- This feral pig / hog cull is video mainly recorded with thermal shooting equipment during a contracted feral control program in Australia. We do it all hunting in the darkness, removing 92 feral pigs in a single night, predominantly on freshly cut sorghum cropping fields. I'm out again on this run with mate Rodney from RJM Hunting Australia. Lets go shoot some pigs !!!
There's plenty of action packed killshot footage & video clips with the thermal gear !!!
These feral animals are a huge environmental and agricultural menace in Australia. This is purely pest control, no animals are shot for consumption. Bacterial and diseases like brucellosis are prevalent in these areas.
I'm shooting the following rifle in this video:
308 Winchester - Ruger American Predator 18". Fitted into a MDT Gen 2 LSS chassis and running Sako ammunition with 130 grain hollow point projectiles. Suppressor is made by Shawmac Industries. My thermal scope is the new Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro. For a scanner I'm running my Helion 2 XP50 Pro.
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressor I hold the necessary permit in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details.
All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.

Why am I slowing my breathing watching this :-) ?
Just freaking amazing! Thank you so much!
Wow 92 pigs in one night, tells how feral and wide spread they are. Good job.
There's a lot in some areas
It's good to see you back mate. I missed your videos. 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks 👍
Great result mate and to Peg A Feral Cat! Bonus Point's right there Great Job all round.
Cheers mate 👌
92 feral destructive pigs in one night. Very good start. The damage they do to property and native wildlife, you do great work.
Cheers Phil
Good to see the perspective from the vehicle mounted cam. Nice bonus fox at 8.28 🙂
Thanks mate 👌
I really enjoy when you both get together and make a video
Cheers and thanks for letting us join in 😁
Thanks mate. It's always a great trip with like minded people 👍
Woke up to this Nathan, great start to the day. Was thinking just last night that it had been too long. Glad to have you back. Sunny here in the UK
Sorry mate I've been too busy shooting to make video's LOL
Oh yes!!! The "thud"!!!, I enjoyed the 50 G'days. Great shooting, greetings from the Texas Hill Country.
Cheers mate 👌
What can I say other than very well done as usual. I don't understand a single thing about gun type, bore, load and all the rest, but I do understand 92 less feral nasties and 1 less feral cat in one night. That has to be good for our environment, native wildlife and domestic animals. Please keep the good work going.
Thanks Michael, the support is always appreciated and I'm glad you enjoy the content so much 👌
How many hoops did you have to jump through to get the suppressor? U using trail boss powder for the subs or just a reduced load? Good work.
Trailboss mate for the subs. And I'm still dizzy after the roundabouts to get the prohibited weapons permit 😞
G'day Nathan, Do you own any straight pull bolt rifles? Would be ideal for this rapid shooting. Also, can you not get a semi auto rifle in NSW as a contract hunter?
I could apply for Cat D and might. Can't own em all unfortunately unfortunately. It's cost prohibitive more than anything ATM as I wind up.
Would a brass catcher on your rifle be helpful for purposes of reloading the empty cases? Or is that another restricted piece of gear?
Spastically restricted 🤦♂️
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK man that’s fu)$ed. it’s a brass catcher FFS
Fantastic brother!Always look forwards to a video from you. Loved the Shades sticker. That was funny.
How could I not buy that sticker for Rod 😁
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK :-)
Brilliant stuff as always !! Ridding that property of 92 disgusting, disease riddled pork rats over one night can only be described as extraordinary work... 👍👍👍
Thanks mate 👌
Great shooting Nathan. Yourself and Rockin' Rod must have felt like you'd won the lottery with 92 pigs blown away and a supplimentery feral cat.
Well done.
Definitely plenty of ferals still to mop up on another run.
Another excellent video, thanks Nathan.
Geoff.
Thanks Geoff
Cheers Geoff
Your videos continue to impress, the image quality and editing are top notch, and so many camera angles! Great work as usual :)
Really appreciate it Dave 👍
Hey Nathan, love the vids mate and this one’s another winner. I’d be doing this myself if I was there, and now I’ve semi retired I’d be at it at every opportunity. I’m going to have to do some research because if I can get a holiday doing this I’m on it. Keep the good stuff coming pal. Looking forward to your nx trip already. Take care, cheers M
Glad you enjoyed it Mick 👍
G’day a plenty, great shooting as always, bet you LOVE those suppressors now eh, two thumbs WAY up. L 👍👍
Definitely a handy tool. And so much better for our hearing when shooting like this.
