I love this great video with great songs!!! Thank, thank, thank you !!! I saw it hundred's times, I'm Roubaix maniac from Italy!!! Great Versluys, but damn Can the 2 team-mates loose in this way ? Howhever, great Vanderaerden !!! @socalrider909 : It's possibile to have more videos of roubaix ???? thanks !!!! Thank Again !!!
I remembered this finish after watching the 2019 Amtel Gold. Is that Gilbert Duclos Lasalle @2:19 crashing or do my eyes deceive me? Anyway, Phil Liggett's voice paired with John Tesh music and it really makes for an enjoyable viewing.
@lucasitaly1980 Back then racing bikes had the gear shifters down on the frame so you had to take your hands off the handlebars unlike today's gears integrated into the break levers. So in a race like Paris Roubaix you wouldn't want to take your hands off the bars so they moved the shifters to the end of the bars and rerouted the wires. Same as time trial bikes with the upturned half handlebars, before triathalon bars came along.
Im a huge fan of this race and other Classics of this nature.... The epic struggle was awesome. I was really hoping Versluys would be victorious, but Vanderarden was way too fast....
@sam88888883 At 3:26, it's John Tesh's original Tour de France score. I have it on cassette, but it was never released on CD. The music at 1:40 is also from that same tape. It's definitely Tesh.
Four Belgian riders ina sprint to win, wonderful for Belgian fans. It was a very wet race, and the video shows crash after crash. Bob Roll was the top American finisher, and appears briefly near the end of this clip.
wow..fair play to Bob Roll for finishing and not just jumping into his team car
No helmets.
Bar-end shifters.
Steel frames.
Good times.
