- Sam and Tom get into the heart of Christmas and watch The Chosen episode that started it all, The Shepherd. They talk about the significance of shepherds throughout the Bible, the importance of Yeshua being born in Bethlehem Ephrath like the last child of Jacob (Benjamin), why "sheeps" matter, and Sam even shares a little bit about his newest family member!

“ People must know”…let’s get to work my Christian Brothers and Sisters!!!! 🙏🙌❤️
See ya all in Heaven!! God bless you!!
So good to see this a second time for this Christmas.
The sublime story of the incarnation!
One of the most beautiful emotional scenes I’ve seen first time as in a birth of Christ Jesus…the crippled Shepard that offered water was not forgotten 🥲🥲🥲
The connection between Benjamin and Jesus....amazing🤯🤯🤯
Joseph' faithfulness and Abraham' are worth following as Christians!
Watching this it occurred to me that the Father, our Great Shepherd, offered up His spotless Lamb. How glorious is our God. Praise His name forever and ever!
Couldn't stop the tears.
Thank you, Tom, for adding the insight from the book of Genesis. God is the One who suffered yet was fully man, fully God.
I am all in. I have been a bible believing Christian for decades. The veins in scripture about the Messiah are life giving to me. The son of suffering and the son of my right hand. 😭 Incredible. Heartbreaking and heart restoring.
Somebody commented on the episode that the shepherd gave water to Mary when she was thirsty and in the end he got to hold the "living water", wow just wow, that was awesome! 🙏😇
I love how Mary and Joseph take a strip of Jesus’ swaddling clothes to wrap the Shepherd’s wound. “By His stripes you are healed.”
It’s me
It’s m
W
It’s me
I was watching their faces for their reaction to the shepherd running ---- I have had two knee replacements and have lost a lot of my mobility (I can't kneel to find stuff under the sofa, I can't kneel to scrub floors, or garden ... or say my prayers (which bothers me the most). I did not know my limitations until after the fact! God has been teaching me so much because of it. However, seeing the shepherd running reminded me of a time when God did "touch" me and despite my limitations, I ran and ran and ran around in an area where there was an "open-air service" (outdoor church.) The feeling when God touched me was as if I could run a marathon! As this shepherd was running ... my heart was beating so fast and cheering him on! Oh how I could feel his excitement and anticipation! Needless to say, I bawled! It wrecked me. I've watched that show several times and I am so touched by that one scene! BUT, wait ... there is more to come! I love how the shepherd is the one who gets handed the baby. The others wanted him first but it was the shepherd who took time to meet the need of Mary with water. Here the shepherd gets to hold the baby and then is bandaged up in Jesus' strips of swaddling cloth. Oh, I get sooo much out of this scene! It has wrecked me. "The Spotless Lamb was found"! ... and someday soon, I will look upon His face ... The One who died in my place. Unbelievable!!!
I watched all of Chosen so far, but didn't know this piece existed.
I have to watch this over and over again 🤞❤️🙏 thank you for this video it brings the Bible to
life thank you chosen people
It's awesome that one church's Christmas re-enactment has blessed millions of us!
I'm late viewing this, but i've got to say re that Benjamin connection to Bethlehem & Jesus' birth there also, just made me think how detail oriented God is....he never overlooks a single tiny, minute thing...He thinks of every detail no matter how small. What a mighty God we serve..what more can you do but fall on your face & worship Him,👏 🙌
Did you notice, also, as the lame shepherd was returning to his fellow shepherd family he was rejected by them just as Christ was rejected by His people. There is so much powerful imagery in this series. Praise the Lord‼️
God is amazing. He is incredibly detailed and all the patterns and connections in the Bible are just a glimpse of His Perfection and Glory and Wisdom and wowwww
He is the shepherd and the lamb, the “beginning and the end”
Watching you guys cry makes me cry. :)
I’m not crying you’re crying!
Love your wisdom of the gospel + it's history! Learn so much from you two and your analysis. Thank you and God bless 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching!
Tom, Who can imagine your soul-deep connection ... He can. Blessed are those that mourn for they shall be comforted.
I 😢 every time I watch this, while learning and seeing something I missed in previous viewings....
I can't get through any episode of the Chosen without tearing up.
I've lost count of how many times I've seen this; 3 or 4 maybe. It hits harder every single time I watch it.
That ending gets me every time.❤️😭
I loved this, truly defines humility and healing. How poetic the lame gets to hold the Lord!
beautiful. just beautiful.
