    OMGOODNESS where have you been all my teaching life lol?! Our classroom schedule is similar, but I'm glad to have hopefully found a kindred spirit. What I'm wondering is how to translate the schedule and activities to remote learning. I'll check for other videos by you, but any direction you could provide would be so appreciated!

    Though I am a 9th grade Sped teacher, I can definitely benefit from some of the various strategies you’ve mentioned. This is my first year teaching in the DOE. I especially like the part where you mentioned that you create a “cheat sheet” for the general education/ content specialist.

    Hey, this coming year will be my first year teaching. Like you, I will be teaching students in elementary school with more severe disabilities. I have loved watching your videos and I love the timed slides!! Do you have a video on how to create your slides? This would be so helpful to keep me on track. I am so excited to start the year, but also really nervous so any advice would help!!

    I'm a parent that meets special needs with all kinds of disabilities every week and it's just moms planning ideas. Mine feels most disabled because he does not like communicating..non verbal but no behaviors. Could you show some activities that improve logical thinking and social activities that we moms can do with all the kids?

It is a real joy to view an attractive educator who is passionate about her role in the expert delivery of special educational services, Do consider a doctorate so you can be a wider advocate of our career calling. God Bless, Joan

    This is a super helpful video. I am just starting my licensure program in Elm/Sped and where I am, I think I'll end up as a gen ed/inclusion class or a pull out teacher. I am still a long way off from having my own classroom but I started subbing in October and was doing so until March...
    I like your idea of earned incentives during the day - but how do you handle a situation where most or many of your students earned their incentives but one or more did not? Do you have a slide that designates "incentive time #1" or whatever and if a student did not earn their incentive, do you have a task for them? What about behaviors? How do you help prevent a melt down when a child doesn't earn the thing they wanted when everyone else did? how do you prevent that from being known by classmates or let it turn into a taunt? In another video you did a while back you talk about classroom community. I am sure that helps but how would you approach this situation where there was ...less community?

    • @thatspecialeducator1061
      @thatspecialeducator1061  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Meltdowns happen for sure. I always have an option for every student. I didn't go into too much in the video but every kid gets an incentive. But the students who have done the most get the best. The kids who barely earned get basically a book or a blank piece of paper.

    • @thatspecialeducator1061
      @thatspecialeducator1061  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, building a community from the beginning is KEY

    I love all of your videos!! What are your thoughts and plans on running your classroom with all of the restrictions and changes due to Covid? I have 8 special ed students in a self-contained classroom so I'm trying to figure out how to give them the movement they need throughout the day while also keeping them "socially distanced" open to suggestions!!!
