When he started talking about his limited gear while showcasing INCREDIBLE work is another great reminder a good photographer can create with whatever they have. Great video
I recommend upgrading the towel to a lightweight foam pad for sleeping bags. Excellent for sitting or laying down on hard court surfaces, wet grass, dirt/mud, and snow. It also offers a clean place to set your gear down in the field.
Stunning photos Matt. Do you have any videos showing where you position your lights and settings? Presumably you are not using sofboxes - just those long reflectors?
Highspees Sync is not freezing the motion, isn’t it? A flash period time for nomal sync is typically much faster than any shutter speeder. It really just makes the background ideally illuminated.
Great tips! I'm about to buy my first set of strobes and I'm leaning toward the Godox AD300Pro but wonder if 300 watts is enough to pull off these types of photos.
The Westcott FJ400 400Ws Strobe with AC/DC Battery (US/No. America Plug) BH #WEFJ400S is not natively wireless. With separate purchase of the FJ-X3M Universal Wireless Trigger (B&H # WEFJX3MWFT), you can make power and exposure compensation adjustments at distances up to 985'. The wireless system offers 16 channels with 10 groups to prevent interference with other photographers or to shoot several individual setups. The FJ400's built-in TTL receiver is compatible with many Canon, Nikon, Sony (with adapter), FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, Olympus cameras, and the Canon RT flash system. >Mark
Hi Matt! thank you for sharing this video, it's really usefull. If you can answer this, I want to know what F, shutter speed and ISO do you use in the pictures of minute 4:20, and if you remember at what point was the flash it would be really helpful. Thank you very much, from Argentina :)
@@khiaraslaw I agree to disagree your point. It's not about being easy. You can have the "perfect setting" and have a terrible photo. Seeing camera settings correctly, gives me and others what range of settings looks good. Now a smart beginner would reference this information on there own shoot and see what works and how to customize it to there own fit.
@@khiaraslaw Your speaking facts, I cannot deny that. It's hard to just go and film/photo when you don't know what your doing. Like you do, but it just never looks good enough

What limited gear? He clearly states you should spend money on good gear if you’re trying to do it the right way
Matt Hernandez is someone I can watch all day. Very creative and I have learned so much from him
Matt’s work is very inspiring!

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Love Matt’s work!

Matt is amazing! Loved this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So what shutter speed are you using in camera? I understand the flash has high speed, but does that mean you maintain /1250 in camera? Thanks.
SO helpful. Thanks!
Matt is fire!!!
Great tips. Thanks Matt
Any lens filters that you would recommend?
Thank you. But it’s not the only method, you can use a ND Filter.
Great job Matt.. Hope to hook up soon.
Matt the best
Do you ever use a soft box with a grid when shooting sports portraits?

Oh, and would you recommend use fresnel led for this type of photos? Because I have to make video too. Thank you!
Sir, first I need to know micro 4/3 is suitable for wedding photography or not?
The quality of today's MFT cameras and lenses lend themselves to wedding phoography if you are seeking lighter and more compact gear. >Mark
Can you tell us how to get the clientele?
Would be cool if you could post a BTS of Matt or another photographer taking photos such as these and explain the camera settings, set up, and etc!
I agree, camera settings would be nice to know.
