@@chiriforever6535 Not quite true, as you can be arrested if you smoke weed on federal property within NYS/NYC, such as the portions of Gateway National Park in Staten Island. I don't smoke weed (have always disliked it), so I have no knowledge of whether this jurisdictional issue has led to actual arrests in New York, but I recall some folks being prosecuted for smoking weed on federal land in New Jersey in the not too distant past.
Plus you can't smoke weed *anywhere* in New York (such as in subway cars, stations, most restaurants, etc.), but only where you can smoke cigarettes, but folks generally know this.

very nice video, but you can't do a FHG retrospective without mentioning and showing the amazing the tennis stadium, its past glory (US tennis open host until 79, Sinatra and the Beatles played there) and its current rebirth. for another project try nearby sunnyside gardens. same garden repose in the big city concept but smaller scale, mews, not tudor revival

Hey Scott. Forest Hills was within NYC as of 1898 when all of Queens County was incorporated into what was then called Greater NY because the city boundaries were extended far beyond Manhattan/old NYC to include the other 4 boroughs. I am disappointed you got this basic NYC history wrong at the outset of your video.

You don't even need to go that far. Anywhere in suburbia with any proximity to N.Y., N.Y is experiencing a large influx of hard working people who want to have homes and children. There's building going on in every last inch of open/available space. Where are the developers, architects and designers of such quality of life projects that will be just as desirable in another 100 years and not only more low quality over priced ever changing landfill ? 🤔

@@petemavus2948 Ok, show me where place in NYC metro area that has as much empty undeveloped lane as Forest Hills had (in 1906?
This isn’t the 1930s anymore. Yeah there’s new construction of high-rises. There’s no where a Forest Hills like community of 2,000 acres of empty land to build on in NYC metro area. Unless you go 70 to 80 miles outside of NYC.

As far as completely virgin, unspoiled blank canvas land you may be correct. Yet there are many failing or already abandoned sprawling industrial, commercial and other properties which if combined could have an equally as good amount of acreage and effect if cooperatively worked toward by many sectors.
It would have to be integrated just like this community was from it's inception. There are pockets like this in most all boroughs and counties if you look closely yet probably the zoning/local red tape and bureaucracy is what prohibits cost effectiveness or doesn't encourage it.
I'm theoretically against taking more natural land when we're already wasting what we have with poor planning and lack of recycling/up cycling efforts or systems at odds with each other.

I go there almost every week. “Small bar, big drinks” is their motto. Unfortunately, the HOA is no longer allowing them to have outdoor seating in the Summer and they have not been able to get a permit to install a new flue so their legendary burgers have been off the menu for months and that has hurt their business. It’s one of the great “dive bars” in New York City.
