Our almost-two-year-old watches your channel in a full trance. Never matters what he’s doing he will stop dead in his tracks and stand in front of the tv fully hypnotized and watch your entire video. It’s been like this since he was a little baby, he would always stop and watch your whole video before resuming his chaotic antics. He loves your channel and we do too!

For me at the other end of life, bedridden and not doing well, it's the same..I watch till the tractors get worked on. Then I change to watching Jim and his workhorses because I grew up with work horses and know zip about tractors..( p.s. dads second farm was near Berkshire not that far from Just a Few Acres..

Nathan: A couple times today I've seen my comments to a thread posted entirely on another channel where it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Stuff like this will happen to people when they disagree with somebody who believes that "identifies with" is good enough to determine the gender of those with dysphoria. Now I'm watching that circle doing it's thing indicating I can't edit and overwrite it. It will say it's been deleted by a pop up but there on my screen it sits. So, I'm taking screen shots to post elsewhere if it becomes a problem. Thanking you in advance. I gave you a thumbs up when I read your post without seeing Pete for the first time today. My problem is my give a darn is something that can't be busted easily. 😉👍

You're damn right about manure. Spreading manure should be done between nice dry days in spring thru the end of september. It's when it's chemical value (as well as it's micro bacterial value) are at their best. Especially with solid manure like what you got on the farm. The true value of manure doesn't stop to a lab analysis. Is waaaaay better than any fertilizers you can spread on the soil. It's ALIVE !

Imagine a world where everyone had your ideals and work ethics. There would be small farms producing meat, vegetables, produce, fruits and nuts... then small wood lots people producing lumber, furniture and crafts... and they all sold their wares at a market. No more shopping malls... no more big box stores... no more politics. What a wonderful world it could be!

Even when you are spreading manure..."literally". Lol. Please know you are producing quality content... when i see a random barn cat in the foreground and say..."hi Esra." Thanks again for all you share, whether its animal care, tractor repairs, or farmers market. Thats what i like best...your unpredictable routine life. 😉

It's amazing the difference between North grasses and South grasses. Here in East texas the cows are off hay but won't have anything up to the digestibility/ protein of your grasses. I'm always jealous of your grass! But not the winter.

I always enjoy watching you two working the farm. I had a small farm at one time. Raised my own beef, polled herefords, hogs, turkeys, only once, about 10, and a small flock of hens.
I really enjoyed taking care of them and also had a rather large veggy garden.
But you two make it look so enjoyable and make a great team.
Keep up the good work, and videos. God Bless you both.

here's a question for ya Pete !!! why not get a bigger bucket for the tractor ? I was really supprised at how much quicker I could get the job done when switching from a smaller bucket to a bigger one... and I am sure that would be the same for you.... filling the manure spreader with 3 buckets or 4 would sure be better than the 8 to 10 that you normally have to do...

This reminds me of the days when we used an International 350 utility with a bucket. It took so long to clean out our barn, mainly because it was to big to use in a barn. We now have skid steer machine which works better inside a barn. Watch out for the wind. Happy spreading.

Watching you and Hillary cleaning enclosures reminds me of cleaning calf pens with my sister (6 (me) and 9) every Saturday from late fall to spring - we had to get it done by 5:00 pm so we could watch Bugs Bunny before dinner/supper. Dad had to empty the wheelbarrow. We had chickens for eggs and around 30 milking cow for butterfat/cream and pigs that just ate skim milk and barley/oats chop all winter. I also remember my dad had a waiting list for people/ friends that wanted the pork from the slaughter which we did on the farm. My parents had to give up farming due to health issues when I was 10 ish. Thanks for bring up some fond memories. I have made friends with former market gardener and volunteer there year round (5 acres). I will keep going into my seventies.

Hey Pete, this is Sam from Las Vegas.
Love your channel I think I’ve watched almost every episode for the last three years.
I remember a famous chef in Las Vegas that had a farm to table. Restaurant. He told me that they have the farmers feed the chickens turmeric to make their egg yolks more orange.
I’m curious if feeding chickens turmeric will make their eggs yolks more orange or vibrant.
It would be an interesting way to to market your eggs if the color change is reliable. Maybe you could do a test batch with five or 10 chickens in the winter house feeding them to turmeric to see if it affects the color of their eggs yokes.
Another comment: I love your quips about walking through doors and the vines on your garage etc. Makes me laugh every time. I totally get you 😂😂
Thank you for the great channel. I’m grateful for the many hours of thoughtful, well-thought-out knowledge and entertainment.
    Bye for now
    Your Faithful viewer,
    Sam

The winning bit of wisdom today.
    1. Recognizing how some farms have gutters with right angle steel attatched to a chain that moves it out of a barn into your Honey wagon there. In a setting where a farmer had heifers in an old dairy barn they had to shovel it out first and then reload it back into the gutter. You're spot on about when to put that on the fields though. That same farmer would put it into a pile in a low unused area that must have been a gravel pit some decades before. A years seasons later I mixed that stuff 50/50 with sand. Anything would grown in that.
    2. Real men don't need heated seats. That was cuter than a bug's ear.

Boy, I wish I could smell that manure. This video took me way back to my growing up years in a farm village in Southern Ontario. Driving by the farmer's fields after they had spread manure and my older brother insisting the smell would grow hair on your chest. I thought he was disgusting then but I wish I could smell it now that I'm in my sunset years. Your videos always take me for a stroll down memory lane. Thank you Hillary and Pete. Bless!

Spring was always very welcome when I lived in a cold climate.
I moved to Texas 25 yrs ago & winters are mild...but I still enjoy spring time...
First sign of spring in my youth was Easter flowers & spring peepers...
You knew the corner had turned & even if a cold snap came in , it didnt last long...
I remember back in 93' and it was mid April , the grass was growing , the trees were budding & we got about a foot of snow...
    It was so discouraging !
But a wk later & things were back on course...

I love your daily routine videos. I know from your point of view it might be boring but not for the viewers. Keep it coming buddy.

You are so right about shopping malls. I realized years ago that you could blindfold a random American, spin them around three times, drop them in any shopping mall in the country, and they would have one chance in fifty of guessing what US state they were in. Recently I saw a video of a student orchestra performing in a shopping mall. The mall was in Taipei, Taiwan, but at first glance it could have been in Tampa, Florida. Most of the stores were the same, the crowd behavior was the same. Love your videos!
