Do you happen to know how old the practice of using chebe is? Does it go back centuries? I'm curious because I'm a history buff! I know other African hair practices and styles go back centuries and I was wondering about chebe also!
It's very easy to figure out why their hair grows so long with that, yeah it has nutrients and vitamins, but the real reason is because; first, they mix it with oil, saturate their hair with it then braid it, second, they don't wash it out and they pretty much do this on a regular basis. Their hair never breaks off with this method, the weight of the oils and powder stretches the hair and they are able to see and retain length. It would be difficult for ANYONE in our kind of society to do the original method because of the negativity associated with greasy or oily looking hair, it's also time consuming, most of those women don't have 9-5's or deal with hectic city life. They have a strict daily routine and maintaining their hair in this way is a part of their routine and culture.
Yeah true. I wear a lot of protective styles. My hair is very healthy, but I'm already using products the constantly stay on my hair and keep it moisturized. I'm gonna give it a shot to replace what I'm already using
Amazing how God provides us everything we need. Coincidence this plant grows in Africa. My mama taught me not to believe in coincidences, there’s no such thing as coincidences.
Bleu Ivy my momma said coincidence is God winking at you. 🥰 when she got cancer I got moved in to help care for her. Mommas neighbor is from Senegal and she told me about this stuff and said to use it on moms hair while she underwent chemo. Immediately her hair loss was so much less. My momma never lost all her hair. Our Senegalese angel made sure of that. In return my momma didn’t lose her female dignity. When my momma passed away Mariyam came to the house and prayed with me . And then helped me do moms hair before family came in to say goodbye! This stuff helped combat chemotherapy. It’s legit.
Like I almost typed same ..... Like girl, how did that robe not get stained... I be trying my shoe laces and somehow my white cap has to have a stain or something
the chebe powder treatment is not washed out the same day. it is reapplied every 3 days and then washed out. the best feed back would be from someone with short hair using it overtime and presenting a significant hair growth out come.
In my experience when you give attention to your hair weekly at least it will grow . When you neglect it it really won’t show much improvement. Love your hair like you will love you child nurture yourself and your health will improve
Thats true. Doing low maintenance hair styles like braid outs and twist outs keeping it moisturized and hydrated with aloe vera juice and trims really help hair grow

I used this method along with banding. I reapplied and combed my hair every three days just like they do in Africa. I saw alot of growth retention. My hair was super long and the bands were very protective. I used less powder and made a hair pomade that contained powder instead. It was still messy but the pomade helped the mess stick to my hair instead of my clothing and body. I would definitely use it again but i stopped because the ingredients were very expensive.

I wonder if the chebe actually helps as much as they think, or their growth is mostly from the fact that they leave their hair in a well conditioned protective style. They keep their hair in braids from the moment they are young girls and only take it down to reapply the chebe & braids. Either way, they habe gorgeous hair!! I love that their hair styling process is almost a ritual and a community activity. Like back in the days when momma's, aunties and sisters used to do our hair as children. 💕
Actually,it stops breakage, makes the hair softer,it's just amazing ! Leaving hair in protective style doesn't always grow the hair. This stuff does, and it moisturizes the hair. My 4C hair has never been happier. Am curious how the Chadian women discovered this was good for hair
Everything you said is true and i came here trying to find out exactly how or why it does work. I’ve been doing the same thing more or less to my hair in the last 6 months. I added some growth oil with chebe to my routine and noticed it growing twice as fast! I’ve been eating a little more bc of winter but I’m retaining over an inch/month! 😱 I’d only been using coconut oil before that so there’s some extra magic to it for sure 🥰✨
Interesting....Im late, but thanks for the replies yall!! I never tried it, so wasn't sure. I wonder if it can be used to infuse with water and spray the hair only as a leave in??? Not the scalp...just the hair. This way you don't have to worry about rinsing out the sediment. Ive seen people complain of scalp issues when the powder is used incorrectly and applying it to the scalp for like making scalp oils etc. But I feel like it would make a nice conditioning spray if only used on the hair like how I use my green tea henna mix! 🤔
I'm Chadian and that's true we do it and mix by ouer selfs and we mix it with special oils in this video she make it with different way than us but that's tru most of Chadian have along hair and it's one of our traditional thing all women have to do that every day😍 and that thing name is ( Shui ) and there is anther thing mix it with called( belelya )😘
Mis Botswana thank you so much my dear for your help. I am in Kasane so they charge me a lot to buy from Gaborone I checked it in Livingstone I am on it
Fyi I was browsing on Amazon after watching this video. They already have the cheba powder made up in a jar with oil just in case you dont want to mix it yourself. It comes in 3 different sizes and yes it is made by the same manufacturer as the powder used in this video
I make a hair tea with the Chebe powder when I use it on my daughter's hair. If not, we have to do alot of rinsing. Her hair is growing and in great condition.