I recently discovered you two and I love you both!! Especially your reactions to The Chosen. I love that you are not afraid to cry!! Amazing insights and the two of you together are a hoot! Thank you so much for your work!
Welcome aboard!
The revelation about Ben-Yamin is very very DEEP!
Blessed be the blameless Lamb of God Yeshua Jesus🙏🏼
This absolutely wrecked me. God ties his stories is neat packages. He is so into the details. It makes me love him more.
AWESOME 🎯 GRAFTED just AWESOME reactions of the SHEPHERD. Can't wait for reactions of "THE MESSENGERS"
I want to pile on with a Thank You for sharing the Benjamin/Yeshua parallel.
I feel the same way as the shepherd waiting for His return.
Thank you so much for this… thank you so much…I just have no words….for the Glory!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The shepherd‘s leg got healed as he was running to meet Jesus. He came with his arm wounded and they took a piece of swaddling cloth that was around Jesus and gave it to the shepherd so I can only imagine in this storyline that his arm was also healed. I thought that was so beautiful.
When you watch again pay attention to the scripture that is being read by the priest, Isaiah, just before this scene.
@@peggykelliher5698 The lame shall leap .... beautiful!
Thank you..again.🙏
Ah, The Shepherd, where it all started. Ahem, you’re welcome 😉.
And I loved the insight on Benjamin and Yeshua, and also the continuity of scripture with shepherding. So good!
And, and, and then accepted and reconciled with them in the end, just as we are accepted and reconciled to our Heavenly Father thru our faith and trust in The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. To God be the glory for great things He has done‼️
Thank you for the insight from Genesis! Wow! So powerful!
Our church played this episode Christmas 2018, after our Pastor shared a powerful sermon about sacricial lambs. There were live lambs in the sanctuary-one baby lamb just 4 days old! It started bleating when baby Jesus started crying in the film. A moment I'll never forget-hearing the lamb and the baby crying simultaneously. What an illustration of Jesus being born to die ❤🙏✝️
This is not Boring this is sooooooo wow
The symbolism is phenomenal and well thought out...and the lame will leap with joy
Wow when you guys talked about the shepherds and in the Bible how throughout biblical history and that opened my eyes like Christ is our shepherd we are His sheep i feel like that could have been leading all to Christ coming our shepherd and our lamb that was slain.
Wiping tears again, so beautiful!! At the end when the priest say have you found a spotless lamb! Yes Jesus!!!
You two are just the best, always learn stuff here, thank you.
I first saw "The Shepherd" before Dallas gave us THE CHOSEN. I remember sobbing. I remember thinking , "whoever did this I hope more is coming." Little did I KNOW.
God Father has written His story for us, His children, to share all of Himself with us. He understands we need the storyline to have parts repeated and continue clearly from beginning to end.
“He is so kind,” I am crying quietly, “He is so kind.” He, the humble, broken shepherd, runs without his braces. “He is so kind.”
The shepherd, hearing the Pharisee’s question, stunned, realizes slowly, the baby he saw, will not be the conquering king, to begin with, but rather, the spotless, sacrificial lamb.
Shocking as that unfolding revelation was, he knew the rest of the story.
He is so kind. Our shepherd, is so, so kind.
Thank you for your reaction to The Shepherd. Your humanity showed in the comments and your tears shared touched me so much as a mother who knows what it is to give birth.
The Good Shepherd held by the shepherds in the mess of the world He created. Amazing
Love your reactions. So beautiful & love the little lame shepherd. What a precious innocent face he has. Dallas Jenkins is brilliantly blessed & a huge blessing. Thank you Dallas.
This makes the scriptures so real!
Than, you for deep dive into this Christmas story
Every time from the moment the Angels show up and forward it is a fountain of tears for me. I especially love the last part. They did such an awesome job.
This is the 1st video that just reduced me to a puddle of tears. More followed with the Chosen. Jesus was the Shepherd and the Lamb and the Lion of Judah.
Wow. The connection to Rachel??? Wow. I love how you help us connect the dots like no one else. Even to see dots we otherwise would miss. Thank you, dear brothers in Christ!
I think I have watched this 50 times(seriously) I cry every time. Benjamin son of my right hand!! Gen 35:18 The Lords word is amazing!
The crippled shepherd is so relatable to each of us...that when he's chosen, we are also called like him to seek Jesus ! So powerful is this
message, that it will continue to turn lives upside down and inside out...until Jesus returns!
Thank you GRAFTED for sharing all your inspiring insights with us!
Thank you for your genuine grace filled commentary. Blessings to you and yours this season of light and everyday . HALLELUJAH!!
