For everyone talking about her accent, that’s what diversity is people. Many Queens natives have accents because they come from immigrant families and such. Duh!
Thank you. Spoken like a a true NYer who realizes that not all native NYers come with perfect NY accents. Most love to criticize without bothering to think that perhaps even though I am a Queens native, (the borough of many immigrant families), that perhaps English was not my primary language. You are the first to realize this here in the comments. So thank you for your thoughtful consideration and your tolerance of people with immigrant backgrounds.
ALL NYC I gotchu girl. There’s constantly people trying to tell me I’m not from NY in my own comments and it’s laughable. Been here in Queens for 50 years, from Jamaica West Indies, Lived in South Ozone park, Carona I went to school in Flushing, worked in Elmhurst Hospital for 36 years!!
The United Nations set up an apartment complex in Briarwood for its employees. So that was where we lived while my father was with the organization. It was really a pleasant part of the city to live in and I think it remains so to this day. Being a kid of course I never paid that much attention to the addressing format. Although I adhered to it when I wrote letters to relatives. Louis Armstrong had a home in Queens within a few blocks of Jamaica Avenue. 91 neighborhoods wow! That's remarkable. I tell you what I can't wait until I come back up to the city to visit again. Thank you for your videos.
I lived in Queens Village for 6 years and worked in all 5 boroughs, Nassau, and Suffolk. Queens is definitely my favorite. And I was on the Nassau County border and all my family and friends were on LI so location wise it was perfect, right in the middle of everything.
I lived on 79 street and 31 Avenue, went to schools in Astoria, worked in Manhattan and may last address was Exeter street in forest hills, I left New York 35 years ago, I still miss it - great memories watching this video, thank you😊
Lived in Flushing briefly when on a new job in Woodside... enjoyed familiarizing myself with Queens (on foot and public transit, of course)... amazed at the density of buildings and people and how everything usually functions smoothly in spite of this. The wall of people on Main St. at rush hour in Flushing reminds me of pics of Asian population centers
Great video. I'm from the Bronx but I've worked and shopped in Astoria. Also, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd. is a fun place to hang out. I also love to hang out in Long Island City. Both areas are fantastic and are definitely up-and-coming. New York City is the best city in the world. We have so much to offer. Each borough has something great to experience. 👍

Most tourists that come to visit New York City only see Manhattan, when the other Boroughs have so much to offer, all different and all with their respecting charm about them, I now live in Orlando, Florida but if I was to be young again I would move back to Queens in a heart beat. One of the things I miss the most about Queens is the diversity of cultures, the extensive variety of exquisite restaurants, you don't need to travel the world to experience real authentic cuisines from Eastern European countries, South America, The Caribbean Islands, as well as Italian, Greek, French, Russian, etc, you name it. Queens has it all.
I have lived in Berlin and Prague, and I can tell you that most of young people (under, say, 45) are at least as familiar with Brooklyn these days as Manhattan.
I'm from Jamaica Queens, lived there my whole life until I graduated highschool and moved to Texas. It's nothing like where I'm from and I miss it deeply. This video is gold though makes me feel at home even though I'm far away. Hopefully one day I can go back to stay.
The reason why Queens uses their neighborhoods name on their postal addresses instead of "Queens, NY" is because before 1898 all the neighborhoods that now make up the Borough of Queens used to be it's own Cities and Towns or part of Cities and Towns. Long Island City was actually a "City", Flushing, Queens was "The Town of Flushing", Jamaica, Queens was "The Town of Jamaica". Just like the Borough of Brooklyn used to be "The City of Brooklyn" before 1898, which is why Brooklynites still put "Brooklyn, NY" on their postal addresses.
As someone who is from Queens, I really suggest whoever isn't from there should visit! The Pizza is great, and Chinatown is very fun to explore! although, Flushing can be a bit dangerous, so it's best to be careful There.
@@causeeffect7624 I'm fairly certain Everybody loves Raymond actually takes place in Lynbrook(Long Island), but there may have been scenes in Queens since Robert worked for the NYPD.
The part of Queens I visited and was in a relationship with someone from Guyana at the time (me visiting from California) was mostly people of Guyana, Trinidad/Tobago or similar on the A Line subway where the person lived!! I visited NY a few times too😀😀
The best view of the Manhattan skyline is from L.I.C. going into Manhattan on the 59th Street bridge. It's the most famous, most photographed, and the one you see on postcards!
