Matt is seriously one of the most talented photographers l know. Keep making these videos. They’ve helped young photographers like me so much. All the time spent planning, filming and editing them are worth it and we are so thankful for it. Thanks westcott! Thanks Matt! Cheers!!
Awesome video! Matt is fantastic and he crammed alot of very useful information into a short video. I recently jumped into the FJ400 world (with my Nikon D850) and love it! I will be adding a second one into my kit. Thanks Westcott!
Matt, at what power are you setting your lights at for the Action, and portrait shots? Plus how far are you putting the main light away from the subject when shooting each?
Big help Matt, watched you video early yesterday morning, took a few notes, drew a few stick people for the posses when down to the ground did a photoshoot with a young female football for her America scholarship portfolio. We only had fifteen minutes but thanks to your help very successful. No time to set flash up but a bright sunny morning so used the natural light. The pose with the young lady with the ball again her head was brilliant and mum now would like that blown up for her wall. Good stuff. I'll watch your editing video when I get chance.
Great video! Can you share a link for that device hanging around your neck that you use to look at the pictures in the back of the camera with? Thank you in advance!🙂😊
I was excited about using the ttl to Manual on my fjx3m, but the manual comes out way underexposed, compared to the ttl image.. I was expecting the exact same exposure?? To get the same exposure I have to increase the M by .7 stops. I'm using a Nikon D850 and two fj400 lights. Anyone else having this issue?
A little late to this party but what size beauty dish? I know the Joel Grimes version very well but was not sure if it is the 24” or 36” thank you in advance.
Great photos but I'd say start of with showing each picture and then discuss your thinking and planning for that shot along with the music backed section of you shooting. I'm not trying to be negative but I got a bit lost in the talking which dominated the video.
Always enjoy your videos. I know some ppl complained about the talking but I think it was good for you to explain like you did. What light stands are these?
Thank you for sharing your work. It really is helpful to see how you work and the images you produce. I liked the follow up post video too. For your gear, what light strands are those? I have some less expensive ones and I'm tied of fighting with them to open and close. These look solid and well built. I'd like to get some that will last and work. Thanks!
Love the workflow and Matt’s amazing composition. After researching a lot and I mean Lot. Purchased a FJ400. Love it love it. Everything about it is solid and well thought out. Was a little worried at first but theirs literally next to no learning curve. The menus are intuitive and looking forward to making my clients and me happy. (Saving to purchase 2 more by the way). Thanks Matt for a wonderful video and incredible work.
Matt-Thank you for the videos...I want to strobe a basketball game, and use HSS. The gym I am getting into has a track around the court. Is HSS an option? Bare bulb strobes will be about 30-40 feet from the court.
Thanks for the video. Clearly a very talented photographer. Without sounding negative I feel the video had a lot of talking. I think it would have been more enjoyable to watch if it was more snappy...i did find myself skipping through just to see the shots. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you!!! You’ve helped me bring a new level to my photography!

Well said. He's incredibly underrated in the photography education world. Glad to see others feel the same way.
xxcxxxxxxx
Great video! I literally just purchased this strobe and I can’t wait to use it!
When you use your long throw reflectors for sports photography, do you usually use it with the grid, or without the grid?
Really valuable presentation.
Glad it was helpful!
Great shots Matt , and I really appreciated your in-depth explanation as to how and why you do what your doing.
Great of you to discuss the shoot in details. Great job 👍
Curious if you could share your strobe settings? I struggle with finding the right setting on a shoot like this.

Thanks for the EXCELLENT tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips on posing, location, and lighting.

Do you recommend two FJ-400’s or one FJ-400 with FJ200 work?
Thanks Matt for sharing!

What other light do you recommend that is cheaper.

The Joel Grimes version is 24" and the Manny Ortiz version is 36"
You never mention what you set the stones on? Or do the automatically figure that out by your setting s?
I love the model 😍👌🔥 Good work
Thanks for another excellent video Matt!
Photos looks amazing!
Soooo are those photos edited or straight out the camera

Great to hear John! Thank you for your support!
Which camera brand do you shoot with John?
Thank you, your videos are awesome!

Awesome video Matt. thank you very much
Amazing images
Thanks for watching!
This was a well organized video
Some great shots 👏
Thanks 👍
These look really good! Just wondering if catchlights aren’t a thing in sports photography? Not being snarky or anything, I just genuinely don’t know.
Very helpful! Thanks!
You're welcome!
Outstanding video. Ordering a deep focus reflector kit. Thanks man!
Thank you for your support! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video and great tips.
Thanks for watching Steve!!
this is so helpful thanks matt
Can the music be turned up any higher? I definitely don't need my eardrums.
Great video and love the explanation
This is inspiring
What's the camera settings mentioned by strobe ..
What type/brand stands are those?
Thanks for the video. Clearly a very talented photographer. Without sounding negative I feel the video had a lot of talking. I think it would have been more enjoyable to watch if it was more snappy...i did find myself skipping through just to see the shots. Thanks for sharing!!!
It's an instructional video... How do you learn just by seeing the photos?
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
anyone shoot with glasses and struggles using the eye viewer?
Now you're ready for a 2nd light back behind !! Wait .. scratch that thought, saw your 2nd light on a replay.
Good information, but way too much redundancy!
Great photographer but so much talking.
So much talking. Just do it
Too much talk…
He talked so much, and repeated things so much, that even the young lady got tired of it. This could have been done in less than half the time.
I love the way your photo shoot come out!!!
what light are you using in this shoot?
Matt is using FJ400 strobes, links to the strobes and modifiers are in the video description. Thanks for watching!
Light stands....
What light stand are you using in the photo shoot?
