Thank you so much for putting this video up. I was able to fix my truck It was making a horrific sound like it was ANGRY. PRAISE God for both of you and may God bless you and yours
Thank you, this made it easy for me to change out on my 2009 Dodge. But the only difference is since I have the AC outlet you have to unscrew a screw that is by it before you pull out the dash.
2011 Ram 1500 having an issue with my AC not blowing cold. Checked the AC compressor and the clutch is engaged even when the AC is turned off. The vents in the front will blow strong but the rear vents are hardly blowing. Any suggestions?
What are the symptoms of a faulty blend door/actuator? I have a 2006 Charger that doesn’t blow air all that well even though I have a full charge of refrigerant.
In case no one knows, Dodge issued a recall for this problem. Believe it or not, it's a software issue -- this actuator is computer controlled, and your truck needs a firmware update! So you can replace the actuator or turn that gear around if you want to, but the problem WILL happen again. My 2009 RAM 1500 has 41,000 miles on it and this has happened twice already.
I replaced them, and it worked once (The way home from Auto Zone), replaced them again a month later, and worked once....(on the way home from Auto Zone) lol. I gave up until I saw this comment. I have to go to Dodge now!!
0331mike when I changed my actuator I don't think I had my controls turned off. I pulled the actuator off and I heard the door fall either closed or open. I don't know if I mess anything up. For some reason the air on the right side of my truck blows hot and the driver side blows lukewarm when I have the heat turned on high
Did you replace both actuators inside that center counsel? Do you have the part numbers? If you have the other actuator behind the glove box it would be appreciated. Thanks much!
Ryan did you ever find out what was wrong? i have the same problem. Dealership said i needed a new heater core ($1200 repair) ??? 2013 Ram with 81000 miles. but i have seriously hot heat on the passenger side floor... nothing on the drivers side. Dealership said they tested all actuators and they all passed??? maybe a broken Actuator??
Angela Pollard I replaced three of the five actuators but that didn’t solve my problem and the other 2 are hard to get at one is on top of the heater core and or between the firewall and heater core and those are big jobs that require me to take off the whole dash. I haven’t gotten around to it I would suggest keep shopping around for a better price because it is a big job. I was quoted 1500 so 1200 doesn’t sound bad. Sorry I couldn’t help.
No/kinda. I found out it’s leaking freon from somewhere causing lower pressure or something. I have to keep adding freon every few months. But I keep getting different things from different folks that look at it. I would test it for leaks first
@@chasecornelison8097 a lot of folks will tell you it’s the actuator fan but I really doubt it is because I replaced mine with a brand new one and still does it
I have had a truck do that before. The knob controls the position of the blend door. If there is no power to the knob then the air will be stuck on one position. Check the fuses. Then check the connections.
Gotcha. Just talked to a Dodge tech today when I took my 1500 in for service. He heard the sound from my dash and says that its likely one of the two actuators behind the radio console as well. Good video, thanks man!
I brought my truck to the dealership 3 times untill it ran out of warranty. My poor wife doesn't get any air on her side. This is a factory defect. I told them that. They told my that it wasnt a safety problem so theres no recall on it. Thats their answer...

No problem
This video saved me probably
Atleast $100 by shoring me how to do it myself
Just spin the gear around 180 and it will work perfect. They only rotate half way anyway so it works and its free

Usually a thumping noise and you can't change the air from your feet to the dash.
Hello i dont know but my dodge from 2009 have a problem that the right side wel heat left side no heat maybe u can help
There is a blend door behind the glove box that you can change out also. See if that works.
Is there video of doing this on a ram.with the console shifter
I haven't done one.

What do you need to do to get this fixed? We have a 2010 laramie and just started having this issue.

How did you take out the top piece to get to the screws? U don’t show that.
It's a rubber matt covering the screws. You can pop it off with a screwdriver
This happened to me today air only coming out the floor vents but prior to this there was a clicking noise in my Dash
My 2011 powerwagon blows cold but it doesnt blow out hard.. Any suggestions??
Did this end up working for you
Nope
@Alberto Dicochea cabin air filter could be plugged. In the 2013 ram 1500 they are behind the glove box.
You have part numbers for these 2 accuaters
sorry I don't
what position is the blend door in when you reattach the actuator
Patrick Cunningham
It shouldn't matter. The way I understand, the system calibrates itself.
0331mike I was thinking about just taking the actuator back off with the controls turned off and reinstalling that way
Patrick Cunningham
There is also an actuator behind the glove box. You might check that one also.
0331mike I did the same thing with that one also. So I think I'm going to go back out there and just reinstall them with the controls turned off.
Did you replace both actuators inside that center counsel? Do you have the part numbers? If you have the other actuator behind the glove box it would be appreciated. Thanks much!
Yes I replaced both of the actuators inside the center console. No, I haven't replaced the one behind the glove box yet.
My 05 Dakota most likely has the same problem. Was it like a grinding noise when you change temperature on the AC controls?
DakGuy05
Yea it did
Anyone have a problem with the drivers side blowing cold and the passenger side stays hot? Any suggestions?

Im having the same problem with my vehicle, same model yall are talking about. Did you ever figure out the problem?
@Ryan Lennon I'm having the same issue with my "14 Ram. Did you ever figure out a fix
@@angelapollard6748 Did you ever get a solution to this problem. I'm having the same issue
My truck’s driver’s side AC blows hot while the Passenger’s side blows regular cold. Could this possibly solve the problem?
I don't know what would cause that.
Did you ever solve the issue because I have the same one
No/kinda. I found out it’s leaking freon from somewhere causing lower pressure or something. I have to keep adding freon every few months. But I keep getting different things from different folks that look at it. I would test it for leaks first

Did your lights on the knob stop working too when this happened??? I have a 09 and all it does is blow on the floor and the knobs dont light up??
John Bob you might have a short if the lights on the knob aren't working.
0331mike if it was shorted out wouldn’t it just quick working all together?? I have air. But all it does is blow on the floor.
I have had a truck do that before. The knob controls the position of the blend door. If there is no power to the knob then the air will be stuck on one position. Check the fuses. Then check the connections.
Were you getting a buzzing noise at startup prior to this repair? Was the defrost blowing before the fix?
Russell Maddox
It was a knocking noise
Russell Maddox
It would only blow on my feet
Gotcha. Just talked to a Dodge tech today when I took my 1500 in for service. He heard the sound from my dash and says that its likely one of the two actuators behind the radio console as well. Good video, thanks man!
What if you unplug all 3 of them and the noise is still there
There's two more behind the glove box
Great video
My truck is a Laramie, so it has the center console.... Can I do this by just removing the glove box? Or do I need to remove the whole center console?
Mark Christensen
I'm not sure. I have never worked on a Laramie ac.
You have to take off the center console. I have a Laramie as well.

dammmmmm u skipped how to remove wire connector to actuator,,,mine wont come out
i got a dead rat stuck in the ac vents some where in there any advice on how to remove it and the smell
Jimmy Flores
That sounds like you'll have to take everything apart till you find it
Dodge save a few pennies to make this part then charges you big bucks to fix their cheapness. Made to fail.
thanks
