  • Many practice problems for how to calculate and determine oxidation numbers, often referred to as oxidation states. To figure out oxidation numbers for elements in a compound, we have to look on the periodic table and consult a list of rules. For neutral compounds, the oxidation numbers add up to zero. For polyatomic ions, the oxidation numbers add up to charge of the ion.

Just took my second chem test on Valence electrons, drawing Lewis structures, cations/anions, ionic/covalent compounds, VSPER, electronegativity, polarity, inter/intra molecular forces, etc... I ONLY watched and did all the practice problems from Tyler and got my SECOND 100% on my test!!! I don't even own my Timberlake text book!! This is a timed test 40 problems, 70 minutes. I FLEW through them and had tons of time left over. I have gotten all 100% on my quizzes and tests so far. I can't wait to take my next chem test in two weeks. I KNOW I will get another 100%!! Tyler, you are beyond the very best. You should teach EVERYONE in the US chemistry!!!

These lessons truly help man, being able to come home and look up a video and finally be able to pause and replay and take my time to ACTUALLY learn these concepts are a miracle.

I am taking an online chem class so I do a lot of youtube videos for studying. I have to say that your videos have helped me on all my tests and quizzes. They are simple and you don't use other terminologies like other instructors to confuse me. Thank you so much! I have recommended you to other students struggling with this subject. You are awesome!

I'll stay subscribed though because I have hope that we'll see chem 2 vids pretty soon! Is there anyone else on TH-cam who you can recommend and with your teaching style? Thanks