Nice to see you back 👌🏼.
You have NO idea how pleased I am that you like your suppressor.
Good Haul Guys well done....So many of the Bastards. Thanks for sharing .
Heaps of them out there in those crops.
Nice work on the pigs,92 is a good number and a bonus feral cat. Some good pest control.I guess the way the season has been up there that the numbers have exploded.Keep the dream alive.
They have gone through the roof. Definitely in need of control ATM.
I'm binge-watching your vids mate ... the drought is breaking !!!!
😂
One happy farmer, busy nights pest control.Great shooting!!
Dark till dawn mate 😴😴😴
Those Suds are awesome. good work
Great to see another fantastic video Nathan. Looking forward to more. Great shooting as always.
Cheers mate 👌
Hi. Do you use the Scope in daylight too? Greetings from Germany
Sometimes I do, and absolutely you can. But generally I swap to a glass optic.
Been waiting for your next video and it was worth the wait. Fair few pigs in a night, great shooting guys.👌
Thanks Richard 👍
well done Nath, I think you and Rod make a great team. Just curious, with your reloads, how is the kick of the '08 with such heavy slugs compared say with a factory ammo loaded 155 grn 👍😎
It's a pussy cat with the suppressor. I was running 130gr HP's for most of this. Just the 190gr subs in close.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK ok thanks bud.👍
What projectile are you using as 190gr subsonic load? Great shooting mate!
190gr Hornady Sub-X
Good stuff I love the subsonic ammo too WOW 👍
Thanks Adam 🍻
Wondering if you've ever tried calling pig's in? I've been watching a few videos of shooter's doing it and the pigs seem that focused on the recording of pig rutting that they ignore the spotlight altogether and come running in? They seems pretty successful at it too.
Plus? I thought contract shooter's in Australia are able to purchase semiautomatic for vermin control, is that right? As I've seen other contact shooter's using them.
We have tried a few times calling them. Hit and miss so far. And I could apply for Cat D but one step at a time 💪
Great content. See hunting in another beautiful outback experience. The brotherhood of hunting is alive and well.🦌👍
Thanks Gerald
Nice hunting mate, Thank you for sharing, Cheer!
No worries 🍻
Great video fella! Keep them coming 🍻
Thanks Mark 💪
Have been hanging out for a new vid. Great work as always!
Glad you liked it 👌
Great vid mate and top shooting those are some chunky pigs cheers Yogi 🇦🇺🤙🤙
Some stonkers out there on the crops 👍
Nice one Nath
The old 70's bomb ups have been updated a bit with thermals.
Yeah we talked a lot about how we used to do stuff like this with lights. The thermal is definitely a amazing tool for this type of situation.
Great work fellas good to see you both out amongst it again. Mr. Farmer had to be happy with 92 👍
Client was very happy with that result 👍
Gday nice shooting, cracking sticker for Rodney 😎🤣😎🤣
Thanks John
Nice work again Nathan, looks like you scored a bonus fox as well as the cat.
Thanks Paul. We smacked a few foxes that got too close 😎
Hey mate great night shooting. How do you like that MTD setup? Just thinking of changing my tikka 308 t3x lite stainless over to the same setup.
It's very comfortable to shoot. Heaps of adjustment. Probably one of the lightest aluminium chassis setups, but saying that. With the big digital scope it's not a light weight rig. I do get sick of carrying it if I'm on foot for hours at a time.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK thanks mate .. I just find the standard synthetic stock a little uncomfortable . Sounds like a good upgrade.. Where do you get your MDT gear if you don't mind me asking
I think this chassis came from Cleavers but there are a few agents in Australia.
What happens to the carcasses? Does the landowner remove them from his cultivated land?
Left where they lay. Nothing last long at all before it breaks down and / or it is eaten. Just beetles will turn a carcass into a husk in a week.