Abel, Sam! Abel!!!
I so love the insight you give to scripture with a Judaic viewpoint. Putting it into context with the culture and time period makes my understanding so much deeper and richer. Thank you, Sam and Tom!
I so love this. It is what got me hooked on THE CHOSEN!
Joy TO the world !
This just wrecked me (in the best way) the first time I watched it. Still does.
I love how you wove the Shepherd together throughout history and it is so an "Ahhhhhh" moment. Jesus is out Shepherd. Love your analysis!
Thank you Sam & Tom for your insights to The Shepherd. If you didn’t notice, as the shepherd was running to the stable, just before he dropped his crutch, they cut to some grass. There flashed some grass that showed a cross, just for a second. Very awesome image! 🥲❤️
I hadn't noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out. I will watch again closely.
Love the insights and connections you share!
I want a sweat shirt that says PEOPLE MUST KNOW!!!
Aloha from Hawaii 🌺 thank you guys for that beautiful connection of Ben-Oni and Ben-Yamin, Bethlehem, David and Yeshua. So powerful!! 400 years of silence and then it all changes with the sound of a baby's cry!!🌹
I love the imagery of Mary and Joseph using Jesus' swaddling clothes to bandage the shepherd's injury...a simple but perfect way to illustrate exactly who He is and why He has come!! ❤
Sam and Tom, I always love watching your reaction videos. I learned so much from your insights and comments. That piece on Benjamin is so amazing how that was a foreshadow of Yeshua. God is so intentional. He writes his stories so well and so neatly. I love him so much.
I always LOVE Tom's insights! I never connected Benjamin's birth with Jesus' birth before! And to think I read Scripture every year, cover to cover. That's something I've never seen! That's amazing!
Ditto!
🤯🤯
I think that is awesome about Benjamin! How the names were actually the same!
Interesting point about shepherding. Years later, Yeshua tells Simon Peter (once a fisherman by trade), to "Feed My sheep." Love you guys!
Thank you, I'm blessed by every video you'll do . Stay blessed !
This 22 minutes of film is so powerful! Sam, you said it: “human and glory” of Jesus is shown so well. This really does paint that picture. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge with us. When I watch your reaction videos, I feel like I am watching with friends. You pull us in and not only teach us, but invite us to sit with you and enjoy Jesus. So good!
Joseph saw the Light 🔥 The Sheppards Saw 🔥👀🔥 Confirmation
Wow. Thanks guys. Learned something new - again!!!
💙💙💙
Seen this a few times - with your comments added I am gaining a deeper understanding (eg. Nazareth/Bethlehem, shepherds around Jerusalem, Abel- the shepherd, Rachel-Miriam, Benjamin etc....) Wow! Amazing is the Lord!!!
Two things I find so interesting is about the healing is that his cut didn’t heal and nobody even acknowledged the healing. They were so focused on him. I thought that was amazing to me.
Wonderful!!!
Wow. I cried several times watching this commentary. I started a Bible study aimed at "seeing Christ in ALL Scripture" because the case for Christ is found within the covers of the Bible, in the continuum of the Bible story. I am thankful that today I have "seen" Christ in the story of the birth of Benoni/Benyamin. I am really fascinated about God in that "from the beginning to the end, Christ is THE Story" (as per the song "Christ the True and Better Adam" by the Ghetty's. Thanks for this insightful commentary. God bless your ministry!
I was led to watch this before while waiting for episode 7 season 2. I cried even at the start of the video. it felt like a devotional as it was impressed on me in the spirit: God's compassion to his people.
The story can be applied in modern days too:
-- How the brokenness (broken leg) and being wounded (stumbled and bled) can speak to some Christians; their churches no longer tending to their sickness. But our God is not blind of their suffering.
- How Pharisees have come back through spiritual pride to bring to the righteous Christian the law (through pastors, elders, worship leaders of some churches who are no longer of God's). There was a semblence of the blemished sheep and the suffering shepherd as even today works had been put as yoke on the Christian in order to be called righteous. The elders had forgotten the cornerstone of the faith, i.e. Jesus and the price He paid for us on the cross.
I made a prayer related to this video:
Prayer for those who have long been in the faith and serving God but have grown weary in their journey
Dear Father,
As the dear panteth for the waters, so our souls pant for You. Our souls thirst for You God, our living God
The path had been difficult and very long LORD. The waiting feels long and uncertain. We had become weary, thirsty and lacking strength on the way. We had fought battles that left us wounded LORD and we endured the bleeding with no immediate bandages to cover and stop it. The battle has left us crippled and our hearts dry.
