  • I spend some time completing scheduled maintenance on the John Deere 4052R. Come along as I service the engine oil, fuel filters, air filters, and transmission fluid. I share a few tips and tricks and I am sure you will have a few laughs along the way. This isn't difficult work and I encourage you to do this yourself and not take your tractor to the dealer. Leave any questions in the comments section.

    Nice video, appreciate the real-world demonstration. A magnet on a telescoping tube should be in every tool box just for fishing things out of oil buckets! To fill the transmission, I set the bucket on the fender and use a 5' syphon hose to the fill hole. Just start the syphon and come back 15 minutes later and repeat for the next bucket.

    Great video. I have a 4052M coming up on 400 hours and have been dreading the transmission change. Seemed simple enough. You earned a new subscriber.

    Sorry, I had to replay the "socket drop" 3 times I was laughing so hard. And you're so low key about it. Classic stuff, right there!

    About ready to pull the trigger on a 4052r. This was helpful... Quick return advice... look at the Dewalt (or other brand) battery operated power washer. (DCPW550P1). My hunting cabin, like yours, has no running water and i couldn't get myself to dropping a well. This is a very cheap and effective option. Intake from a 5 gallon bucket of water. I bring 20 gallons with from home... Works well for cleaning my tractor, quad and ranger and my shop floor, etc. For about $200. Great video thank you!

    thanks for sharing! real work horse you have there 👍. One suggestion, cover those hydraulic quick disconnect fittings, all that dirt youre brushing on to the filter is going to contaminate the hydraulic system.

      Good call Mike! I'll admit that I'm not always as clean as I probably should be sometimes.

    Hi thanks for the informative videos. I am going to buy a tractor soon and have narrowed it down to the 4052r and the kubota l4760. Have you crossed shop the JD and Kubota line? If so what made you buy JD over a Kubota. I was also last the l3560 with cab because it was cheaper but as much as I will be on the tractor I think I would let the cab go and opt for the more capable tractors 4052r or l4760. Has tour JD been reliable?

    Do you use hydrostatic fluid or engine oil on the hydrostatic filter top? Thanks.

    Do you change the o ring on the sediment bowl each time? I just changed mine for the first time and didn’t replace it and it is leaking. Going to go get one next week when the dealer opens. Just curious if it is something that you change every time or what?

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't change it, but you do have to make sure it's there. I dropped it one time and forgot to put it on and mine leaked too until I put it back.

    what size socket for the transmission drain plug?

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don't know off the top of my head. I probably couldn't tell you if I had just finished putting the plug back in. ha I'm terrible at remembering socket sizes. I can tell you that it falls within a standard set of sizes. Not overly large or obscure.

    I have a 4044r JD the exhaust level is at 96% shoot is around 46%. Do I need to clean the exhaust or will the regen fix this exhaust

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you elaborate as to what you mean when you say that the "exhaust level is at 96%?" I have never seen this metric on my dash. Only the soot level.

    • @jzenone
      @jzenone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IndyFarmLife as I cycle through the menus I see that my tractor tells me shoot level 57% and an exhaust level as well sitting at 97% I have less than 50 hours on it. I just called John Deere and I am waiting for them to call back I will let you know what they said

    Tell wife to get you a power washer for your birthday , ggg
    That dirty air filter is why the oil was so dirty. Be nice if you had a K&N air filter cause you could clean and reoil it.
