Can I Afford My E46 BMW M3? The Cost to Own?

- Rarely does anyone tell you how much it costs to maintain a sports car. One of the larger expenses is tires, which I’ll talk about today.
This is only a quick explanation of costs. This does not include any upgrades or fun parts. One must make sure their car is up to date before adding cool parts.

I just got a full set for my M3, 275 rear, 255 front. I got Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3's, and a full set cost me $1100 fitted. I presume these are Michelin Pilot Sports or similar to have costed that much.
While I do agree with your sentiment that you have to be prepared for a higher cost of ownership with the M3 (absolutely you do), I think that if you do most things yourself, it's not really that different from a non-M. There are certain things you don't have to worry about as much on an M3, like not worrying about the M54's horrible CCV system, or cooling system.
Great cars - worth investing into! I do not envy anyone who has to take theirs to a shop to get all the work done though.

I agree, I tend to all the labor, but some of the parts prices/tires seem to be a bit more especially compared to my e30. I’ll be doing all the belts, tensioners, thermostat and valve adjustment soon. I heard the shop charges a lot for a valve adjustment so it’s nice that I can do this work. Thanks again for watching!!
How much money for fuel and if there are any problems are in parts i am a 16 year old and my dad is saying mechanics loves to make money on mercedes and bmws but its my dream car to own a 1996 mercedes or e46 bmw
So i am really trying to know how much does it cost for fuel to go to school or do uber like a daily drive can you please tell me the monthly cost and if the mechanics are expensive
Hey!! Great question. The last time I filled up the M3 it was $85 and it lasted about 325 miles. The M3 is substantially more expensive than my e30 325is. Parts and labor are soooo much more. An e46 325i would be much cheaper than an e46 M3. For example, I needed tires and spent over $2,000 on four tires. I would look for an e46 325i or 330i or an e36.