But our hope and confidence is in You, as we strive to become a tree planted by the water, it sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It will not worry in a year of drought and will never fail to bear fruit.
We come to You LORD to drink of the living water that will refresh our soul and make us thirst no longer.
Though the waiting feels like the Israelites who waited 400 yrs-endured heavy taxation, deafened and numbed by multiple laws of the synagogues, and the prophets silenced- before the good news of the birth of Emmanuel, we keep our hope in You, knowing that those who hope in You will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Though we are hard pressed on every side we keep our testimony of the cross that bought our salvation for a price. We cling to Your Promises LORD, and we cling to them tightly knowing that whoever loses his or her life for Your sake, he or she will find it
*Recite Isaiah 35:3-10
Recite Isaiah 9:6-7
We run to You Father
In our weakness, we find strength in You, knowing that the joy of the LORD gives strength.
And we endure until the end until we can say, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the LORD will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
God is proud of you child,
your faith is beautiful.
Holy Spirit break the yoke put upon us by this world, cancel all assignments of the spirit of religion now in Jesus' mighty name.
And to us will dwell the Holy Spirit, and everlasting joy and peace. For truly, where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is freedom.
We ask all these in Jesus' mighty name. Amen
In JESUS name we pray and agree PRAISE THE LORD HALLELUYAH HALLELUYAH HALLELUYAH!
Thank you for this prayer.
May our LORD bless you and keep you. Shalom.
Loved the connection between the names of Rachel’s last son!!!
Knew Joseph was a picture of Yeshua who suffered and then ruled by saving the world from famine!
Thank you!
Thank you watching from CANADA 🇨🇦
This is still my favorite episode of all. So simple yet profound...truly powerful.
Thought of a name for your goat! "Scape"! 😄
Also. Heard it insinuated that the Shephards the angels appeared to were of the priestly type, that only breed their sheep and kept them in the Bethlehem caves (stables) so they would be perfect. Joseph and Mary ended up there (no room at the inn) and Jesus too was born in those "priestly" stables for lambs of the sacrifice.
The shepherds would also wrap the newborn lambs in swaddling cloths to keep them from getting stepped on or hurt and put them in a manger because it was the safest place. So when the angel said "this will be a sign for *you*", the meaning was something the shepherds specifically would have understood.
Thanks so much for pointing out the story of Benjamin.
I always learn something new from you guys. The Benjamin connection blew my mind. #peoplemustknow
What I particularly love is how Baby Jesus's wailing sounds exactly like a bleating Lamb!
Thank you for this video, you are amazing. I've started reading the Bible and I know it is a long way but I love the connections you mentioned. It gives me a new perspective of the Bible, it is not just a book, it is a Living Book. Thank you
Wow thank you for this insight, I have read Genesis so many times and never connected Benjamin's birth with Yeshua. Keep on making these videos there are a blessing! 🙏🏾
Thank you, for explaining the correlation between Son of Suffering and Son of My Right Hand. It is phenomenal! Your channel is such a blessing to me. Our God worked it out, fit all the pieces of the puzzle together. I have my ticket for the December 1st showing of "The Messangers".
So glad to hear we have been a blessing to you!
Wow, thank you! We have to start this season off right - starting with watching "The Shepherd again (the Christmas story from the eyes and perspective of the shepherd and the others) then The new Christmas special this year with the new episode (same story from the eyes of Joseph and Mary).Thank you for your added scriptures and showing how the connect
I never thought of Jesus and Benjamin’s birth place were in the same place. Thanks
😂😂 I love you guys! Hilarious, as always. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, emotional moment with us. Never get tired of seeing this episode. 🧡
Love your insights, guys. This is just so eye-opening. It's a beautiful experience to watch The Shepherd with you. Thank you so much!
GREAT INSIGHT !!!!!!
I've seen The Shepherd before but watching this video now after seeing Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers. OMG!! From everything I've gradually learned in the past few years, you don't know how much more real and the enormity and depth of God and Yeshua is to me right now!! I'm a very experiential and deep person and I feel such a connection with the whole "story" or reality of God's word. And, how it's not just His word, but Him. We are all connected to not only God, but each other and carry this connection to God's people and story from the very beginning of Creation to the now in ourselves. We just exist physically in the now.......One thing I picked up on though, is Rachel died "on the way" to Bethlehem. There must be some significance to this. Maybe it's emphasizing how God had His entire plan of and for Creation before He created it.
I really enjoyed this video! I loved your insight and your reactions! Thank you for sharing with us! 🙏✝️❤
