Are the mechanical trees Demeter's creation though? Lets assume for the moment they are.
Hephaestus forcefully infiltrated CYAN's systems... and it's very likely that it did the same with the trees because they all had the same purple glow to them. If Demeter was cooperating with Hephaestus, why would its trees need to be infiltrated by it?

    • @gssbruno
      @gssbruno 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@deksroning125 I don't know if hephaestus would be able to create the trees, in the game we have the metallic flowers, indicating that Demeter can create non organic materials. The forbidden West trailer shows animals and plants dying, indicating something is wrong with the ecosystem. I think the plot of the next game will be around Demeter and Hades.

Yes, but I doubt that if Demeter was cooperating with Hephaestus, its creations would need to be taken over directly (like Cyan was - showing purple tendrils/light around it).
I agree that its very possible the trees were created by Demeter... but I don't agree with the notion it was cooperating with Hephaestus.
GAIA did mention the terraforming system would continue operations for some time after her destruction but after that, it would grow increasingly erratic... and the trailer from the second game could show this with the increasingly unstable weather in certain regions... or, another AI trying something with the terraforming system by manipulating the weather.

Minerva goddess of poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, crafts, magic. Demeter goddess of the earth, agriculture, and fertility. In horizon zone dawn Minerva was the fading blue light in the banuk camp. My theory is Minerva and Demeter are working together. Minerva came make other machines homeless or aggressive, and most of the subordinate functions jobs are based on real and Greek world counterparts. also like Hades, she could have loaded herself to another location. and as for Apollo at the end in Elizabeth Sobek hand was a metal purse with the earth painted on it, Apollo astronaut looking back at earth

I can't see Demeter having any real problem with going back to Gaia, or otherwise not interfereing. Artemis will likely want to stay neutral and just keep an eye on her animals. Minerva's only job was to kick the ass of the Faro systems so she's not a threat one way or the other.

I've been thinking that CYAN knows a great deal of how things were before the Faro Plague. She may not be Apollo, but then again, her exposure from media alone would dwarf any 'pre Faro plague ordinary human' knowledge of the past anyway... and she could compile most data about mathematics, physics, biology (if she has them - probably does) and all other fields...
In this game, if you visit all cauldrons, after defeating the main boss in each cauldron, and by using your staff on the main console, you gain the ability to take control of other machines...
but something else would probably happen... by taking control of each of the consoles in each of the cauldrons, she probably has full command access to them ... or at least, enough of it to manufacture new focuses, new cities, etc. (anything really).
By simply being able to make more focuses (or distributes them from one of the main Cradle Facilities - like all Mother mountain) to both her native tribe (at least those who are willing) and the Banuk, Cyan could probably interface with those, and compile educational plans to bring humans (and kids) of this new world 'up to speed'.

Rebuilding Gaia would have to be done via the Cauldrons.
Sylens did explain they can manufacture any technology that's needed for a given task... so, to that end, I don't think Aloy needs help of other educated humans... she simply needs to input instructions into the cauldrons to repair and reboot GAIA.
Besides, in her dying plea, GAIA did mention the terraforming system will continue operations for some time in her absence (post self-destruction), however in an increasingly chaotic manner.
This is why I think that education of most humans would have to wait a bit... and Aloy will either have assistance from some of the more open minded people from this game (such as Varl and Erend perhaps), or she will go at it alone.

@@deksroning125 I think that's why she needs the ai's on her team so they can do all that coding stuff. Those A.I's (even though Gaia stated they aren't such) ARE her. Like an arm or a leg or organ.
And besides. It would feel really weird to have Aloy suddenly know how to code and fiddle with something light-years more advanced then sticking a mind-control cylinder up a robots arse.
That's why I think it would be better for her to act as a bridge rather then the concrete solution. Just like her former self. She created Gaia so that she could create herself. She didn't do all the heavy lifting.

I am extremely glad that Cyan remained alive and active following the events of TFW. It was a shame that there is no Gaia to speak to since she destroyed herself. Either Gaia or Cyan would qualify as "All Mother" by the Nora Tribes definition of them. They could actually meet their own creator, technically. With some discussion with Cyan before hand she could act as All Mother for the Nora and be their guide and protector.

I didn't understood it in my first run, but since the strange signal that freed Gaia's functions also made them full AI, it would be possible for them to do Gaia's job. Under the condition of really killing Hades and either take over Hephaestus or find a way to stop him seeing human hunts as a threat (the whole system was made to build endless supplies of terraforming machines, it's not like humans were attacking Hepha himself)

But I wouldn't be surprised if CYAN ends up taking a bigger role in the world... perhaps replacing Apollo.

@@tlotpwist3417 Humans were meant to be educated by APOLLO subroutine and subsequently take control of the terraforming system and the Cauldrons (which can manufacture any technology that's needed for a given task).
But because Ted Faro (the moron) purged Apollo, this never happened. Humans didn't understand that the machines are there to terraform the Earth and in the absence of this understanding they started hunting machines for spare parts (to create tools, etc.)
Its not about Hephaestus building machines infinitely... because simply speaking, this is not very efficient or sustainable in the long run, but Hephaestus would still need to stop killing Humans, and Humans would also need to stop hunting machines.

My guess is Minerva is the one who eventually decodes the Apollo databases (those data stores are pretty resilient and can last for 1000s of years even without cooling - so what Faro did was probably erasing the code that reads and decodes the DNA sequences, not destroying the actual data).