Jesus the animals have gone nuts with this rain. Unreal shooting too. On the contract hunts is it a hourly or per animal rate?
Certainly lots of critters mate. Rates and charges vary per job.
What an absolute treat of an evening..
Good to see you back again mate and well done on a good session 🤙🏻
Thanks mate
Nice work what powder are you using in your subsonic .308
Trailboss 💪
You guys are bloody awesome! Great work at keeping the ferals at bay 👊👍
Thanks Greg
Nice work, what powder are you using in your subsonic.308
Trailboss mate 👌
Nice shooting boy's those thumps were awesome 92 impressive and a feral moggy love your work 👍🦘🇦🇺
Cheers mate 👌
Ya finally got the suppressor congrats man. Still waiting for mine here in America.
Great video man glad to see ya back at it.
Thanks mate
How are you enjoying the benefit of shooting with a silencer?
It's fantastic 👌
Good work Hollyrod Enterprises
I like that, have to make sure I tell Rod 👍
Keep up the good work boys ! I like those 190g sub-sonics.
Handy ain't they 😎
Excellent shooting Nathan and Rod. Another good video of feral pests being removed. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Oliver 💪
Top notch, guys! Just a thought, seems those rifles are slow to clock and reload: ever thought of using a Lee Enfield. 303 with a scope? Thinking of the Mad Minute videos I've seen, and they cycle pretty fast though with you using sub Sonics, don't knkw where you'd get them for a .303. G'day!
They are all just bolt actions mate. The Lee Enfield is actually a larger angle and longer throw than my Ruger. Just depends how aggressive you are on the handle.
Hi Fellas
Great shooting doing well - suggestion
Audio is a bit loud when
Slide is being Reloading.
Sounds like where in an empty water barrell
A semiauto would've been handy out there. Good thing you guys get to use supressors.
Those sub-sonic 190grs with a suppressor are amazingly quiet. The pigs didn't even run until one had a squealing-twitching fit. Max effective range cant be much, but if they dont scatter, it doesnt matter too much. I see from the Hornady website the 300 Blackouts have a metal jacket. Do they expand at all?
These are a special subsonic hornady projectile - Sub-X. Absolutely they expand. Only really a sub 100m round. Even at 100m it's a 8" drop from the 50m zero.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACKInteresting. They must be quite a soft material or have a very effective hollow point behind that polymer tip to expand at such low velocities (1600-2000 fps for normal hunting rounds).
Wow that's quite a drop from 50 to 100m. I think the Yanks and their high pressure air rifles might get similar ballistics to that. They're quiet too, but would have to leave the scuba tank in the truck for re-charges
Now you're hunting for contracts etc, what kind of insurance do you have/need to operate on private properties?
Sorry mate. TH-cam world is not the place to start that in an open conversation.
Absolutely fantastic. And once again such professional shooting. Keep it up, well done.
Russ
Cheers mate 👌
Great to see you again out pig bashing, your mate Rod been banging a few vids out and mentioning you a few times.
Was a fantastic trip mate 👌
once again, great bolt work!!
Thanks Chris
And the ads are coming thick and fast - you're making a great go of this ; keep doin' what you're doin' !!!!!
Unfortunately TH-cam make 2/3 of any add revenue 😩
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK B**TARDS !@!
Awesome job fellas! Haha Nathan its always annoying shooting fence wires through. Done it a few times now. Ferals always seem to align themselves with the wires 🤣🤣🤣. Love how they don't spook as much with the suppressor. How many grains of trail boss you run in the 308?
Glad you liked it mate. Sorry I don't share reloading data. You need to work up what's safe in your rifle.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK all good was just curious 👍
It's crawling with the buggers!! Nice shooting. The wire shot was super unlucky!
Yeah that was a bit shit 🤦♂️
Wow..... 😳 ....92 feral pigs in one night??? That must have been crazy fun! 🎈🥳🎈
Just think.... if everyone in Australia could kill at least 50 in one night, every night.... you could get rid of them pests in about 39 years. 😒 190 grains? They did a great job quickly.
