Hi everyone, I no longer use Rub N Buff as my preferred metallic paint, but you can check out my current favourite paints and supplies on my Amazon page (affiliate link) www.amazon.com/shop/lostwax
Hey guys, just thought I'd mention this, as I have some comments that I am not able to answer due to the google plus settings of their accounts. So, if you would like me to answer your questions, if you could go into Google plus settings, open Google account settings, Where it says "who can click on your public posts" change it to "anyone" That would be awesome!
+Maaz H Hi Maaz, I hear what you are saying, the problem is that it takes me about a month of full time work to design the patterns(which usually need a bunch of different sizes) record and edit the tutorial, and write up a complete step by step procedure that is part of the purchased pattern. So, as you can understand, if I didn't charge a small amount for the pattern, I wouldn't be able to feed my family, I would need to get a job at the local burger joint, and there would be no more patterns. And I would be sad. Not that I don't like burgers, they're great. I actually do have a few free patterns so you can check out the quality of my work if you would like- check out the Viking shield and axe pattern. Hope you understand:) Have a super great day! Chris.
Hi Mr Lost Wax. I am incredibly grateful to you for spending the time to make the patterns and the tutorials for us. Your prices are so cheap and if you buy the bundle as I did its only about $3 per pattern. Please make more. I will always buy from you and never complain about having to pay. Attractive, Affordable and You are amazing....
Thanks Rosina, I really appreciate the feedback. I am definitely making more patterns, though I am a little slow at the moment as I am spending a lot of time with my ailing father right now. Thanks for your support!
WAAAAY COOL! I've tried other mini top hat patterns & DIY videos and they require A LOT more supplies than this. And they're not nearly as steampunky or industrial looking. Nicely done! Thank you for all your patterns and videos.
Do you know how much I LOVE this Channel??????? This is so so so so so amazing. I love this so much. I'm so obsessed with Steampunk, but I can't really afford the expensive products available online, and most of my homemade ones aren't exactly stellar. But thanks to this Channel, I'm now full of ideas and ready to whip up some Steampunk goodies. Thank you so so so much!!!
You are really amazing with your DIY's AND video's! They are just brilliant, and I'm always reeeeaaaally exited when I see a new video is up! Steampunk is awesome, you are awesome. (y)
You´re Awesome Guy, hahaha. I thought the first part of the video was a Kellog´s commercial, hahaha. Great idea to give people a good humour and attitude. Congrats!!!!!
I have watched this several times now. Not only to learn but to watch the intro. I really love your humor! And your hats are amazing. Greetings from Denmark btw. 😊
I have just made one of these top hats and I was blown away. For a first attempt it was so close to perfect that I was amazed at how easy this was. Between the video tutorial and the instructions this was a lot easier to put together than it looked and it with very little practice I am sure I will be able to make them perfectly and quickly. You are awesome, I want to have your babies!!!
Well this is WAAYYYYY harder than it looks like!!!! Wow just finished my first top hat and believe me, I'll have to make some more to have the perfect one. You make it look a bit too easy I think, but still an awesome tutorial. Thanks for your good work.
You are by far my FAVORITE DIY'er!! I've done a few of your patterns so far, and about to purchase another!! Please keep making awesome patterns and projects!!
This is awesome. I'm making a ventriloquist dummy for Halloween and I wanted his top hat to look top notch, but small enough to fit his head. This is PERFECT. Thank you for this, you are a lifesaver!
Loveee these!!! My husband and i are renewing our vows in 3 years for our 10 year and i get my steampunk wedding! Making these would be great as wedding favors or for my bridesmaids :) i love your stuff
This shall be very useful, me and my girlfriend planned on wearing top hats to prom, she wanted a mini one, and I wanted a full size one, and then I remembered you made both
Because you made this video, I was able to make a really amazing hat for a steampunk doll which I gave to my little sister for Christmas. Thanks a lot, man.
All your videos are sooo helpfull to can experience the steampunk-feel by ourselves. 👏 All I got to say is... Thank you, sir!! I really love your channel. 😎 lml
Worked for me. Another satisfied customer. And I was able to buy everything I needed at Wal-Mart (which is the most evil place on earth, but I didn't have time to shop around) so sourcing stuff for this project is a snap if you live in North America. (I will say I didn't have rub n buff and just dry brushed some silver acrylic instead)
Awesome! I've watched this many times since I discovered your videos last week. I have also referred your videos and patterns to my friend. I look forward to see more of your inventions!
I made myself a 1m High top hat for a party thanks to your inspiration, Definitely going to be using your patterns from now on, (MIne wasn't as streamline and classy)
New Subbie. That was FANTASTIC!!! I have just purchased my very first miniature hat and I am just dying to alter it or even make my very own from scratch. Thanks to your very detailed tutorial I feel so much more confident in just going for it. TFS your amazing creative talent with us!
I just bought your mini top hat pattern a couple days ago, and I love it! It also happens to be a great pattern to enlarge for normal sized hats. Soon as I get mine done I'd love to show you what your awesome pattern helped me make. :)
Awesome! I'd suggest to start with one of the simple patterns like the top hat to get a feel for working with the foam. - And I get a lot of foam at garage sales, so keep your eyes open and you can get it really cheap!
Lost Wax oh cool thank you, yeah I was thinking 1st one the mini top hat, then steam punk one. My goal one to try is the plague doctor mask. Any other tips for a newbie foam crafter? Love your channel by the way, its well put and doesn't make you feel like you can't try it too, good job. XxX
I'd say the steampunk top hat is an easier place to start than the mini one- just because you get to glue thicker foam, and you don't have to try to convince the foam to bend in a different direction than is natural.
M Adam Hi Adam, I having been using that technique for about a year, I think the keys are to use good artists acrylic paint underneath, and when applying the Rub N Buff, make sure you have an extremely thin, even layer on your finger, and slowly build up the Rub N Buff.
Lost Wax Thanks for sharing! I'm almost out of several of my acrylic paint colours, so I'll have to look into what brands are good when I get new ones ^^.
I really love your designs and things I think I might combine you're keyhole of this design with you're steampunk top hat design. Again love your videos keep. it. up! :D
Hey Lost Wax this was a fantastic tutorial!!!! And pretty easy. Thank you so much, I may give it a try.... Because Life is starting to feel a bit ordinary. hehehe I may just wear it to work. Thank you ^-^
That's awesome thks so much i'm gonna use this to make a "decoration" hat (don't know if that means smthg i'm french sorryyyyyyy ! ) for my little brother, he just loves steampunk things and i think he's gonna love this :D i just discovered your channel and i think i'm gonna find a lot of ideas for him :DD
Dude...you are just too cool! Monique from Butterbeescraps turned me on to you and your channel and I am so glad she did. I am a new subby now and I am going to buy your pattern now. TFS!

Complimenti sono bellissimi
EMANUELE LOIACONO peccato che i progetti da scaricare costino 7 euro...
Lost Wax can you answer this question? Why do we HAVE TO pay to get a pattern?
+Maaz H Hi Maaz, I hear what you are saying, the problem is that it takes me about a month of full time work to design the patterns(which usually need a bunch of different sizes) record and edit the tutorial, and write up a complete step by step procedure that is part of the purchased pattern. Good to know you put the cereal first. 👌
You're awesome! Thank you sooo very much for this
The keyhole was a really cool detail :D.
How long have you been painting with that metal technique? Every time you show a painted project I'm floored.
M Adam Hi Adam, I having been using that technique for about a year, I think the keys are to use good artists acrylic paint underneath, and when applying the Rub N Buff, make sure you have an extremely thin, even layer on your finger, and slowly build up the Rub N Buff.
