I think I have listened to every possible version of this song and I am in love it. It captivates me to watch his videos. I can't imagine what it would be like to see him live.
He's doing shows almost daily on Instagram now, guys. I've loved Ryan Adams for a long-ass time. A sincere, kind and wonderful person, and a wonderful musician in every way.
Lightning... Rain ... Needles ... DIRTY RAIN ... let the needle move the record round... it is hard to be clean after all that dirty rain. Hang in there bro' it never ends. Great song
I love that "Dirty Rain" is the first song on "Life After Deaf" The Complete Collection, Gives me chills every time I let the needle pull the record ‘round. Thanks for sharing!! ;)
the only thing i can see from the other two is watching and admiring, neil finn is a great nz artist, and to see him sit back with his guitar and admire this artist is a contribute to ryan adams..
@JJJAygo From the program website "Singer-songwriters get together in intimate venues to perform their own classics, chat about their work and collaborate musically". Note the collaborate musically part? That doesn't mean sit their sulking when others are playing. Much of what happened never made it into the aired show.
lovers of ryan adams check out it takes one when it youst to take two on the first true blood compilation and lucinda williams lake charles in a yellow el camino listening to howlin wolf
did he mention wht the coloration on his guitbox was for? that red over white over black is symbolic of Egypt's f;ag, I know that much. I cant really connect it to anything else
@svw72ga You're right, i didn't watch that, and i don't know much about guitars. Maybe it's coincidence or maybe he picked those 3 colours on purpose...only Ryan knows for sure! Thanks for the info!
@DylanVotaire the three colours are red, yellow, and green, check other videos where he's playing that guitar for a better look at the colours. it is the flag for the union of african states; ghana, guinea, and mali. the union was politically socialist and pan-africanist and lasted approx 4 years back in the late 50's / early 60's. and those three stars on the head are centered in the yellow band of that flag.
Yes. They all take it in turns to sing. I have only posted Ryan Adams apart from the final number "Weather With You" which they sing ensemble. I expect if you do a search for either of the others they would show up.
hissy fits ? tantrums ? collaborating ? i have watched a few of the BBC shows and most performers sit and listen when the other artists played.....Neil Finn for some reason decided he would play his guitar to every tune that Ryan and Janis played.....Yeah Ryan may have reacted in the wrong way, he prob should have told him to shut the fck up !.....overall i thought all 3 artists performed brilliantly and easily the best of this years shows.
Elton John used to be my Fav. artist for 30 years, its been Ryan since like 2002, but a lot of these guys play along here and there and then have one collaborative effort, and I think Ryan just didn't want to put the time in on learning one of theirs so he was like indifferent to their playing his, but those two on stage with Ryan are Legends, but we all know Ryan is a quicky guy anyway. They probably didn't know that, hes talented, but but sometimes hes a freaking nut job. Sadly, I think hes into Satanism, he seeks Satanic shirts on his site, kinda weird.
@gregandren He's not gobsmacked. Ryan had stopped just short of throwing a tanty (that's tantrum) for Neil and Janis joining in on his songs (which is what the Songwriters' Circle is all about). Ryan acted like the petulant child he is throughout this show. Check out some of the other vids and you can catch a glimpse of what was going on. Ryan's obvious skill as a musician and singer aside, he needs to learn some humility.
@JJJAygo Oh, and if that really is the stupidest thing you've ever heard then you really don't get out much. Try reading online. There are plenty of stories out there. Take for example all the one about this particular show, and you might learn something about your pal Ryan. It's pretty well documented that he had a major hissy fit, and it's not the first time he's acted like this in public.
@Groovestonenz That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard! He was obviously so relaxed and humbled to have Neil and Janis joining, so much so that at the beginning of the show he could joke about how he was going to steal their material!
10 years ago and still sounds like it’s brand new. Absolutely superb

You're clearly not an attractive aspiring young female musician
Top performance. This was the quality of a studio master all live in one take.
This guy is good! His delivery and songwriting is old school folk. Very nice!
Is unbelievable how this guy can write such great songs. An amazing composer.
One of the select, true artists that sound far better live than studio recorded!... True perfection equals soul!
They didn't put this song on the show! Thank you so much for posting this... incredible performance, Ryan is on top form!
I will NEVER understand women but Ryan makes it easier for me. God Bless You Ryan!!!
Jesus this man and his voice.

Lightning... Rain ... Needles ... DIRTY RAIN ... let the needle move the record round... it is hard to be clean after all that dirty rain. Hang in there bro' it never ends. Great song
Ryan Adams, you are so good. You just don't know it yet!
Tina Brown - He knows
This song makes my spirit soar
That humble look on DR's face at the end is priceless.
I love that "Dirty Rain" is the first song on "Life After Deaf" The Complete Collection, Gives me chills every time I let the needle pull the record ‘round. Thanks for sharing!! ;)
Hadn't heard this song until I saw him live tonight and as soon as I got home I had to hear it again. Captivating.
the only thing i can see from the other two is watching and admiring, neil finn is a great nz artist, and to see him sit back with his guitar and admire this artist is a contribute to ryan adams..
Sing, sing, sing and keep singing for the right signs.
Why is this guy not a legend?
Travis Sagebiel He is. : )
85jongo amen and high five to you good sir.
The beginning of the this reminds me (a lot) "You don't want to know", a nice Loudon Wainwright III's song.

Ryan you are a true artist. I love everything I hear from you.

Watch Neil Finn's reaction change through the video.
wicked toon
@svw72ga You're right, i didn't watch that, and i don't know much about guitars. Maybe it's coincidence or maybe he picked those 3 colours on purpose...only Ryan knows for sure! Thanks for the info!
like it how how the other (older)boys just look on...
@Groovestonenz Who cares? The dude plays and sings awesome songs. I don't want my rock stars to be upstanding citizens. I want them to be rock stars!

Do neil finn or janis ian do any tunes on this show? any links?
Yes. They all take it in turns to sing. I have only posted Ryan Adams apart from the final number "Weather With You" which they sing ensemble. I expect if you do a search for either of the others they would show up.

@hubulaba some people are never happy. thats like saying i've won a million pound but wish it was 2 million......
You mean harvey my storm
Looks like he styled himself on Neil Young
Come home
