    Thank you Zach! Someone mentioned this tool on the Benchmade subreddit and a search pulled up your channel which I already subscribe to. Ordered from his Etsy page and had the tool in less than a week!

    Love this tool. Helps out even for this novice. Helps assemble so much better than a small screwdriver, what I used the first time I swapped scales on my mini 533. Great product......

    Just ordered mine......So frustrating putting together my bugouts. I have a bug out apart right now I was switching out the scales. Its in parts right now in a bowl. I had to stop and put it aside for a while I got so pissed. Hopefully this will make it much easier.

      Dude it's so easy lol.
      Just put the handles together without the blade. Put a drop of oil on the blade (to stick washer to) Drop one washer on. Slide the blade in between, the slide second washer in. Now use small screwdriver bit to align it all in the pivot (mine fit right through the pivto hole (ifixit kit) Then use the pivot pin to push the bit out the other side.
      Done it 100 times. Takes literally 10 seconds.

    I've had one of these for months and they make taking apart my benchmades a breeze. I recommend investing in the steel one if you're going to be using it a lot because after about 6 months of weekly use my Al one has ground down edges and chips in it.

    Going to be trying mine out for the first time on my new adamas. There's some slight up and down play and if I tighten the pivot to get rid of it, it's too tight to flip easily. Hoping if I oil up the washers I can smooth it out enough so I can still tighten down the pivot and still be able to flip it smoothly.

    Can anyone tell me who still makes custom scales for mini griptilians? Seems like everyone quit making them including Benchmade. I e-mailed their customer support asking when they'd bring back custom griips and they said there's no plans to. What the heck, I HATE bugouts, I'm not buying one.

    • @zachstuff
      @zachstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scales are currently made by Flytanium, Applied Weapons Technology and many others on Etsy. Hopefully we see them back in the Benchmade Custom Knife Builder in the future.

      @@zachstuff Flytanium discontinued the titanium scales, and the carbon fiber ones are marked up a HUNDRED dollars. Why would carbon fiber scares for a manix be $40 if the mini-grip ones are $140... how does that make any sense? I'm not buy aluminum scales for one of my knives, trying to upgrade, not downgrade.

      Very similarly, I use a scratch awl, which works great. Could this be better? Perhaps. Why I'm tempted is that the breakdown & reassembly process may be just a bit easier - and David, the maker - seems like a super cool guy. That said, gonna have to try a chopstick!
