov is not better known in the U.S. !

I am yet to discover a recording by Sokolov that is "unsuccessful" in any conceivable way... What a musical giant, truly blessed by the piano gods!

In the words of Eckhart Tolle:
"Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world."
"Whatever you think people are withholding from you--praise, appreciation, assistance, loving care, and so on--give it to them."
"You cannot receive what you don't give. Outflow determines inflow."

No man, I ain't jokin, dude. As I said bro: "That love without which no artist lives and breathes". There are *plenty* of better performances of the Sonatine on TH-cam alone.
