Solubility Curves and Practice Problems

  • Here, we look at solubility curves. We see what they mean, how to read them, and how to answer questions using them. We begin with an overview of solutes, solvents, solutions, and solubility, and then look at general trends for solubility and temperature. Then, we look at the process for reading a solubility curve to determine solubilities and different temperatures, and vice versa. Then, we look at unsaturated, saturated, and supersaturated solutions, and how to determine these different types of solutions using the graph of solubility curves. Finally, we do some calculations involving conversion factors where we have to determine the amount of solute that can dissolve in more or less than 100 grams of water.

Hey Tyler, I just want to say thank you for all of the videos that you have made. I got my PhD in Chemistry two years ago. When I was a teaching assistant, I used your videos a lot as a teaching resources to explain complicated concepts. I have learnt lots from them too! I am out of academia now but when I went through my old documents I found that I cited your videos. I checked on TH-cam and wondered if you have any new videos. VOILA!!! You are still posting new teaching videos and I am SOOO happy about it.
Thank you for everything that you have done and are still doing. THANK YOU!

Hey Tyler, glad you are back making videos, you've really helped me with your videos when I was in High school (almost 10 years ago), and now that I am in a completely different field of work, I still check out your videos because I knew how good they were. Hope your videos reach out to many more and helps them.

I sometimes watch your old video's where you'd explain with your handwritten notes and that aesthetic black back ground was truly amazing, I'm more than happy you are back, I'll always come and check your channel for your new videos, because of you I scored full mark's in chemistry, thank you Sir Tyler for that, you are just simply amazing.

I’m so thankful that you made all these videos! I’m not only learning how to solve problems but also how to explain in an academic manner, as my supervisor wants me to present what I have done and will do for my undergraduate research project each week on our weekly lab meeting this summer. You’re greeeeeat!

Hey Tyler, You are a hell of a good teacher! I have been doing research on a 3D system that I call QUAD STEP 288. I have been studying your lessons and I am noticing some of your number sequences are very similar to my Quad Step Geometry. I realize that Quad Step 288 is a revolution to the normally excepted methods of Atomic Structure and I see that my discoveries are getting the silent treatment. It would be nice if you take a look at my discoveries because I can see you really look at most your arrangements in a 3D perspective.

the solubility of a salt is 80g in 100g of water at 100oc and 20g in 100g of water at 25oc.what mass of salt will crystallize, if 50g of the salt is saturated at 100oc where cooled to 25oc?