    • @CrimsonArcturus

I think its hubris to think we can create somthing that awesome. I'm not even 100% convinced the nuclear weapons we have are truly the mass extinction level threat we have been told. It would certainly destroy human civilization, but destroy the biosphere? The radiation is far worse than the blast. And mutation is a natural process. Yes the rate would increase by several levels of magnitude, yes radiation burns and cancer kill too, yes climate change can have long term affects, but I don't think the flora and fauna of the more remote areas of the world will care. I don't think AI capable of destroying humanity could be made at the level people are worrying without the containment procedures developing alongside them. If the AI ever did get out of control, there is no reason to think we would lose control of it AFTER completing the necessary algorithms and weaponizing it. In all reality if a breach were to occur, it would be when the technology is newest and least understood. It would require criminal levels of neglect and outright stupidity on the part of Humanties smartest individuals to fk this up.
By comparison, our nuclear weapons are purposely built using old tech, to make it physically impossible to hack or control using new tech. The machines, diodes, and wiring are all controlled using keys, old fashioned floppy disks, and toggle switches, requiring a human operator, sealed in facilities with no internet or cable connections of any kind that can interface with the launch computer. This launch computer is a computer in the most literal sense. It is hard wired for one job, one series of calculations only. It's not a personal computer with loads of unused code and software that can be misused, changed, or accessed remotely. The only communication methods are phone and radio. Neither of which have any way of physically interacting with the analogue weapon systems or computers. Such a facility could be used to hold an AI as well, with manual upload ports for outside information to be injected into the remote system in packets, making it physically impossible for the AI to get out, or anything unwanted from getting in without humans putting it there.

Nah, typical. These writers think emotion is the result of higher intelligence. What morons. Emotion is the most primitive form of thought. It is the human equivalent to animal instinct. One could say with no exaggeration that emotion is instinct. A radically inaccurate and relativistic means of interacting with the outside world.
From the simplest single celled organisms, all creatures interact with the world in a purely reactionary way. At the mercy of the breeze so to speak. All output is simply a chemical or neurological reaction to an environmental input. The key difference between simple spineless cellular organisms, and more advanced creatures that breaks this mold is the ability to imagine and think abstractly. The ability to create logical equations out of disjointed parts, rather than rely on the outside world to provide all stimuli, advanced organisms can simulate mental stimulation internally. A common example of this in humans that we have not yet observed in any other animal is "imagination" the ability to remember things that you have never encountered before. Most animals have no imagination. Thier knowledge is limited to what they can observe. Humans also have abstract thinking such as symbolism to allow us to imagine physical representations of unobservable phenomenon. Such as numbers, words, pictures, and other man made stimuli that carry far more information than can be observed naturally. This creativity is the division between natural and unnatural. It can be said all things that exist in the world are part of said world, and thus are natural. But there exist human constructs that have no physical presence, such as the internet. These abstract things can not even in the broadest and literal definition be classified as natural.
Emotion is not human, it is animal. Imagination and logic is human.
Tree hugging hippies can get fucked by a horse cock if they love "nature" so much.
Nothing else is both so pointless and equally prolific than the human construct of nature. The common observation that man and beast are radically different is not hard to observe. It's so obvious it requires no imagination at all. But the superstitious assumption that nature is perfection, and thus man must be imperfect by default is both illogical and paradoxical. The very word is simply describing a human construct. The delineation between artificial and natural is not a description of a literal observation. It is an abstract categorization of things. Being that the very idea is man made would mean it would have to be imperfect if man were imperfect.
This argument is so pointless it rivals relativism in unnecessary complexity. Nature does not exist. There is and there is not. Only our perception of what is and isn't is up for debate. Nature is nothing more than a word we use to describe things we make and things we don't make. Any value placed on those things is intrinsic, or subjective.
This is why hippies disgust me so much. Their pseudo intellectual superstitions have set society back possibly decades with their feel good bull shit. The only reason any of these societal drop outs have any success at winning over the masses is by giving the people a cheap excuse to shed all responsibility to be a functional contributor to society, by vilifying the very society they rely upon for thier physical existence!
Them and the champagne socialists who tweet about how evil corporations are while sipping their Starbucks coffee on their i-phone, wearing designer jeans, in a city who's entire economic foundation is built on multinational corporations.
But just because they don't complain about paper straws or participate in some other token conservation program they think they have the moral and intellectual merit to challenge the only man made thing to abide by any natural laws: society.
Placing emotions over logic is precisely the kind of idiotic thing these people do, they have so little imagination I can read them like a book. These writers are a bunch of NPC hipster elitists who are using this game to channel their bullshit superstitions like propaganda. It doesn't explore anything new, at best the story is just a plot device to drive gameplay. The themes and ideas portrayed are tired old tropes and platitudes.
I can see every trope and artistic "inspiration" just from this video alone. These people wouldn't know art if they fell into a painting in Super Mario 64. They have no creativity, no inner monologue, they just parrot the talking points and vague narratives of yesteryear's counter culture and think its fresh because it's in a video game. Not judging the game mind you. Just the writers.

Wow, you managed to tie in, like, everything. Little bit of bestiality in there too. Weird that's where your mind went for an example.
While you have a salient point about the general concept of a programmer putting time and effort into making an AI experience emotions, whoa mama did you get off topic.
And if anything is setting human society back, I think I'd take swings at fundamental religious beliefs, callous corporate short-sightedness, or just general human stupidity before I took aim at hippies.

Also, for somebody who claims to place logic over emotion, you seem to harbor a lot of vitriol and anger in your argument.
      "What *morons."*

You are clearly not above emotion, not by a long shot.
