    Last Days of a Revolutionary
In 1826, Thomas Jefferson was invited by the mayor of Washington, D.C., to celebrate the 50th anniversary of American independence. Although Jefferson’s failing health prevented him from attending, the author of the Declaration replied with his last letter-he died just weeks later on July 4-offering a beautiful reflection on America’s founding and a message of hope for the nation’s future.

Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.
The College also considers itself a trustee of our Western philosophical and theological inheritance tracing to Athens and Jerusalem, a heritage finding its clearest expression in the American experiment of self-government under law.
By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.

God speed to you and your incredibly fortunate sons. You physically are but frail wisps of staw against the cultural hurricane of chaos and evil sweeping through our country and the whole of Western Civilization. Nevertheless, history has so far proven that it is men like you, with faith and moral courage who like Thomas Jefferson and the other Founders, who have changed the great courses of human events. No matter how dismal the prospects facing us appear to be, do not surrender to the feral dogs of disorder and anarchy. Put your faith in the Torah and the Gospels, and never give in to the forces of evil that confront us. The Declaration and the Constitution, written by Divinely inspired men, created the United States, which remains the shining hope of humanity. As an American combat veteran, I salute you for your faith and patriotism as we celebrate the anniversary of our Founding. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America!

If a man like him were presented to the American people today, they would not only reject him, but they would vilify and destroy him for daring to question the gods that they worship.
Both "sides" of our political aristocracy would be threatened by such an honest and thoughtful person, and their blind followers would happily eliminate him based on the twisted words from their leaders or from some social media demigod that they are obsessed with.

Their political knowledge and overall understanding of the world was exceptional, no doubt and I believe that there are a lot of lessons we can learn from them both, but I do not believe that either of them had accepted Christ as their Lord.

Thank you for this excellent film reenacting a powerful time in our once-great nation's history.
It grieves my heart to be a witness to the decline of this nation we call, The United States of America.
This is what happens when a country turns away from the Living God of Israel, the King and Creator of the universe. America lost her moral compass many years ago, and we are a witness to the decline and fall of this once-mighty nation.
There is an ocean of innocent blood shed in the cruel murder of millions of our precious children, who will never be born, and live to see the beautiful creation of God, to be loved and to love, to play, to laugh and grow up into responsible, young adults, who will bear precious children of their own.
The Lord has every reason to pronounce judgement upon this fallen nation. And so be it.
But, thank you for showing to us a glimpse of what once was, and the high ideals that can be achieved by the grace and mercy of our Sovereign Lord.
May our Lord Most High bless and keep my favorite college the shining light of truth that it is. Long live Hillsdale!

Don't get me wrong, it's not totally their fault. They probably learned this while growing up. For example, I was raised to never ask the government to fix or help me when I had a problem. I was told to come to my family. Life is hard and sometimes it knocks you down hard. If it's hard to get up you reach out to the ones that care the most about you. The government does care about you like your family. 🙂❤️

Bottom line, I'd love to see laws and bills created outside Washington, in an unbiased / nonpartisan environment. Then sent to Washington for review and passage. The (other) inescapable truth outside the elephant in the room, is our lawmakers better start learning to work closer together..... no matter who's in office.

responsibility and accountability the balance of liberty bestowed on us, as 248 years have past since the founding and 198 yrs since the laying to rest of 2 great men, who pledged their lives, their property, their wealth to a cause we now enjoy. For how long we enjoy these freedoms, is up to us. The mantel has been passed from Generation to Generation, we can not trade comfort and convince for our freedom any longer. We are once again at a moment in time that calls out to those who will answer the call .Hillsdale College keeps the light shining bright for all to see, so that the knowledge gained at such a great price is not forgotten. Thank You Hillsdale

Thomas Jefferson was 33 years old when he penned our founding document. Living to 83 yo was a rare feat in 1826.
Amazingly, John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S. and original signer of the DoI, died the very same day as TJ at 90 yo.

    Wow.
I have never heard of Jefferson's last letter. And I find his last words as powerful and the Declaration itself.
I am especially impressed by his last written words:"...mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs nor a favored few booted and spurred ready to ride them legitimately by the grace of God. These are grounds of Hope for others. Let the annual return of this day forever refresh our Recollections of these rights in an undiminished devotion to them."
And I take these words "Let the annual return of this day forever refresh our Recollections of these rights in an undiminished devotion to them." as a warning from Jefferson to me.

Long ago, as a child, I knew in my heart what this country meant and what it was supposed to be. I swore my lifelong allegiance to the Founding Fathers and the Greatest Generation. Those two groups were the pinnacle of our experience and existence, enshrined not only in history, but also my heart. We’re fading now, and both groups would weep if they saw what we have become… but the fire still burns in some of us. I just hope there are enough of us when that horrendous moment we all know is coming finally arrives. Good luck to you all.
