Nelson's best decision was taking his game to steam, but sadly nothing good lasts forever. Despite the community's best efforts the game's player count has been slowly whittling away. I think the main reason for this is because Nelson Sexton decided to stop creating full updates for the game, he has instead enlisted the community to make the updates for him. I personally love the curated updates, however they can definitely be hit or miss. I used to think this game had the potential to be as big as other huge survival games. However, I think the reality is that Unturned is a game that comes from a bygone era. Unturned comes from an era where zombie survival games were massively popular, a trend that has come and passed. I also think Unturned generally speaking is too hard to get into for the average player, things in Unturned aren't really straight forward and the Vanilla game is pretty ganky. Curated Map developers have made an effort to streamline the survival experience and I think they've done an incredible job. However, they did that job a little too late. The game does retain a cult-like following, and I think that's enough for Nelson.
Just to clarify. Neither Roblox Studio or Unity are programming languages. As you correctly stated Roblox Studio uses lua as it's programming language and Unity supports a wide scale of programming languages.
Another clarification. Unity only supports one language and that's C#. While you can write scripts for your game in other languages, you will need to still write the underlying C# code to support the functionality yourself.
The game's kinda bland in my opinion, it's just that the game has a very big focus on PvP rather than PvPvE, even with mods it always makes you eventually ask yourself "...What now?" when you have all items and gear because you don't really have a main goal or objective, it's an endless cycle of scavenge, make a base, get raided by tryhards, rage, start from square one, nothing special at all

i was playing unturned when it just came into beta, it was great to play, although, i was playing a version that didnt have trees and i wasnt aware there were other versions
This is why it's better making slop on Roblox than something creative and unique. On Roblox creativity is not valued and 90% of the games are just repetitive slop that is made to cash off of it. The developer of Unturned is so right about what happened to him on Roblox, and what he did was and is the best choice.
Nothing will compare to how deadzone was. Deadzone for me back in teh day was one of the most fun zombie shooters aside from apocalypse rising which was also a feat itself. I don't remember exactly what game I played but I think it was Deadzone Remade, the weapons you could get from fighting bosses, the pvp, the formula of deadzone was perfect to me.
I was one of the people who copied his game, I just used it to host private versions at the time, I'm glad to be an og fan of nelsons creation and I'm glad he keeps going
Old Unturned player that used to create hacks and trainers for Unturned here, this is honest criticism about your video, you immediately talked about how Unturned has multiple modes and maps after its transition to Roblox but you purely forgot the stage it went though from Unturned 1.0 > Early Access 2.0 > Early Access 3.0 > Official 3.0. There were alot of tweaks and problems with the game from before and the community was small since it had its niche like how DayZ started but now Unturned its just a mismash of so many custom servers that its difficult to have fun anymore especially with the map problems. Its been also missing alot of big updates like it used to. I apologize if my comment seems negative but I really felt for the game back then.

These comments make me feel like im the only person here who actually played the game BEFORE it was ported off of roblox, back when it was actually fun and cool. After it got ported out it lost over half its player base which was replaced with bots bc unlike roblox, the ported version has absolutely no anti botting counter measures, roblox inherently has it bc roblox themselves does ban bots quite frequently
I have 6k hours in this game 💀💀 but I don't regret it. Despite the graphics its really good game, gameplay in this game in really good, Unturned needs more players and regular update from Nelson. He should updating dev tools, I mean something like, easier airdrop editor, easier to make custom craftings ing, add that after editing the mod, you click a reload button and you don't have to reset the game. This would make creating mods much easier and faster. More players would get involved in the community and creating their own.
Ive seen a top comment talking about unturned having a botted playercount whilst this use to be true around 3-4 years ago it still is somewhat there but i see people be confused "so many players but so many empty servers" the biggest community on unturned currently is china and russia and you probably wont see the full chinese supported servers in your internet search but if you are in europe you probably can see the max fill russian ones.

Deadzone was incredible for its time, a much more fast paced experience that even Apoc Rising couldn't match (Despite Apoc Rising looking quite a bit better). Sadly, the content of Unturned isn't sustainable for a long time game.

3500 hours of playtime , 75% of it finding glitches so far i know normal noclip , car noclip , a small dupe and throwing granades in safezones (works on all maps) also i know many holes in the maps (mostly curated ones) + i can ruin any server with shop plugin... pretty well made game tho normal people cant find many glitches unlike me , sadly its dying also 4:27 yes fix the fucking vehicles , most players are just bots or around 47k players are playing singleplayer which is unlikely

i left unturned cuz you had to search for pills and medicine if you wanted to increase your radiation stat (you get it from zombies toxic zones and just waiting)
I originally started on 2.0, had a lot of good times on that version - and then getting into the super early 3.0 version via the use of that good old-fashioned Operation Maple Leaf password. It's interesting to see the game's gradual evolution, even if I haven't actively played it for so long.
I only wish for either Nelson or some comunity memmbers to stop making new maps that only complicate the gameplay or die after a few months and focus on making oficial vanila servers, there are like 2 vanila server hosters and they can be hard to find for new players .
this, i'm just so lost on those new maps, i just started playing on tarkov serv to not have to build a base but if i had to play i wouldn't probably play on old vanilla maps.

Unturned is dead. The 50,000 players are either the Chinese players, or bots. I have played 1000 hours on one server. It was called Kodak 5x. The server was really fun, but it died out. Soon enough the server closed down. The only thing worth playing is Rime Rusturned I guess.
