Nice, simple & versatile. I'll be adding this to my Superrfly tarp. Suspect that elasticity will also be affected by sublight too, so renewing the shock cord will be an ongoing bit of housekeeping but it's all good. Thanks 🙂👌
Finally. A detailed video on how to do that mod. I rigged up my own, but don’t like it very much. I will do this exact mod on my tarp. Great vid! Thanks for sharing!
You posted this as I was doing this to my new tarp, good timing. However I used Dutch’s Tarp Door Hooks with the shock cord and bowline knots. Thanks for the videos!
Great vid- exact same setup I use on my HG WP Tarp, but with reflective shock cord from Dutch.. Keep going back and forth however between flyz and the continuous ridgeline. I appreciate the flyz for the simplicity, but I also like the CR for when I want to use spreader bars- keeps them up off the tarp..
stowe18 I’m a fan of the CRL. I like being able to set the ridgeline first without having to mess with the tarp. And I like being able to move it quickly if the need arises. Maybe I’ll check out that reflective shock cord! Nice addition !
My main issue with the continuous ridgeline is that a lot of the time the prussiks don’t move as freely as I’d like them to when they are tight. Have often wondered if there’s a better solution than using yellow zing-it as the main line- but at the same time, I don’t want it to be so slick that the tarp shifts in the middle of the night because of high winds. I’ve thought about maybe doing gray lash-it with zing-it shackles instead. Guess I’ll try that next.
stowe18 I lift up on the tarp slightly and take any pressure off the prusik and it seems to move freely for me. You can also “push” the shackle part up towards the wraps to get the wraps loose on the line right before you move them. Anything to alleviate the “grip”. Just placed an order for some Glow in the Dark/Reflective 3/32” shock cord. A little more in weight compared to regular shock cord, but I like the idea of quickly locating my setup in the dark. I’ll experiment and see how it works out! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tips on that- I’ll definitely try your suggestion with pushing the shackles towards the wraps.. Hope you like your reflective shock cord! I put that on all my tarp tie outs with fleaz..

Nice! Definitely doing this on my next winter tarp. Thanks for the detailed vid.
OutLan thanks for the comment!
Sitting here with 100 mitten hooks from Amazon and only have a bout six feet of shock cord left. Story of my life lmao.
Is this good shock cord to use on guyline tie outs also?
You can use this cord. Be aware that your stake may get launched like a missile if it doesn’t hold!
@@TripleNickelOutdoors I never thought about that lol