@@itsjustJemima that's great. I do want to tell you that I usually use Jamilla Henna with it, but she has very strong hair and I know her hair can handle both at the same time. Maybe if you use both together, perhaps try it on a small section of hair to test it.
@natural _ambi I started using it once a month in her hair back in September last year. She was 9 at the time and I can only get her to agree on washing her hair once per month. Because of that I usually add Jamilla Henna to make the tea. After her hair was done, I could see that her hair was in very good condition and stronger. I noticed growth immediately. By the next month, her hair had significant growth ( I didn't measure). I can say that I trimmed her hair (when I first used the Chebe/Henna tea in September) to about where her shoulder blades end and I just washed and blow dried her hair yesterday and it has grown down to just above her waist. I think if it was used every time her hair was washed, it wouldgive better results or maybe if the tea is used as a leave in it would work better. I wear my hair in twists, so I may try using the Chebe tea as a leave in. I use rice water to detangle her hair also and I leave it on and apply the deep conditioner on top. The rice water helps her hair, but adding the Chebe has made her hair really nice. Hope this wasn't too long.
That is their Blue Magic Hair Grease. It does the same thing as Hair Grease. Protects the hair and strengthens it. They only wash their hair once a month. Your hair will do the same using Blue Magic and braids. It is cheaper and no mess. I am sure they have a sure way of removing it. You need short hair to get good results. Plus, it does the same as hair grease.
That's exactly what my sister does. I haven't tried it yet but she seems happy with it. She mixes it with an olive oil leave in conditioner is the most I know.
WE should use it for growth, but we should not pull so much from the front scalp as it over times cause hair not to grow there. WE should adjust the application method over time in order to make sure the hair continues to grow in the front.
I just started trying it. Yes after washing it was soft but when my 4C hair dried it was dry again so I plan to do it again this weekend. I also kept it on over night and as long as the following day until I was ready to go out. like 16 hours. YOUR HAIR is beautiful.
While I appreciate all these haird products and regime I just feel the need to say back I the days all this wasn't around and many people had nice long black thick hair. Nice video love your hair BTW😍
I've been using this stuff since summer and my hair has grim and stopped breaking.. but I wet my hair first, then I put it in my oil squirting bottle (along with a bunch of other oils)and apply to my scalp. My hair hasn't been happier.
Out of ALL the videos I've seen on Women of Color hair growth this one by far is the best for me in terms of trying the Chebe powder and my favorite oil. This has nothing to do with all of the other wonderful videos that are out there about hair growth it is just I feel this treatment will be the best for me at this time. Thank you for sharing.
I have the powder and the pre-made chebe that comes in the jar. I was looking for my hair to be stronger but after 1 use you won't see a major change. It is time consuming to get ALL of the paste out of your hair. I'm doing the rice water which is less messy and it does work. Thanks for the video.
@Ann Marie Its where you ferment the rice by soaking the rice for 24-48 hours, then taking it and rinsing your hair with it after cleansing. Leave on for about 20-45 mins then I add my deep conditioner, and then let it sit for about and hour, then rinse. It helps the strength the hair strand, and nourishes the scalp and hair follicles. Look for "Curlyproverbz" she explains it all. But you will feel the difference. Hope that helps
Maryam, I could see a difference in the condition of your hair after you rinsed out the Chebe. I admire how the women from Chad have used Chebe to grow and protect their hair. However, it's too messy for me, which is why I've never applied ayurvedic powders to my hair either.
I tired leaving the treatment on for 4 days and it was all messy, so I never tired it after then but it's a good one to know I can just leave it over night and rinse it all out. Thanks girl
Can I leave the chebe in my hair and then get box braids because I wear box braids as a protective style? Although I'm afraid because I don't want a protein overload.
