    Great channel, great video! GMs have been really bad this season in south western Quebec as well. Taped my trees in early June and put out traps mid July. The traps worked very well. The moth stage seems to be mostly over now. FYI, it's important to note that when removing egg masses that they too go into soapy water to ensure they die. If simply brushed off the tree/surface, they can survive into next season. Tree taping, pupae removal (also into soapy water), trapping, and egg mass removal are all important things one can do to reduce the population. Seems like a drop in the bucket, but every little thing helps for sure.

    Ha, wow, that is amazing. I have not noticed those moths around here in Virginia. That was very interesting and fun. I sure did learn something. Hope you catch a Bunch. 💖

    That trap is great! I have heard of people using tape around trees for the caterpillars,they definitely should not do that as many other critters get stuck on the tape.

    I wish I had seen this a month ago. I’ve been fighting them. Thanks much. Now I know.

    They sure have a powerful urge in response to that pheromone! I wonder if they would make good bait for fishing, once they are dead, lol. Or feeding chickens. Best of luck in knocking back their population. Invasive pests seem like a never-ending challenge.

    I would like to know what the lure is and why the importance of the gloves. Is it caustic? What are the warnings on the package? Thanks for the very interesting video.

      It is a pheromone attractant. Likely a sex pheromone since the male moths are so drawn to it. Without gloves, it gets in your skin. The moths would be following you all over!

    Thanks for sharing this tip. I would think a clear bottle would be better to use?

    • @TheWildYam
      @TheWildYam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they go towards a hormonal cue not visual. It is actually gross to see how many hundreds of moths this trap catches. I'm happy it was an opaque bottle. :)