USOpen in Flushing has more than 22 OUTdoor courts, not indoor. It's possible there are 11 indoor, reverse of what was said. Lots of great food is just North, into mostly Chinese Main Street , just past the Natatorium by the Home Depot. Corona Park is also home to Citi ballpark and a golf course.
Bayside, Queens, my home town, was the home of the first movie studios and was supposed to be “Hollywood”, but they decided the winters weren’t suitable for year round filming and moved it to Cali. Bayside and Little neck also sit on Little Neck Bay, a gorgeous area where you can walk, bike, picnic and take your boat from here, to Manhattan or to the Hamptons, or anywhere else you’d love to go (not that I have a boat). Also home to Fort Totten, a Civil War era fort that still houses military personnel and is incredibly cool to see, especially the cannon ball dents scattered throughout the fort. They didn’t mention Jamaica, an amazing place that you can shop til you drop and not break the bank, get top notch tattoos and find fantastic flavors of food til you bust. It is diverse, it’s what makes Queens the best place to live. It’s rich in cultures and so you can find every kind of performing art imaginable to show off the worlds best in music, drama, dance, martial arts. Not to mention the Queens Botanical Gardens in Flushing, an incredibly beautiful place amid a bustling city, easy to get lost for a day there. The down side....try affording the houses and rents. Queens is fast becoming a place where once the older generations sell their homes, you can expect to pay anywhere from 700,000 to 1 million and more for a house, and I’m not talking about a mansion or one with a giant yard. Rents are astronomical, especially close to the Long Island Railroad stops because of the ease of getting into Manhattan, Currently, in my area encompassing a 15 mile radius, you can expect to pay anywhere from 2,000 to $2,500 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment, 3 if you hit the jackpot. It’s definitely a great place to live and to visit. This video barely did it justice.
I'm from Queens Village!❤ "Queens get the Money long time no cash I'm caught up in the hustle when the guns go blast The fool retaliated so I had to think fast Pull out my heat first, he pull out his heat last…"
Scrabble? Cemeteries? Houdini's grave? How about Ella Fitzgerald? Louis Armstrong? Ethel Merman? Maria Callas (from birth to age 3)? The Flushing Remonstrance (1657) in which English settlers in the Dutch colony declared their rights to religious liberty and which later informed the Bill of Rights? And the home in which they wrote that document is still standing on Bowne Street in Flushing?
There are three great suspension bridges in Queens: the Triborough/Robert Kennedy; the Bronx Whitestone and the Throgs Neck Bridge not to mention the Unisphere, the largest globe in the world!
I was born and raised in Long Island City New York. I now live in Charlotte, NC which can't hold a candle to Queens, NY. I miss it and am coming home in the Spring of 2020. It's the greatest city in the world! I love it! I was wrong to leave it and I will never leave it again!
#5 , simplified... (A) The hyphen functions as a decimal point. (B) Queens neighborhoods have their own postal identities because they were once independent villages, except for Auburndale. I'll add #11... Queens used to be a lot bigger. The eastern 2/3 of Queens seceded in 1898 to avoid joining the merged NYC (it's now called Nassau County).
Love that about Queens. You can look at the address and know exactly where it is. Makes finding an unfamiliar address easy! A person can get lost in Brooklyn for years and never find their way out! Lol!
Jealousy cause we got it so good being so close to the ocean air it marvelous and doesn’t feel like you’re cooped up in the city. We have the benefit of being in open spaces but still close enough to see the sights people pay big bucks to see.
Grew up in Ridgewood Queens and am proud… I am first generation … it’s diverse and it’s where my whole family settled after coming over from Italy. Real feel of community and so much to see and do

@@HF-rc1tr 17 and a half years in Southern California, 16 years in El Salvador.
I love Queens, I grew up there, had a great childhood ❤
Corona was also the home of Jazz giant Louis Armstrong which offers a great tour of his home.