Sheba is used in Morocco to and the way its used is a lot less messier than the powderd version. You buy sheba (a branch should be enough, sheba is used as tea so if you cant find it African stores try tea stores) put it in olive oil a few months (2-3 dark place&normal temperature) after that use it everyday after waking up or before going to bed. Brush your hair put a little bit in it or people with curly hair that cant brush their hair before going out, just put a little thoroughly. It takes some time but after two weeks you' ll start seeing results your hair gets softer and your hair will start growing in a few months (dont wash your hair everyday)

@@hawassami2159 yes it's used as tea also my mom (she's moroccan) drinks it all the time because of its benefits (i personally don't like the way it tastes, but each his own). I'm not sure about all of Morocco but Fès (my moms city) it's used a lot there so i take it's used in most places in Morocco especially the desert part and most of the northern part where most different cultures (historically) are mixed. As far as i know tea is the only way one can consume orally, other than that i find keeping it oil for few months and using it on your hair the best way to use
@@hawassami2159 but the different thing is probably that we only use it in winter not in the summer because it's spicy but it protects against colds and so on. What we also do with it is use it for our face, it's a good way to detoxify your skin. Ps: I don't write in Arabic back because I'm still not confident about my Arabic skill but i can read perfectly
In my opinion whenever I didn't pay attention to my hair, other than wash and go, was the longer and healthier its got. Now as for skin, u are beautiful 😍. What do u use on your skin?
You can do this with a protective style or even if you have Dread Locks and if you wear a wig this is great and my hair has grown plenty.Amazob has the Chebe Paste in a jar that is what I use less mess and easy-to-use.
I was just looking at the Miss Sahel video the other day, it had resurfaced on my facebook timeline. I definitely want to try this Chebe powder, I'm glad I came across this video.
I started using Chebe about a month ago. It's too soon to tell if it really does all that people say it does. But, I did notice less shedding. I take my hair down and reapply every 5 days . I have to wash by week 3 or my scalp suffers.I wore a twa for 8 years and started to grow my hair during the pandemic. Since fall of 2020 to now, I have grown over 12 inches, but retained 10. But truthfully just started Ayurveda and powders a year ago. I really did not do much to my hair the year I worked remotely, but I used chemical dye after having about 5 inches of hair growth and need to use a lot of restorative products to strengthen by hair because the dyes damaged my hair. BTW I have combination 4ABC hair. The trick is to be patient and love your hair at all stages. There is no miracle product for fast growth. Also, I think you will know if a product is working for you if you pay attention to your hair. I keep a hair journal. I know it sounds OCD, but I just use it to record when I do a hair challenge or hair goal and length check.
I think you did it well ! Because, by using chebe powder, we’re supposed to leave in, it’s better at least to let it seat more than two hours. A night like you did is I think, perfect. Plus you’re right, it’s not something you would do on regular basis if you don’t leave in, it’s better to use it occasionally, like once in two weeks.
Since this is your first time using it and bc you already have long beautiful hair, can we see the before and after results of your regular use of this product later on? ☺️ great video too
I attribute the long hair to genetics , if someone with long hair has a kid from somebody with long hair more than likely the kid is going to have long hair
I tried this powder for two months it did not grow my hair instead i lost length and it was a lot of work to remove the powder from my hair i give up .
I just ordered a small amount. If I do this every other week, I will order for 3 months and see. The other site has higher shipping cost, so I bought mine from Amazon. I hope that it will stop my ends from breaking. Remember, this female that is doing this video had long hair to begin with, so she is 3 steps ahead. I usually braid my hair in 2 sections,,,,,happy hair everyone.
I had ordered this from amazon two days ago and got it to my house yesterday so I used it on my hair last night and this morning when I woke up my hair is short and I put it into my scalp I do feel it working
Nice vid! Great info. I keep mine in and reapply every 3 days. This is my yearly challenge for massive growth. I only wash one time a month. I also use different concoctions in terms of mixing. Sometimes I use leave in conditioners and chébé and other times I just use castor oil with the chébé. I have done this already for a year and this is documented on my channel. I am into my second year now and I am using chébé with as many products as possible! It’s fun to see the results. It is an awesome hair strengthener! Thanks so much for being willing to use chébé on your hair and showing us the results on long, gorgeous hair!
