    I’m probably too laid-back to get into competitions - never been to one, but it’s fun to see what they’re all about. Great video! 👍✌️

    Great comp overview!
    i really need to get out that direction for crawling - it is like you are in a different world compared to what we get here in TN.

    I think using reverse is essential for safe rock crawling. Sure it’s better if you can do it without but I like not having a penalty as well. It leaves you open to feel like you can take the optimal route without sacrificing points.

    I noticed you guys are running the stock skid. I swapped to a STH skid and it's made a drastic difference to clearing obstacles. I'm also running a rear link riser on my rear steer axle and carbon fiber beadlock wheels. I use to run heavy brass rings on generic 80gram metal beadlock rims for side hilling, front bias, and keeping torque twist under control. To my shock, running lighter wheels has really reduced the torque twist because it takes a lot less torque to move the much lighter rig, the side hilling isn't really impaired with the suspension setup I run, and it still has enough front weight bias to keep the front end down especially with the rear anti squat link riser.
    .
    The skid was a huge difference. Before, say crawling a curb, the skid would force the body up higher. Now the CG of the body is lower and it doesn't want to lift and the front end stays nice and low. I did need to take a dremel to the skid to reduce overhangs and bits that catch like the rod ends.

      I try to take full advantage of the terrain both with RC, SxS and rock crawlers. Luckily the rocks down here are warm through the winter.

You approach with a common sense driving skills. looking for competition here on the east coast. where is everybody? will i need to come out west? competition is fun!

    I know those squeaky driveshafts anywhere. I use gun CLP oil on mine. If it can keep my firearms operating smoothly in dusty conditions then why not some RC universals. Also good for removing dirt.

    Awesome capra brotha, i want one. Soon I'll have one. I wanted to ask though. As far as size on the tires, do you like the 2.2 better than the 1.9 size? I was thinking of upgrading the size once I got mine but wasn't sure about that. Much respect, congratulations on an awesome capra you have!

    Is he not running any springs on those shocks? is that a thing?

    • @westdesertwheeler
      @westdesertwheeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He is not, I guess you would call it a droop setup but his skid clearance is really bad and it drags on everything. But the low center of gravity is great

    Great video and I loved the commentary. However I was losing it at the people working or assisting in the event. Kept walking in front of the car slowing you down, putting the winch in bad spots etc… There should be a silent policy. Yes it’s just a fun comp but it’s still pretty annoying to be hindered by anyone other than yourself.
