You so remind me of myself when my yougn's were young, and they knew were Appalachian hillbillies but they didn't know how poor we was, hubby and I worked 2 jobs each, now I'm an old woman, my body is broken down, and hubby went to heaven, so ...I love your humor, I need that, you are so pretty and real!!!!! You aren't putting a pretend for anyone. You are the real deal girl and I so love your recipes but since it's just me I don't cook anymore😢 but I used to love to cook and I made and decorated birthday and wedding cakes for 40 years. ❤😊
I learned to make fried rice a few years ago. I can feed my family on a few eggs, rice, and some odds and ends of vegetables. We love Asian food. Tina, Al's wife
I am absolutely addicted to your channel!!!! I ❤️ how you explain your recipes! I enjoy your sweet personality, laughter and your family taste testers! Keep it up!!!
I absolutely love this series. Knowing how to do it at home and what’s in it are fantastic. No wonder your channel keeps growing, and besides you are super talented and funny. Thanks for caring about us so much. Can’t wait to see more. Love 💕 and Hugs. 💙💙💙
Love this series! For Fathers Day we did a "Red lobster at home", box mix of cheddar biscuits, caesar salad, rice, grilled salmon pieces and shrimp scampi....it wasn't nearly as cheap as our typical dinner but it was about $40 for 5 people instead of over $100! And there were leftovers!
I like to save the ends of the green onions, and plant them in a raised garden bed on patio or in a pot placed near a window indoors. They will grow a whole other batch of green onions, over and over again. I kept 2 store bought bunches going all the through winter (Oregon coast) that even stood right back up after the ice storm we had this past winter. Saves money, and I always have green onions for General Tso's chicken, stir fry's, fried rice, etc.
I have had my green onions growing from the last bunch I bought from the grocery store for 3 months now. They have slowed down, but they are hanging in there!
Brooke, I absolutely love all of your vids, particularly the copy-cat ones. In fact, most of your vids are now in my "recipes" folder. My granny was a great cook and your enthusiasm and cooking know how really reminds me of her. Thanks so much for all you do! 👍
It looks like flour but its made of potato starch, hence the name. It can usually be found with corn starch in the store, which is the same thing only made out of corn.
Brooke, I LOVE these copy cat recipes!!!❤❤. I sure hope you will continue them. I’m visually impaired, but when you speak the recipe, I can record it. Thank you so much for sharing this 💕🙏🙏
I understand because I have visual problem also , and it is hard reading things I have to have a 5X magnifying glass to read anything and I carry a pocket version everywhere I go that lights the words , which makes it easier to read them !! God bless ❤️🙋🏻🙏🌈🌈
I just found you on U Tube and what a find. I love how you love to make your family happy with the meals you prepare for them. Those three boys are gonna have a wake up call when they leave home. Keep spreading the love, I'll be watching.
THANK♥️YOU FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO,THE RECIPES & THE BREAKDOWN OF THE COSTS! IT REALLY IS CRAZY HOW MUCH WE PAY TO GO OUT TO EAT. MOSTLY JUST FOR CONVENIENCE & NOT FEELING LIKE/BEING TO LAZY TO COOK. DEFINITELY NOT HOW WE ATE GROWING UP IN THE 80’S & 90’S. I REMEMBER MY MAMA COOKING SUPPER EVERY NIGHT EXCEPT MAYBE WHEN THEY WOULD ORDER DELIVERY FOR:PIZZA(1-2 TIMES A MONTH) OR WE WOULD HAVE A FEND FOR YOURSELVES NIGHT WHERE WE WOULD EAT: LEFTOVERS,A CAN OF RAVIOLI,CHILI,SOUP OR A SANDWICH. I agree with Joan Jones this channel is very addictive not to mention exactly helpful for people who live on a tight budget. Thank you Brook❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love ya!.
My favorite part of your videos is when your beautiful family tries what you've made! I love watching you cook and your enthusiasm, it just makes me smile 😁 And I also have to add that I absolutely love, love, LOVE your nails!!! God bless you, and as always, thank you so much for sharing ❤❤❤
Good deal! To be fair, restaurants charge more for their overhead costs: their lease, utilities, labor, workman’s comp and regular maintenance for everything outside of the food cost. So…that’s what we are paying for when we pay nearly $10 a plate for food.
@@SouthernFrugalMomma Yes noticed that your knives are always sharp .....I have so many knives trying to find a good one....now all it seems I just need a Dusty!!!! .....LOL ...where can I send U a recipe I would like U to try??????
@@SouthernFrugalMomma hey just wanted to say- if you turn your vegetables over when you cut them up- like your peppers or tomatoes it’s easier on your knife to cut through

I gave you all the credit....your so precious and once again THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS❤❤❤❤❤..p.s. they told me they hope I remember how I made it...I was like...I got her saved 😂😂😂😂
I really enjoy your channel, for the copycat recipes would love for you to freeze a “tv dinner” and try it later and tell us how it reheated, I live by myself and trying to brake the habit of just grabbing something so I don’t have to cook, so I cook on my day off, dinner that night, lunch the next day and at least 2 freezer meals, eventually I will get to a steady flow of cooking! Once again love all the different series you do, this is one of my favs!
Thanks for the video today. And how to make the chicken that way. Keep doing what you are doing . love to see more of your videos of how to make it work for my family on different things to get done cheaper for me. God bless you and your family.
we use the white rice also. you can also add a little rice wine vinegar and a touch of sugar (we use sweetner sometimes) and lay it on a sheet pan and toss a bit and it is really good hot or let cool and you can make sushi with it or sushi bowls. doing those dishes will make you feel better too and you wont get the take out stomache. lol
For my breading on my general tso's chicken I just coat the chicken in an egg (I usually beat it in the bowl before I put the chicken in the bowl, then stir the cup up chicken in it) and then coat in corn starch (I just pour that in the bowl and stir the chicken around until mostly coated), then let it sit for 10 minutes and fry. I also use the Aldi general tso chicken sauce, we've found we like that one best. My kids also don't eat the sauce on their chicken so I just give them the cooked chicken.
Thanks Brooke you have made such a difference to my life by teaching me to keep a keen eye out for a bargain and using only what I have at home I thank you from the bottom of my ❤
Those look so yummy! I do a copy cat orange chicken sauce that cheep, easy and so good but I need to try these! Orange chicken sause Equal parts of orange marmalade and your favorite bbq sauce Heat up and add chicken as you did with these
Ooooh, I love this. My 18 year son and his girlfriend are always trying new recipes and they were talking about doing some of "the battered chicken with sauce and sesame seeds" :) This looks extremely easy and delicious. We can't wait to try it.
If you put equal amounts of corn starch and flour (and your seasonings you like) mix it good then dip your chicken in it. Let it sit just long enough for the flour mixture to soak in a bit then dip it again and fry your chicken it will be crispy. Of course the more your turn it, or any fried foods, the more of the coating will come off. This works great for fish too.
I make pepper steak all the time. I use to make pork yat gaw mein using pork chops with noodles and a soy sauce based gravy. I have also made shrimp or beef egg foo yung. All are delicious dishes. They don't make the yat gaw mein with gravy anymore, it is more like a soup when you order it nowadays. Thanks for the recipes ❤😊.

Did you keep them in water or put them in soil ?
@@dmmrad54 I have done both, but I get better results to just plant them directly into soil in a pot. They grow stronger.

Dip your chicken in eggs, then potato starch, back in the eggs and then bread crumbs. This is how they get the chicken so crunchy

What is potato starch please