We understand, Maryam. You do have an active, very Americanized lifestyle so messing with the powder would not fit. The natives, however, don't have anywhere to go so they can keep it in. I'm gonna do it their way, keeping it in indefinitely, but in winter I'll cover my head with a hat and summer in protective, African twisted scarfs. Thanks for the demo.
I would LOVE to try it how much me and my daughter's LOVE long THICK hair..We tryn this to be a natural no perms no dyes we want our own no weaves which we dont do
Hello, do you have any information to how this product will work on grey hair or any other color? Will it change the color lighter color hair? Thank you for your time!
By the way you already has amazing you know the saying if it’s not broke don’t fix it God has bless u with Long natural beautiful curly hair and is very healthy and pretty so just leave it alone😘

Meredith Cryer awww thanks for clarifying hun. Much appreciated 💛 I'll be sure to give you a shout out on my channel 🙌
Meredith Cryer thanks for the helpful tips! How do you make the tea though? You boil water, then add the Chebe powder and mix?
That is their Blue Magic Hair Grease. It does the same thing as Hair Grease. Protects the hair and strengthens it. They only wash their hair once a month. Your hair will do the same using Blue Magic and braids. It is cheaper and no mess. I am sure they have a sure way of removing it. You need short hair to get good results. Plus, it does the same as hair grease.
This resembles a clay wash. Why not use it in a conditioner for added benefits and it would probably be easier to wash it out.
That's exactly what my sister does. I haven't tried it yet but she seems happy with it. She mixes it with an olive oil leave in conditioner is the most I know.
I believe it’s because the tribe uses it to conceal moisture.
I wear wigs regularly so I def wanna try this to see if I have any accelerated growth.
I love chebe powder!!! I use it every two weeks before washdays and it has made my hair become thicker
Where did get this chebe powder???
@@mapumulopampamela It is on Amazon
I saw dark powder and white everywhere and my anxiety shot through the roof 😂😂 but wow, your hair is amazing
Not everything needs to be told soon they will market this and call it their own invention
I loved chebe! It grew my hair so nicely
How long have you been using it?
I have the powder and the pre-made chebe that comes in the jar.
I was looking for my hair to be stronger but after 1 use you won't see a major change. It is time consuming to get ALL of the paste out of your hair.
I'm doing the rice water which is less messy and it does work.
Thanks for the video.
@curli-lettey where did get one in a jar?
@@Nyotakikora1
I ordered the jar (and the powder) from UHURUNATURALS, Etsy.
@@Nyotakikora1 thanks
I use the rice water about once a week, it thickens and adds length, been using it for about 2 weeks, it really works
Maryam Hampton has to be growing her hair natural since birth. So has the beautiful, thick, soulful hair. I miss my Afro. I’m loc’d now
Im gonna try this, I’m 3 months in on my natural journey and I need my hair to grow fastttt
The powder's amazing I tried 2 times is 2 much work but it worth it special if you want to have long hair.
Where can I get it
Does it smell??..
How often do you put the chebe powder on your hair?
How in the world did you get your hair to grow so long!?! Omgosh it's gorgeous 💕🌸💕
She looks mix race
Duh she’s mixed.
Maryam, I could see a difference in the condition of your hair after you rinsed out the Chebe. I admire how the women from Chad have used Chebe to grow and protect their hair. However, it's too messy for me, which is why I've never applied ayurvedic powders to my hair either.
Hi maryam am from kenya how can i get the powder my dear sister waiting for your rply thank u
Even me I want to try it when did i get it.
I tired leaving the treatment on for 4 days and it was all messy, so I never tired it after then but it's a good one to know I can just leave it over night and rinse it all out. Thanks girl
Well IG I'ma have chebe powder under my wigs
LOL...ME TOO GIRL!!!
Lol 😂😂😂😂.
Girl ,chebe powder under my sew-iiiiins🤣💜
Same. I always have 4 braids under my wgs. Now imo have chebe AND 4 braids 😂
🤭 me too girl
I love chebe! This is my 2nd times using it for the 40 days .It really keeps your hair moist and stop breakage.
