This chick seemed so cool. It’s incredibly rare to find someone so in the present and vibrant like this nowadays. I’m 23. I often wish I was in my 20’s back then. Times seemed so much more simple, people seemed happier and more connected to each other. What a character this girl is
I was completely isolated back then, with no access to any real support or guidance, at least now the internet allows you to find like minded people and the information you need to change things and better yourself.
Britney was Gen X. She was born just before 1978. Also, the first few years of the 2000s was still very much 90s culture, as it is with the first few years of any decade in relation to the previous preceding one. That's why videos like these are so fascinating. They look so modern, but look again, no smart phones, no phone in her back pocket, and tons of VHS tapes.
Yes, we only had one computer and only I carried a cell phone. Then in around 2006 I bought a computer for my son as a prize for winning the spelling bee. In 2007 I bought him a cheap cell phone to call me just for emergencies. I’m so glad they got the tail end of the no electronics era.
Yes I miss the 90s back when CDs 💿 were really popular and vhs 📼 and block busters still exist I hate this new generation of streaming movies and music people got lazyyyy Let’s keep physical media alive guys
something about the way she says goodbye, paired with the music makes me start crying. wow, this is when i ache for someone like her to come back, even though i know it cannot be. rest in peace.
She made me smile so many times just by being her. She was depressed and yet brought so much joy to everyone around her. She seems to cheerful that you would never know and that's a lot of people with depression. Cherish people like this and give them just as much joy as they give you! I wish the world and her gave her more love.
Very common for people who are severely depressed to be the one to make others smile and laugh, they can lighten anyones mood and never let on the sadness that goes on within them
You miss going to Blockbuster and finding that the movie you wanted was either out or they didn't carry it? Or if they did have it you had to go get back in your car and return it the next day or you get stuck with late fees. And really it's just a damn shop to go and watch Hollywood garbage. Getting nostalgic over wasting money is kind of sad. Another example of American consumerism

I had a chance to visit The last Blockbuster on earth. It is still around as well. Actually saw it on accident in Bend, Oregon not realizing it was the last one till I walked inside. They had shirts and other memorabilia. It's still around last I heard and yes you can still rent and everything.
I'm tearing up. She's so real. Man it was a better time. But I'm so blessed to have grown up in 90s and early 2000s. Imagine having TikTok as your core memories. Omg 🙄
She is/was great. This is a MTV segment could be a couple of TikTok videos! I miss Blockbusters too, but driving and renting a movie for $5 and trying to return it on time is objectively so much worse than paying $14 a month for endless Movies and TV shows on demand, so what I really miss is the memories of being young, and going there with my mom or arguing over what to rent with my first gf. Whenever you were young and the world was new, the nostalgia makes that world and time seem like the best possible one. People who grew up in the 60's and 70's probably saw this when it came out and thought watching a star go to a Blockbuster on MTV was horrible and trite compared to the things they remember doing when they were young.
Yes the 90s and 2000s we're so much brighter. Is it just me or does it seem like then it was all sunshine and happiness and being bubbly and having fun. No days it's so dark. The music even the rap is all emotional and dark. The movies that come out are all horror movies or psychological thrillers. They really don't make happy upbeat raunchy comedies any more. It's either some reality bullshit or drama or horror. We get an ok rom com maybe twice a year now. People only want to be home alone or they want to argue with everyone because they can hide behind a screen. It's like the 90s and 2000s was a bright sunny warm day but after about 2015 it's like a dark cloud came over the world and just gets darker and darker each year. Really fucks me up because that's one thing there is no solution to. Time travel technology hasn't been released to us so we have to live in this darkness.
Her personality is angelic in this video. She was so focused on feeling happy because she felt so sad. The world is a more dull and less funny place without her. I hope she is resting in peace.
You’re comment implies that you think Britanny murphy commited suicide. Lots of people seem to think she killed herself for some reason. She died from anemia and pneumonia and too much prescription medication
You described many people in this world. So focused on feeling happy because they feel so sad. I have met countless happy people who I found out over time were actually sad the whole time. Many years people thought I was happy because I constantly joke and laugh but on the inside I would hurt quite strongly.
@Totally Rufus A friend of mine in college was the same, too. He was very funny and a nice person to be around, but we didn't realize he had been grieving for his deceased nephew, and it took a toll on him.
She seemed like such a genuinely sweet and good person. She carried her family, such a hard worker, so authentic. I was at a very nice Italian restaurant in LA and she came in to pick up food once and she came off as so shy and humble. I didn't approach her, respected that she was just there doing normal people things (with her bodyguard or driver) and living her life. The.story behind her death is so sad.

Whenever you were young and the world was new, the nostalgia makes that world and time seem like the best possible one.

@@jmwilsoND cause of death was pneumonia, with secondary factors of severe iron-deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication - A mix of over the counter and prescription. No I don't believe she was a street drug addict of even did them, But I do believe that animal partner of hers was pushing her onto his prescription drugs! Probably through making her ill and then making her think she needs them to get better... We will never know the full truth what went on behind closed doors, But everything point towards my opinion.
@@fleshsuitmanit wasn’t her fault tho, she got trapped into it and addicted and never got the chance to get clean. Her mother was an absolute bitch too.
God she really was a stunning woman. my 90s/00s crush right there.
I can’t believe how much we needed this. New Brittany material!? What a gift. Thanks MTV ;)
Gone but not forgotten, forever an icon a legend. Rest in power Brittany Murphy
I just know she would’ve been on Broadway right now if she were alive. Beautiful voice and energetic personality.
I could see her playing Roxie Hart or Sally Bowles!!
@@dorothyallspice1862 I think I remember reading that she auditioned for Chicago. I can't find anything about it again with a quick Google, but I feel sure I've read that before.
If she was alive today I think she would be a better Harley Quinn than Margot Robbie
Watching this breaks my heart. She truly shined and her glow still resonates. 🙏
Exactly my dear

One of the greatest actresses of my generation! She was so full of life, laughter and love and is missed everyday.
And drugs. She was full of drugs.
She was a good actress, but I wouldn't call her one of the greatest actress of our generation!
