    Before the scale scene took over rc, this was at one point the most popular segment of rc crawling.

    Took my Bully2 out for it's maiden run yesterday up at Curbar Edge in Derbyshire's Peak District. It crawled every rock I asked of it and then turned and laughed at me. The ascents it is capable of made me repeatedly shout WOW. A superb machine...

    Great video! I’ve converted my Bully II with 2 brushless sensored Hobbywing XeRun AXE 540 motors plus 4 wheel steering. I’m running a DX5Pro and am using the Drive Modes to control the overdrive and provide front and rear drag. At the moment I’m running 56:44% overdrive for crawling but you can set assign different drive rations to different Drive Modes to allow on the fly changes.

    I remember when MOA was extremely popular and there were so many MOA kits on the market like the original RC4WD Bully, the Axial XR10, and the Enroute Berg. I also remember RC4WD sold 1/8th scale kits like the Rockbull and the Superbully.

    If it hasn't already been said, you should assign a switch so that you can control overdrive on the fly. Sometimes, an even mix is what you want, other times you may need to completely stop either the front or the rear axle from moving at all. Being able to control that on the fly is priceless.

    Awesome video Logan, I really enjoyed watching the run. I think what I like best in your video style is when your doing the commentary on the drive in real time your not playing thumping background music/noise and that's fantastic in my opinion. I want to be able to hear what it is your telling your audience with out the distraction of background music competing with you and you give your viewers that. Very decent camera angles all while driving as best as you can under the circumstances of doing multiple things at once, not an easy task at all. I watch your videos for the great content and what you have to say and my dog who is a black lab border collie cross watches them and loves seeing your dog running around. Your channel is entertaining for both humans and pooches as well. That Bully is more mountain goat than a real mountain goat. Great driving and looking forward to more.

      It seems to me that what you have to offer is more than a cool video. Watching a well shot video with some music is fun but we’re not here for that. We’re here to hear you as much as watch what you’re doing. I’ve just started filming and driving, practice for starting a channel, and you, sir have some skill. Driving and filming is hard enough but your ability to see and know exactly what the car is going to do and then explain what you’re doing, what the car is about to do and why, is impressive. Keep it up!

    Next time you go over that tough 90 degree incline hook. Set your dig when climbing and you'll get up even easier. That dig puts all the force onto the front and changes the force from a balanced push / pull to a strong front pull. Using it while climbing seems strange but it's one of the biggest advantages dig has because the torque forces those front wheels to the ground. The biggest reason people flip over is high CG and rear torque. You can shut yours off anytime you want, it's almost not even fair 😂. 👍

    Foams too stiff IMO, causing that traction hop at the 10min mark.
    I’m running some fairly soft outer foams in my “2.2 pro” rig, and some old hot bodies rover tires and I like to hit dig and get the front tires to squat the foams a little bit and really bite into/ on top of a ledge and it does a nice job of popping up and going when you put it back in 4wd and the foams unload. Like at 19:47 it would’ve bit on that ledge easier.

    Do you think those pin type comp tires are better than a scale replica type tread design? It would be cool to see the pin tread carry right over down sidewall of tire.

    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely the pins are better. More edges to get traction, and the lugs are short enough that you don’t get the lug fold like what tends to happen with more scale like tires.
      Although many scale tires now are of a good compound and foam tuning can make them nearly as capable. But yeah; the bare sidewalls can be a little bit of a downside as there are no side lugs to hold and grab with. I’d like to see some more side lugs as well.

    • @westdesertwheeler
      @westdesertwheeler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I hear the wheel thing a lot. Why go lighter wheels? I’m not spinning them fast so rotational weight isn’t an issue. It’s weight at the end of the axle and down low. What’s the advantage of light wheels?

    • @progressive_rc
      @progressive_rc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westdesertwheeler ideally you want as little totating mass as you can.
      Then you add knuckle weight in the front and as low as you can.
      The idea is just to lower the CG as much as possible. The knuckle weight can be mounted bellow axle center line. On a heavy wheel half of their weight is above axle center line.
      Also try to reduce the rear weight as much as you can. With a good front bias weight (at least 60%in the front axle), once the front axle is on a ledge and with decent grip it will just pull the rear axle up, no matter what, because the majority of the weight is already over the the obstacle.

    • @progressive_rc
