    the degree of clarity, the ease and expedience in which you present the information is very much appreciated.
    No words wasted, no long redundant explanations.
    your videos are excellent.
    thank you.

    A torque arrestor is not really needed with a soft start Grundfos pump.

    This was so faciinating to watch! So impressed with you both!! You mentioned you would have to tak eoff the hose to let air in after using the the hose/faucet... maybe put a hose plitter splitter on before the hose, so you can open one side of the splitter without needing to take off the faucet or the hose...

      Thank you, and glad you enjoyed the video!
      Funnily enough, what you describe with the splitter is exactly what we did when we got back to the property this year - a splitter with a backflow preventer on one side that we connect to the hose, and the other side stays empty just for venting the line. We still use a quick connect on the hose as we can't leave the hose connected outside if the temperatures drop below freezing.

    I get your curiosity about temps. But even I think that's over-kill.
    Good pump from my own experience. The soft start is a wonderful fetcher.

    I was watching you pushing the PVC pipe and thinking mmmmm did I forget to put the jubilee clips on 😮😮😮😮, you explained that very well and anyone needing information from it will have no problem understanding, looking forward to seeing future projects

      Haha, the barb fittings are no joke - it took some serious effort to get some of those connected, even after heating the pipe! They aren't coming off any time soon!
      Glad you enjoyed the video. We tried to really take our time to explain what we were doing and why, so it's great to hear that you found it easy to follow. Thanks for watching!

      The video description actually does contain a list of all the materials and tools we used. Those that we got on Amazon has Amazon link. You should still comparison shop for all items. We found as much as 60% price difference for the exact same thing from one store to the other.

    Hope the electrical tape doesn't unravel and interfere with the pump inlet. Nice job and much closer to running water.

      @AdventurousWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our well driller assured us that electrical tape is how it's done, and warned us that we'd need a LOT of electrical tape. He wasn't wrong - we used several rolls on this project! Glad you enjoyed the video, and yes, one step closer to running water!

    Nice work. This is one project that would scare me. Not sure you needed a torque arrester with a soft start pump. Seen a few videos where they can cause you problems down the road when trying to pull the pump. But I am only TH-cam trained so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
    Nice work and keep up the great videos.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! It was a big project for sure, and there was so much research that went into things ahead of time.
      It makes sense what you say about the torque arrestor. Ours wasn't *too* tight against the well so I hope it won't be an issue. The pump isn't that deep either, so between the pipe, wire and safety rope, I'd hope we'll be able to pull hard enough to get it out. It certainly didn't seem to offer significant resistance on the way down.

    Where did you get your drain back valve? Also, what size t-is it in? Are the barb fittings in the tea for the drain back valve 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch(pipe thread) ? Thanks

  • @RossReedstrom
    @RossReedstrom ปีที่แล้ว

    That rubberized tape is going to increase your time-constant for those temp sensors quite a bit, but for your use case, I think it'll be fine: any sort of fast temp swing down a well is probably an error, anyway. :)

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, so true! It's actually going to be quite a good test for how stable those sensors are!

  • @malibudan

    I would not reduce your opening from 1.25 to 1 inch, about a 50% difference i flow rate and resistance, only if low flow well otherwise it's restrictive.

    Will the auto-drain valve always empty the line? Wouldn't your lines get full of air after each use? Or is the auto-drain only draining when you shut of the pump?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The drain valve will open whenever the pressure drops. In the situation where the line is feeding an unpressurized tank, it’ll open whenever the pump shuts off and yes, the line will fill with air (above the valve). But that’s not an issue because the line is feeding an unpressurized tank. If it’s feeding a pressurized tank, the pressure will never drop so the valve will never open.

    • @Jm91swe
      @Jm91swe 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AdventurousWayI see, thank you for the answer. I am about to install a drilled well pump in an area where the frost-line is over 7 feet and I am looking around for alternatives. Traditionally in the area we have used a manual valve at the pump head to release the water when you have to leave (coupled with a heating strip in the pipe).

    • @dustinhamman8456
      @dustinhamman8456 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unless there is a vacuum breaker or auto vent somewhere, it is unlikely to drain with the auto drain valve.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The line is filling an unpressurized tank so there is no back pressure to stop it draining.

  • @thomassullivan2674
    @thomassullivan2674 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have seen already where they put a pin hole in the poly pipe. So when the pump is off the water drains and never had an issue with it

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, that’s essentially what our drain valve does. The only difference is it doesn’t leak when the pump is running.

    How will you keep dust and bugs out where the wires/rope enter?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The connection on top of the well seal for the electrical wiring will be joined to a piece of conduit going into a weather-tight enclosure.

  • @Nctbgs

    My well installer all but refused to install those torque arresters . He says they have cost his customers thousands . I guess they can cause big problems when it’s time to pull the pump .

    • @AdventurousWay

      Huh, intriguing! Between the pipe, the oversized wire and pull string, fingers crossed we won’t have any issues!

    Whats the point in temp sensors? Rather unneeded information. Setting down in the water its going to be rather cool

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a solid hypothesis. I guess we’ll be able to find out. And, like we talked about in the video, it will be interesting to see if there’s any change in temperature with the seasons or when the pump runs.

    • @AdventurousWay

      I would imagine so! Nobody is telling you to install temperature sensors on your well, I’m just telling you why we chose to. You may not care about it like we do, and that’s fine.

      Hi ! It's so if the pump keeps running for some reason or another while not needing any water to be pumped to the house etc . The sensor will detect that the pump is getting too hot and shut the pump off so the pump doesn't overheat and burn up 😢 . One sensor is on the pump and One sensor is on the pipe so it will sense any residual water in the pipe getting hot because the pump is not pumping any water but the pump motor is stuck on heating up the the water on top of the pump . It also can sense if the water inside the pipe or pump gets frozen and your not getting any water to the house 🙏🇺🇲🇬🇧✌️

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly, or even a more minor issue like a partially clogged pipe or voltage sag causing the motor to run hotter than usual. Since the environmental factors down the well should be so consistent, really any deviation from the norm is worth being made aware of as it likely indicates a current or future problem.