Excellent video brother! The cat was my favorite! 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Nice going Nate 👍,some good shooting
Thanks mate 👌
Love that you are using suppressors now….EXCELLENT SHOOTING !!!! L 👍👍
Cheers mate 👌
What tripods are you using? Are you allowed suppressors in NSW? GREAT VIDEO GUYS.
I'm running an Innorel RT80C tripod. I have the required permit for the suppressor in NSW 💪
Thanks mate, I’ll have a look at the tripods as been wanting to get one. Here in Qld suppressors are still not allowed as you probably know and would greatly help. Keep up the great work and videos.
Nice too see you've got a moderator 😁308 subs working well amongst the carnage..Great shooting and footage 👍
Cheers Lee 👍
50 shades of g'day.. LOL Never fail to amuse me. 92 pigs, and a CAT. Now that's not a bad nights work mate. 🤣
Was definitely worthy 😊
Yet another great Video , just keep them coming 👍
That's the plan when I have time Gary 👌
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK good stuff
Silly Question , Have you shot and killed a feral pig ,then broken the carcass down for meat and how did it taste ?
They taste fine, especially like these ones living on grain. But you need to know what your looking at as they can carry disease and parasites.
Bloody awesome gents, cracking pigs to, I loved it
Cheers Craig 🍻
Another awesome vid man.. keep it up I love it👍👍
Thanks! Will do!
Great video guys loved it. Nice kits you have.
Glad you enjoyed it
nice shot on the fence wire haha
Bloody thing 😣
was wondering if you can consume feral pigs or do they carry diseases
They carry too many diseases for me to generally bother.
Video came up great Nath. Will pull my finger out and get some footage up soon. 👌👊
Such a great trip mate 💪 I've a feeling we might get a bit more footage soon enough.
Another great video mate keep them coming👍
Cheers 🍻
A beautiful sight! Just a red mist on the prairie!
Yes it was!
I couldn't help but think of all the crops that are destroyed by these pigs, so what you guys are doing is helping these farmers out and saving crops at the same time.
Question, Nathan, are you guys also responsible for hauling those carcasses out of the fields too?
No Reg, they are left where they lay with the biosecurity risks ATM.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Understandable!
very interesting these subsonic amo!
Wish we had a few in this country, good shooting mate.
It astounds me why suppressors require a permit. Surely having one would be a good WHS measure for hearing?
Won't disagree but the FAR do 😩
Awesome Nathan I've seen properties with a lot of pigs back in the day but that was next level well done on the cull and that bloody cat and did I see a fox in there .Nothing beats a quiet speaking gun but that is a whole different story that shall remain in the mists of time.
Bit of everything on this one. But pigs were the target. Quite a few foxes in those big fields but they get left when we don't want to scare everything off. But that single one was a bit dumb standing where it did.....
Very nice video, great job on culling those ferals
Thanks mate 👌
Hi Nathan
What happens to the carcasses?
Good shooting by the way!!
feral pigs are just carrion on most shoots. In Australia they often carry disease and parasites (worms, tuberculosis, brucellosis etc). Unless you are very careful at checking these animals, it's not worth eating them.
Wow...that looks like amazing fun... good work
It was a night to remember. But we were bloody tired 😴
Well done, Nathan. Much of my area is still too wet to access but I have got a few. Looks like you have been out west of me.
It's been bloody wet all over hasn't it.
When there is a group, how do you decide which one to take first?
Normally the biggest, or if you can pick the lead sow we will hit her first. Confuses the group and let's us get higher numbers. Harsh but it's pest control so we maximise when possible.
G'day great video and nice hunt mate.
Cheers mate 👌
Great job fellers
🇦🇺🐷🐈🦊🇦🇺
Well I’m totally confused. 190g centre fire SUBSONIC! How can that be? A .22 sure but a 308. Some kind of black magic. Great shooting boys!
I'll take black magic as the subs work well under 100m. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Great footage. Cheers
Thats is so much fun! Those night sambo beats kfc rolls lol.
Just curious what you guys do with the carcasses?
Thanks mate, carcasses are left where they lay. Too many Biosecurity risks in this location.
geez there's no shortage of pigs on that property. cleaned a few up. great shooting 🔫 👏 👌 👍
Plenty out there ATM.
Well done again you two.
Cheers Daryl
