    I use the mitten hooks too for the doors... they’re worth their weight in gold.
    I cut the hook part out and sanded down the edge. Works great and a lot easier to hook and unhook!

      I was debating on doing that. Any problems?

      Outdoor Adventures none so far. As long as the shock cord doesn’t have slack they stay locked into one another. Same thing when hooking them into the hole on the d rings. It’s like they were made to fit right in there!! Lol. Sanding the rough edge is a good idea to protect the tarp.

      Did the same thing with my mitten hooks, cut the part off that “secures” it, and sanded it down.. never an issue and makes it so much easier with attaching/detaching.

    THANK YOU JASON! I just basically re-recreated this setup, thanks for all the effort and time you took to spell it out. It really helped. PS, got the 12' tarp ;)

    I've been using the side pull out mod and love the amount of room I have under my tarp.

    Thx again for taking time to do this video...I just need the nerve to put my sharp poles over the $$$ cuben tarp...😬

    Another Great teaching video. Instead of mitten hooks which I found harder for me to clip together, I found some mini-parachute clips at Hobby Lobby and they work better for me, an old man with with less dexterity than you younger whipper snappers!

    Awesome video. I am going to see if I can do the same to my tarp.

    Ever consider adding prussiks to the stake guylines for securing the tarp door? I feel like that would take some of the slack out of the doors.. give it a better angle getting it down a little lower.. I haven’t tried it myself, but have been considering it.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could yea but I think I would just shorten the shock corn an inch or so. Usually my doors overlap I pulled them out a little too far in the video.

    Definitely need more than 8.5" of line to make a 4.5" loop... RIP the 8.5" of line I just cut, which made a 2" loop. I made a guess that 12" would be good and it was.

    Awesome video Jason most informative for us less experienced or someone whos looking for new ideas. I just got a new Darien 10 ft and I am thinking about pulling tje trigger on a cuben fiber tarp. Not sure if I should go with the 11' or the 12' do you find that you have plenty of coverage with the 11' what are your thoughts?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I like a tarp 1 foot bigger than my hammock. You can use the same size hammock and tarp but I wouldn't want to get stuck in a bad storm.

    Where was this video an hour ago when I was making tie outs for my tarp!?

    I have a hex fly from Hennessy and I’m going to upgrade the stock guy lines to 550 paracord. My question is, do I remove the D rings and tie a bow line in the guy line in its place or just keep the D rings in place? I’ve seen both done on several videos. Love your instructional videos. Keep up your outstanding work!

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd keep the drings and tie the bowline onto that.

    Jason, have you found any real disadvantages to the cuben tarp vs the Sil other than cost? Would you ever go back to sil or are you 100% sold on cuben?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's been great for me. You can't be rough with it by any means but I don't think I'd go back to a silnylon. The simply fact that it doesn't soak up rain water makes it worth the price for me. I have heard good things about silpoly. Maybe I'll do a video about it at some point.

    • @geech08
      @geech08 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outdoor Adventures cool, thanks for the reply. Have a superfly silpoly and like it other than the increased weight over cuben.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess the only disadvantage I found is that it is not as pack-able as sil products. It does take up more volume.

    Nice video! The fisherman's knot is generally recommended for the prusik loop however it's not a big deal. It just looks nicer. I just found your channel!

    Frozen do you think shock cord is necessary for guylines?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I trip over my tarp lines enough to day yes to that question. The shock cord will break before the zing it lines or tarp do.

    • @TheKingdomChef

      @@FrozensAdventures what about for ridge line?

  • @rmoran113
    @rmoran113 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tried leaving the hookworms and guy lines attached when it goes in the mesh snakeskin? They turn into a birds nest w the zing it unless I wrap them individually around stakes...

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that's why I have hook worms and not tarp worms.

    • @rmoran113
      @rmoran113 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outdoor Adventures assume you remove them...I recall you saying you wrap all 4 lines around the 4 ground hogs together...when I tried that ended up a big rays nest..any advice

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wrap each line around it's respective stake.

  • @sdlopez83

    Ordered 1/16th but to weak and stretches too much. What width is that shock cord for the tarp doors?

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it's 1/8 but not 100 sure on that. Definitely larger than 1/16th. Though. So 1/8 should work.
