    🚄 INFORMATION KEY
    Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more
    ➤ en.wikipedia.o...
    Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more
    ➤ en.wikipedia.o...
    Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

    As for the trains: lots of 800s, nice, never knew GWR had 387's, learn something new every time. Good to see no diesels there as electric rail is sadly the way now. Also nice to see Heathrow express.

    Paddington, also known as London Paddington, is a Central London railway terminus and London Underground station complex, located on Praed Street in the Paddington area. The site has been the London terminus of services provided by the Great Western Railway and its successors since 1838. Much of the main line station dates from 1854 and was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
    Paddington is the London terminus of the Great Western Main Line; passenger services are primarily operated by Great Western Railway, which provides the majority of commuter and regional passenger services to west London and the Thames Valley region as well as long-distance intercity services to South West England and South Wales. It is also the terminus for the Heathrow Express and TfL Rail services to and from Heathrow Airport and Reading. It is one of 11 London stations managed directly by Network Rail. It is situated in fare zone 1 and has two separate tube stations providing connections to the Bakerloo, Circle, District, and Hammersmith & City lines, and from 24 May 2022, the Elizabeth line.
    The station has been perennially popular for passengers and goods, particularly milk and parcels. Major upgrades took place in the 1870s, the 1910s and the 1960s, each trying to add additional platforms and space while trying to preserve the existing services and architecture as much as possible. Paddington was first served by London Underground trains in 1863, as the original western terminus of the Metropolitan Railway, the world's first underground railway. In the 20th century, suburban and commuter services appeared at Paddington as the urban sprawl of London moved westwards. Despite the numerous upgrades and rebuilding, plus damage sustained in particular during World War II, Brunel's original design is still recognisable.

    • @StarlifeStudios
      @StarlifeStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest, with the AT300s, I think they could have been a great replacement had the interiors been spec’d correctly and I think exactly that will be shown in the new EMR 810s and Avanti 805/7s. As we are beginning to see very clearly now, the DfT can not be trusted to run the railway, they have no interest in passenger comfort and are happy to run a reduced, sub-par service to tick the box. Have you heard that the GWR HSTs will be replaced soon? There is supposedly going to be a Powercar reduction in December. 😞

    • @ejc7129
      @ejc7129 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StarlifeStudios agree with all of that, especially the DfT, but I personally still dislike the AT300’s as there were far better designs submitted for the IEP project in 2011/2012, but the DFT chose Hitachi 😊👍🏽 Yes the industry now thinks the HST is unsafe after the Carmont land-slide last year 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤔👀 After 46 years of mainly sterling and safe service, the HST is being used as a political scape-goat for shoddy drainage works at Carmont which caused the derailment 😢🇬🇧 Very sad indeed...BR’s once flagship train which helped save our railways from further cuts in the 1970’s is now being treated with contempt.

      So the Oyster system is a little confusing regarding this, I’ll try to break this down for you. The Oyster system is designed to stop people trying to avoid their fare and one of the ways they do this is by charging people who entered and exit at the same station. In your case, for 30 minutes you would be charged the minimum pay as you go fare (which is usually about £2.50) but this varies depending on the area but is a good rule of thumb for zones 1 to 6.
