- Dragon ball is a franchise full of incredible characters. Some well written, and some not so much.
Today let's delve into the dissapointing character work around Son Gohan and his Acquiring of The Gohan Beast form.
I will be using clips and references from the Dragon Ball Super Superhero movie to make my point, along with proving wrong the claims that gohan has been training in secret.

No Offence to anyone, but i refuse to accept that gohan actually earned that form, and the proof is in the video with the clips i added. We see clear evidence in this movie that IF gohan was even training, then somehow he trained less than his 3 Year Old daughter and has worse senses than he does. Someone that pathetic instantly gained the powers to match Ultra instinct Goku? Really? Sorry but no.

Not only it wasn't earned, but it's also just a reclor of super saiyan 2 Gohan in cell saga but now instead of golden hair it's boring white hair with power to mach ultra instinct goku but also almost made goku lose ultra instinct for a split moment before regaining ui. No offense twords anyone who likes beast Gohan but saying it was earned is objectively wrong, it's just a reclor of super saiyan 2, plus wouldn't it have made sense if pan died in the moive instead of piccolo almost dying? If pan died then it would make sense for a rage boost like beast, BUT NOW HE CAN JUST USE IT WHENEVER?! and of course thru can bring back Pam by using the dragon balls!
I'm a HUGE Gohan fan, but a secret hidden power that just makes you stronger than others around you is never earned. Like, Broly didn't earn his power, he's just "Da Legendary Guy".

And what’s even worse, Gohan can just train for a while and reach levels higher than the god forms, when the whole point of the god forms was that they were so far above anything that regular mortals could achieve on their own. Yet Gohan just does it through training.
Also, isn’t it a bit insulting to the fans to just tell us that Gohan trained in secret, just so that they don’t put in the effort of showing us his struggles? Think about how much we’ve seen Goku train throughout DB, DBZ and DBS to get where he is now. But with Gohan… nah, he just did it in secret and became the strongest ever, no need to see it.
@El3ctr0Lun4 Agree 100%, it was better in Cell when we watched gohan train with goku and achieve SSJ training with Goku.

My theory is Gohan did train on his own and it was not good enough his training was more remembering the basics and, his fighting strategy and his transformations ssj ssj3 and ultimate form. By know Gohan would know he gets stronger when he is pissed off so how he got the beast transformations was not his power but the power he had inside of him when he was a child
bro didn't train has hard as Goku and Vegeta and he was able to go toe to toe with Pui Gohan is cool but broo wakeee up bro keeps turning on and off with his training and keeps getting away with it
He was consistently training between the Goku Black and Zamasu arc. He could've done his own training in that time.
I always say this regarding beast, in the manga he was not actually weak for so long, its just that the super hero movie is missing some context. He didnt earn beast sure, but people love to undersell how strong he was a few months before it, he remained consistient in training since pre top up to at minimum moro, its sometime during granolah when he stops because he went hard on his studies and abandoned teaining for a bit. He matched kefla in the top, which is insane considering shes a fusion and each fusee at their respective top transformation is ssj goku level(i think the anime had them stronger matching ssj3 in their peaks, i cant recall though) and even though it was with piccolo, he was beating an android that copied both of their abilities plus many more, had infinite energy, could steal ki, and was enhanced by moro before arriving. People act like he dropped back to pre resureccion f strength then suddenly caught up to goku, when in reality he was still pretty strong during the moro arc, still definitely way below goku and vegeta, but still strong enough to where 1 rage form, even if an undeserved, is believable that it can reach gokus level. Remember, gohan as a kid was capable of surpassing goku who had been training alot, with no training at all due to his rage boosts being an anomaly in terms of effictivness. Call it undeserved sure, but its not THAT bad scalingwise considering its just always how gohan has been. May be a bit of my gohan and piccolo bias, but I dont think gohans "falling off in training then regaining power suddenly because piccolo made him" arc is going to he used ever again, people didnt like this even though he didnt stop training for that long and toyo is a db fan as much as the rest of us, so hed likely listen to the community and make gohan train consistiently, even if its just a bit to where hes maintaining his power like during moro.
I wouldn't have much of a problem with Gohan's Beast Mode, except with it he's apparently stronger than MUI Goku, UE Vegeta, Orange Piccolo, and controlled Super Saiyan Broly, without putting in even a fraction of the training each of them put in to get that powerful. It's so undeserved that it hurts. Even Broly was putting in leagues more training than Gohan, and he only really started training seriously after the Dragon Ball Super Broly movie.

Gohan did train he just didn’t train for Beast specifically. Hes trained since RoF to ToP which is a 2 year gap in between and he wasn’t even Blue level, he capped at SSJ2. Then there’s the fact he started slacking again even right before Super Hero, with this in mind, Gohan didn’t even get much stronger or weaker since the fight with Moro while in that arc, Goku was knocking around Saganbo in Base alone, the same amped Saganbo who negged Ultimate Gohan.
Gohan always sucked. He barely have 10 full years of actual training. Most of his powerups have come strictly from ass pull forms that were given to him instead of earned through work.
But then again (I’m not glazin Gohan) but I think that he turns off ki sense because he feels he is encroaching

1. How did his ki sense get so bad he couldn't recognise piccolo?
"he was distracted!" if that's your argument. Explain how he still couldn't tell after transforming into super saiyan?
2. Trained with who? Alone? When? Even piccolo didn't know. Pan, his daughter who shares the house, also doesn't know.
Explain yourself. I won't just accept a statement without him showing to us that he did actually train. Meanwhile this video has evidence that there's No Way he actually trained enough
@thespectresociety 🤣 I get what your saying but the ki thing was mostly for humor or to show he takes after his father in some sense, and he pretty much was training through out the tournament arc, morrow arc, and after keep in mind they may not have showed everything so hopefully it will be shown in fillers when the anime returns, remember he only trained for a few days before t.o.p to get back to God level so imagine through all these arcs how much he could have improved it's called potential for a reason
