@@rn2cro03 Luckily there are lots of trucking jobs available. There were many trucking companies that reached out to Freightworks and let them know where there were opportunities. I can go back to & most likely work for any of the many trucking companies that i've driven for from 2006 to now!! You definitely DO NOT BURN BRIDGES IN THIS INDUSTRY!! I am currently working for a company now, that i used to work for in the past. During orientation, the classroom instructor would joke with me that i was with the company when we still had standard trucks & ran on paper logs, which i was. This company also took in & accounted for the good previous years i had with them when they rehired me 👍👍!! You just never know when you will need a former company again in your life!! #IJS

You have my highest praise to you for doing so. I compliment you for caring about your employees and customers for reaching out the way you did. I am sincerely sorry it had to come to such drastic measures, but from seeing how emotional you are over this ordeal this was a last resort and something you didn't want to happen. I applaud you in your efforts. What an incredible lady. What a heartfelt apology that she didn't want to have to do. I certainly hope that maybe you can downsize and regroup to make a comeback in your future. The trucking industry really needs people like you that care about their employees and customers. In my 38 years of driving, I have NEVER seen so much compassion for their employees and doing everything they can to make it right. Thank you ma'am.

I've been trucking since 2006, i'm one of the last generations of truckers that were trained on standard/manual/stick transmissions (i believe automatic transmissions were around, but not mainstream like they are today in 2023). I can go back to & most likely work for any of the many trucking companies that i've drive for from 2006 to now!! #IJS

Automatics came out in 2009. Those were great for going up a steep hill. You could climb the highest hill, fully loaded, at 65 mph. They had a serious problem: they would roll backward fast if you didn't have your foot on the brake while slowly gunning it to go forward from a stop. Many crashed into the cars behind them. They were taken off the road and revamped to eliminate that issue. Now, they can't climb a hill really fast like they used to. I learned on a manual in 2005 and had one of those automatics in 2009. I never had any incidents with it. Right now, I have a manual 10 speed.

@Polly Purree cool, i couldn't remember what year the automatics had come out. I do fully love & appreciate the fact that drivers like us can still operate both standards & automatics. I remember one time my automatic truck had broke down in raleigh, nc, the DEF system became messed up on it & the engine derated down to 5 mph maximum! It was in the volvo shop for 4 weeks. The company got me into a standard truck until my automatic was fixed. They wanted to route me back to raleigh, nc to pickup my automatic. But they had to fly me back to raleigh, nc from the dfw metroplex beause all of the available drivers that wanted to ride with me in the standard truck from dallas, tx/fort worth, tx metroplex to the shop in raleigh, nc ALL had an AUTOMATICS ONLY restriction on their licenses & couldn't drive the standard truck back. You talk to some of these new drivers today & tell them about standard trucks & paper logs & they look at you like you're an ancient dinosaur. Hilarious & crazy just how much times have changed 😁😁👍👍.

These mega carriers are ridiculous for hiring foreigners without proper training and paying below minimum wage. When will enough be enough? Mega carriers are gonna get their karma!

Kudos to Freightworks. It's sad when you have to close a company but at least they're doing it the right way by looking out for their people and making sure they get back and giving a bonus to their drivers . When Falcon closed they shut off fuel cards , left drivers stranded and stopped communicating other than to tell them they wouldn't get their final pay until they returned equipment to various locations . I saw a few abandoned Falcon trailers dropped at various truck stops

Thousands of truckers wanted to see this video? Makes me question some of you. This is heartbreaking to see.
As a previous employee of United Furniture, i know what it's like to have the doors close to you. You have to start over, and that's not easy. This economy is down bad. Companies closing left and right. Owner Ops selling their equipment.
It used to be a time you took a low rate load to get to a better freight area. That doesn't exist anymore. Rates are terrible all over. You just have to luck up now. Thoughts and prayers to this company and everyone in this industry. 🙏

I prefer to see videos like these., so hopefully people start preparing for this Depression that is coming. MANY MANY people i'm talking to think this is like 2008 and they've never missed a paycheck so no biggie.
That sudden destruction will lead to hardship. At worse be prepared and nothing happens.
I like the video as it keeps me grounded in reality.

@MrInfo Philly many older generational truckers that are in my circle told me it's not good. But you're right, there are many also overlooking it. It's not only bad for Owner-ops but companies as well. Companies already take pennies for loads. I dont know how much longer anyone can last in this.

