Scott, this is the single most useful video on post processing I have ever seen!!! I have been a dabbler in On1 for years, and this new version is exactly what I've wished for, but this video is perfectly pitched and perfectly paced👌 is there any chance you could maybe do a deep dive into the organize, catalogue, cull and save features sometime? Again, this video for this version of On1 is a total game changer, I can't thank you enough!!!! All the best Scott👍
Wow! Glad you enjoyed it Graeme. A deep dive into organization…. Maybe in pieces. How we organize photos is always such a personal thing. (And I gotta finish the book update first. :)
Another first class video. I really enjoy your style and your indepth knowledge of the subject. A joy to watch!! I am currently a Luminar user and NEO has some great features, but, since watching your videos I have pre-ordered ON1 RAW 2023 and can't wait for it to come out and get to work learning this software. Thanks again for your dedication to helping us get the most from this program
I watched a video by Anthony Morganti where he showed Adaptive Presets. You and he certainly took a totally different approach in explaining this new feature on PhotoRAW 2023. He showed this feature using the Adaptive Presets that will ship with the product. It's nice to know there are 2 different ways to use this feature. Thanks to both of you.
Yes, there are several dozen included in the product, too. And between this video and Anthony's, you'll know how to dissect and modify the ones that come with the product to your own taste. Have fun!
Thanks for this early look! I’d think it would be challenging to build adaptive presets that work well across a very large range of photos. You gave some good examples here, and it will be interesting to see the ones ON1 bundles into the software too.
Adaptive presets are looking good as a better starting point for the right type of images. One point about your saving a preset. Having done the basic adjustments to tone and colour via Auto settings you did not change what you saved in the Develop part of the preset saving. To have new Auto settings generated for different images you have to drill down and uncheck all the individual settings such as exposure that you want to be set by running Auto on new image. If you leave these checked then the same values as in the original image used to generate the preset overwrite the auto settings calculated for the new image. You also need to turn off saving Lens Correction and have the preference to automatically apply lens correction to RAW images set on. I have just double checked this on my beta copy of 2023.
Thanks David ... *excellent* point about the Auto settings in presets. When I record videos, I sometimes forget to cover all the details. Thanks *very* much for highlighting this.
This is incredibly useful, thank you. I bought plug-in versions earlier in the year.. Would you delete these as the stand-alone wd do it all? Or doesn’t it? Have been an On1 Raw plus for years. There is a preset reward system which goes into the plugins but not the Stand alone. Thx for yr help.
It all depends on your workflow. If you use another app to manage your photos (Lightroom, Capture One), stick with the plugins. Photo RAW does not work as a plug-in. Wrt presets, those potentially apply across Photo RAW and plug-ins. It depends on how the preset is build. For example, a preset that has only Effects/Locals works in Photo RAW and the Effects plugin. However, a preset that uses several modules, such as Develop, Effects, and Portrait will be for Photo RAW - because plugins are singular.
Very good instructional video. The only problem for me is that On1 2023 will not save presets. I've tried several times and nothing appears in the preset panel. Even the free ones this month reported themselves as installed successfully but are nowhere to be found. Rather disappointing, perhaps will be fixed in a bug update.
Actually, I gave up on ON1 Photo Raw as of this morning. The software has a lot of bugs and it doesn't work right, with the money I keep spending on worthless upgrades I could pay for a subscription from Adobe for Photo Shop and Light Room. The people at ON1, think that I'm going to upgrade my computers every two years in order to run their software, are out of their minds. I'm not a professional, I don't earn a living doing photography so I can't afford to upgrade a computer every couple of years.
Fortunately, I have a Windows based computer and I was able to upgrade the internal hardware by myself. I doubled my memory, installed a larger SSD main drive and even upgraded the processor without having to buy another computer. You can’t do that with an Apple computer, which is why I abandoned Apple years ago. Good luck.
Well Scott, I've never believed in magic but I'm starting to suspect ON1 have recently recruited some magicians in their product development division! What this new version can do verges on sorcery to this septuagenarian who can remember using the family box Brownie in the Fifties! Itching to get my hands on my prepaid version this month (I used the SDP20 code). Cheers from DownUnder 🦘
Great Video... full of tips Thanks
Thanks Scott so well presented and explained. Adaptive Presets are certainly a power feature using the AI.
Thanks for watching, David. Have fun!
Scott, you are a first class teacher. Thanks for all you do for the photography community!
Wow, thanks, Owen. Have fun!

Awesome, thank you, Nigel!
Extremely informative. Thank you for your teaching techniques.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching, Lowell.
You and Jim Nix are my go two gurus. Thanks for your GREAT tutorials Scott!
Thanks, Barry. And Jim is awesome. Had the pleasure of photographing with him in San Diego a few years back. Have fun!
looking forward to it

Very useful ! Thans Scott.
Very welcome
Excellent tutorial Scott.
Glad you liked it!

Building truly universal presets has always been a challenge. I do think Adaptive Presets helps us get closer. Have fun!
OK, I'm impressed!
Cheers, André

That's odd ... and yes, sounds like a bug. Hopefully it'll be squashed soon.
thanks, your preview is way better than On1😉
Wow, thanks!

I just subbed to on1 everything. in my develop module I don't have an AI auto button. Why is this?
Brilliance AI in Photo RAW 2024 changed things. Check out th-cam.com/video/Rm8-fHDIbIY/w-d-xo.html for using Brilliance AI in presets.

I think you're gonna like it, Rob. And thank you for the support!