Kimberly Blair ....do u have 4c hair? can u list what oils you mix it with and how long u leave it on??
Your hair is supposed to be moist before aplying the powder.
Thank you that was my question you answered it!
Queen Ateeba you're welcome💕
I didn't even finish the video, when you said the name and on Amazon. I ordered immediately. Then finished your video. Thank you for sharing 💙💙💙
Lol I needed to see how she rinsed this out first. I have work to go to. Cant wear this all the time
Can I leave the chebe in my hair and then get box braids because I wear box braids as a protective style? Although I'm afraid because I don't want a protein overload.
The nature of the paste isn’t practical as a leave in before a long protective style. Also that protein thing too
How is there protein? it's crushed up leaves.
Thanks for the video..and now we all know what Blue Ivy is gonna look like when she grows up...just beautiful!!
When I saw the plant I was like what!!! This stuff grows in our backyards like weed🤣
@@IraQxNajafia great job my sister continue and thanks for the information
and lm not good in English language to😁😔
In my opinion whenever I didn't pay attention to my hair, other than wash and go, was the longer and healthier its got.
@Maryam Hampton
How long can this last in your hair? I normally wear weave or wigs to protect my hair. "African Hair secrets".

So glad I saw this video although I wouldn’t leave powder in my hair overnight for fear of not getting it all out.
I can't ladies.i don't know what to believe anymore❤❤❤❤
Which one is the original Chebe powder on amazon so many people have remixed it
I use this product and it is amazing I love the way my hair looks and feels 🌹❤️
Who else is running from one youtube channel to another to see the best nd easy way to grow the hair
I want to try this. My hair has been the same length for too long.
Have you tried liquid biotin?
@@trishtrish999 no haven't tried that but I just taking started taking hair skin & nails vitamins.

Oh my gosh... Now I know what Blue Ivy will look like. Awesome
I knew that they were going to be selling this soon
Beautiful, Blessings to your Parents because genetics plays a major role.
Gwendolyn de Ashborough 💯💯💯💯
Everyone's hair grows at the same rate. Its how you care for it to see results and length. Nothing about genetics cause i have 4c mid back hair.
Hair growth is definitely based on genetics
How often should I wash my hair during Chebe treatments? Once a week or once a month? I have 4c, low porosity & middle thick hair
I tried this powder for two months it did not grow my hair instead i lost length and it was a lot of work to remove the powder from my hair i give up .
Does it mean it dsnt work on all hairs
هل توجد هذه البودرة عند بائع الاعشاب
These natural hair products are very similar to Sudan’s 🇸🇩 !
We use henna in sudan. This chebe looks very similar tho. I tried both. Both are very messy and difficult to wash off. Aint nobody got time for that 😅
I would recommend straining it thru a cheese cloth and then apply to the hair
I bought the paste a few months ago and I've yet to try it. I will be trying it soon. Hopefully it works. Great review 👍.
Neh-Bih Sangbong how did it go?
Yesss hunty come through with the hair growth tips 🙌🏾
Delanda Thornton yesss I’m on the rice water still
I just ordered a small amount.
I feel like you can do the same thing with henna, or brahmi, or any other powder
That was amazing. I had never heard of Chebe powder before.
I had ordered this from amazon two days ago and got it to my house yesterday so I used it on my hair last night and this morning when I woke up my hair is short and I put it into my scalp I do feel it working
Don't put in on your scalp
Nice vid!
Please can get chebe in Uganda
There are so many Chebe powders out there what's a good one?
We understand, Maryam. You do have an active, very Americanized lifestyle so messing with the powder would not fit. The natives, however, don't have anywhere to go so they can keep it in. I'm gonna do it their way, keeping it in indefinitely, but in winter I'll cover my head with a hat and summer in protective, African twisted scarfs. Thanks for the demo.
I need to try this!!! 😍😍😍
Takara Oneá yesss
How can I get it pls
I would LOVE to try it how much me and my daughter's LOVE long THICK hair..We tryn this to be a natural no perms no dyes we want our own no weaves which we dont do

Soultanicals sells a conditioner with Chebe in it I haven't used it yet but it would probably be a better alternative.
I agree but chebe doesn't make uiir hair long. Chebe helps to retain hair length prevent breakage and it seals in moisture. All hair types would benefit from using.