😢 this left me crying. I feel her pain. Her story hit home. My family lost just about everything over the same thing. With Kmart. They pulled their contract. We lost the warehouse and tons of trucks, trailers and had to lay off most our drivers. Then the next that couldn’t sustain was our repair shop. We had to close that too. 💔

@@donttruckhere the biggest was Kmart contract. We had the Route 66 clothing line. I guess what was the beginning of the end for Kmart and they canceled the contract. I don’t know off hand exactly how many trucks, trailers and driver we had.
This was many years ago and I was much younger.
We did a lot of electronics import/export as well. A lot was repairs. Back when things weren’t disposable, containers of broken electronics would get shipped to China and sent back after repair. Which that all changed too.
Our repair shop started to suffer as well with having most of our drivers leave to find other routes. Then I can’t remember which one it was but we had a bad storm and the entire repair shop flooded. At that point it was over. My cousin who ran the shop liquidated the assets and sold the building.
With no disrespect to any of my family they are all wonderful people. This was in part a generations thing.
It wasn’t the best area. It had flooded several times before that.
We had branded trucks as well as o/o.
Shame because the businesses lasted several generations.
I worked a lot in the yard and warehouse with my uncle. Backing loads in for the guys, stripping and loading and even helping the temps pick orders if they were short staffed.
For sometime I would pick up containers at the ports in newark and had just started getting into the driving aspect of the business when things started to fall apart.
It’s down to just my one cousin who still does brokerage. He ran the trucks he had for a while and then got rid of that too.
This all happened by the early to mid 2000s.
I ended up going down a bad road for some years so I didn’t stick with it.
I got back into local stuff for a little while pulling shorts but decided to get into mechanical engineering.
I guess to be honest the industry left a bad taste in my mouth after the recessions and seeing how everything fell apart for my families businesses.
I’ve gotten back into the scene a little with some hotshot and express stuff but I have struggled with the exposure to other drivers and how crazy they are.
I was too young to be able to properly process the emotions and became resentful when everything went south.
I missed the boom. I was born in 82. I was getting rides in my uncles cabover before I could crawl. Things were great in the 80s and 90s for trucking. And before that too when my great uncles and cousins started it all. I got a lot of exposure as a kid and always wanted an over the road job.
My cousin is a great guy and he works with most the same drivers and pays them very well. I wish all the brokers were like him.
He’s old school and doesn’t have that young blood greed like so many do now. He knows what it’s like to loose what he had. It destroyed him to close his business and put people out of a job.
So much so he started going to church every single morning. He did for years and years. He never could shake the guilt which I think is part of why he’s so good to his o/o now.
He’s the oldest one out of any of us that had any part in the business.
      The others have passed unfortunately.
Its so heartbreaking to see what’s happening to this planet. This is not how it was intended to be.
I’m now changing careers again. Dissolving my main business and seeking a career as a pilot.
In the next 10 years when I am settled in that I plan to buy a rig.
Sad part is I don’t foresee any of the youngsters in my family getting into trucking. They don’t have the exposure.
Holidays when I was a kid was like a trucking convention at my house.
Christmas everyone would come and before anyone made it into the house they had to take me for a ride in their tractor.
Now there’s nothing. Some family members don’t even like bringing up stories about when things were good. It’s sad.
I’m a huge fan of gentry and sons because that kid Braxton is just like me when I was his age and he’s surpassed me with what he does.
Seeing any kid get excited over a truck warms my heart.
My uncle wouldn’t let me back a load in until I had a D/L. Lol. But I used to take the switcher for joy rides sometimes when I would hook up a trailer. Until I pulled in one day and my uncle standing there with his hands on his hips.
They realized they either had to put me on the road or fire me. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️.
But once I started getting into it things went south.
I feel like there is unfinished business.
I’ve rambled on enough I suppose. But even though things went south I still love talking about it and sharing memories.
Sadly though I feel like every conversation I have with my cousin is about how fked up things are getting.
He’s been through so many of these recessions and so far he’s been able to survive. He once came close to loosing everything. If it weren’t for his amazing and successful children to help him through he would have.
But no one to pass the torch to.
If you listened to all that I thank you. Appreciate the comment.
My prayers to all drivers and o/o and small companies trying to make it.

@@donttruckhere well I wasn’t the run running the show. But once Kmart pulled out there was no use for the warehouse. 80%+ of the warehouse was Kmart pants.
That’s not something that you can just replace overnight. It was a small family ran operation with a lot of overhead.
Just in the same way we’re seeing way bigger company’s fold.
