  • Step by step very detailed video on how to remove and install the steering gear box, power steering pump, high pressure steering lines, and pitman arm on the 1999-2007 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks and also bleed the whole system at the end. In this video I upgraded the factory steering box to a blue top brand and also upgraded the pitman arm to a Moog heavy duty one. I will provide links to all the parts and tools used in the video below.

    Excellent video! I appreciate the in depth detail and specifically the part numbers you provided. Made it much easier for me to get the correct parts as I had ordered the incorrect pitman arm (32 tooth, instead of the 33 tooth). This helped a lot.
    After a failed attempt at replacing the seals on my original steering box, i ended up having to just replace the entire box and pitman arm. With your video i was able to get the old one out in under 15 minutes and bled the air properly once i filled the system up. Which i did not do correctly when i just replaced the seals, which most likely caused them to fail again.
    Cheers!

    You have a great talent of being informative and right to the point. My favorite part is you didn’t try and be funny or witty for clicks. Refreshing to watch an hour plus video that I didn’t feel the need to fast forward through half of it. Great job my friend!

    Your video on the water pump form DHD was fantastic. Ordered one from Dirty Hooker. Everything went well until my mechanic called telling me the 2.5” O ring was missing from the package. DHD will most likely help w the problem. Of course the problem was found just prior to a three day weekend. Will provide an update on customer care from DHD on Tuesday, May 28. Content on this channel is exceptional. That’s why I am viewing for my gearbox project that waits. 16 ounce of fluid in four miles.

    Awesome video, without it I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my own so easily. Helped me replace my whole setup. 100% better than taking it to a shop and paying a fortune.

    I put a bluetop on my 07 classic 2500 and I got less than 5000 miles at 2 am 50 miles away from Kennewick Wa. Had to have a mobile mech. come out and replace the gear box with one from an auto parts store. 700.00 later we

      So far the guy I did this for hasn’t had any issues with his blue top. Did you contact them about the issue I believe they have great customer service and would take care of the issue.

      BlueTop tefused to offer anything at all. Blamed the pressure in our stock system for the failure of their seal. Never had an issue with the original box ( other than slop) and same with the replacement Cardone box currently on the the truck. We were incredibly disappointed that BlueTop took no responsibility whatsoever.

    Excellent video. Good job! Just thinking out loud here. I think the PS pump has a ~3/8 hex shaft, so you could possibly leave the serpentine belt off and use something like a cordless 3/8 ratchet with 3/8 allen bit to prime the PS pump & whole hydoboost system without having to start the engine....

    is this your truck? if so, hows the bluetop after a month? i just ordered mine. i have gm oem bracket/idler arm and pitman going on along with it, and also 2011 hydroboost already installed. hoping all this helps me wear on the outter tires and the major slop in my steering.

      No this is not my truck but a buddy of mine. He loves the blue top it cleaned up his steering slop and brakes feel way better with the updated hydro boost.

    Why did you buy a pitman arm for a 1500 and not the 2500 hd?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 1500 and 2500 use the same pitman arm there’s no difference.

      I just did my front diff, water pump and steering box with pitman arm on my 05 Sierra. The shaft dropped when I removed the box and I could not get it to push up to get the shaft into the box. Thank you, your video showed me how to get it back together.