Born, raised and still reside in south side Jamaica, Queens at Rochdale Village
The United Nations set up an apartment complex in Briarwood for its employees. So that was where we lived while my father was with the organization. It was really a pleasant part of the city to live in and I think it remains so to this day. Being a kid of course I never paid that much attention to the addressing format. Although I adhered to it when I wrote letters to relatives. Louis Armstrong had a home in Queens within a few blocks of Jamaica Avenue. 91 neighborhoods wow! That's remarkable. I tell you what I can't wait until I come back up to the city to visit again. Thank you for your videos.
Louis Armstrong lived in on 108th Street in Corona. Now a museum.
I lived in Queens Village for 6 years and worked in all 5 boroughs, Nassau, and Suffolk. Queens is definitely my favorite. And I was on the Nassau County border and all my family and friends were on LI so location wise it was perfect, right in the middle of everything.
Where do you find a woman fit for a King "Queens"...... Coming to America movie
N. East Queens,Most ponds in the USA ,start with Alley pond park.Work way North near QB Community college into Bayside and Douglaston.
What happen to Far Rockaway?
True.its always forgotten
@@terrell7184 agreed
Its still there
Love your videos. Very informative amd educational. Keep the videos of NYC coming. 👍🙋♂️
Thank you.
Proud to be a queens native, born and raised never left
I lived on 79 street and 31 Avenue, went to schools in Astoria, worked in Manhattan and may last address was Exeter street in forest hills, I left New York 35 years ago, I still miss it - great memories watching this video, thank you😊
Thank you.
This is home to the movie “coming to America!!”
itsAmmie it's where Eddie Murphy came to find his Queen.
And Spiderman
My Queen lives in South Bronx
His Mama called him clay ima call him clay
Actually parts of it were shot in Brooklyn.
Interesting info about NYC thanks for sharing
Queens girl here.. my home🇺🇸❤️🥰
likewise! 😎
Same here👋
Lived in Flushing briefly when on a new job in Woodside... enjoyed familiarizing myself with Queens (on foot and public transit, of course)... amazed at the density of buildings and people and how everything usually functions smoothly in spite of this.
@@qjtvaddict Hey! Mr. qjtvaddict. I hope that you get over your "qjtvaddiction" to ignorance. It'll probably take some time but you can do it. Hang in there buddy. 😂
I am from Queens. My Mom,Dad and i lived with my Grandma.I grew up in Woodside. When i got older we moved way out on Long Iland.I keep pictures of my Grandmas house and photo of apartment Building were i grew up.
My Hometown Borough...........Miss Home a lot (Queens Village)
I love my borough
We have the best
Women hands down
💯💪🏿💯....south side til I die✌🏿
I'm from Jamaica Queens, lived there my whole life until I graduated highschool and moved to Texas. It's nothing like where I'm from and I miss it deeply. This video is gold though makes me feel at home even though I'm far away. Hopefully one day I can go back to stay.
Okay but the FLEX with the famous people got me beyond weak 🤣😂🤣
a funny and delightfully cheerful presentation of queens, ny! hooray, queens!
Just like the Borough of Brooklyn used to be "The City of Brooklyn" before 1898, which is why Brooklynites still put "Brooklyn, NY" on their postal addresses.
saint albans queens housed a lot of musicians and artists during the harlem renaissance
💯💯💯💯

The Ramones were from Queens 🙏
The Museum of the Moving Image has hosted many wonderful exhibitions. Queens is also the birthplace of Martha’s Bakery.
Home to, Ft. Totten, a n historical fort. Walt Whitman, ad N.Y. Mets baseball team.
As someone who is from Queens, I really suggest whoever isn't from there should visit! The Pizza is great, and Chinatown is very fun to explore! although, Flushing can be a bit dangerous, so it's best to be careful There.
What about queens village? Whitestone ? Flushing ?
Julio Suboch no worries, she’ll probably make part 2.👌🏾
Archie & Edith Bunker Lived In Queens & George Jefferson & "Ugly Betty", & "King Of Queens"...All Shows From Queens.
Yeah but KING OF QUEENS have alot of phony Queens scenes though.
everybody loves raymond...
Seinfeld.....
Ghost, Tasha, Angie & Tommy from Power! 🤣
I visited NY a few times too😀😀
Best place to live in NYC. Best of all worlds.
The best view of the Manhattan skyline is from L.I.C. going into Manhattan on the 59th Street bridge. It's the most famous, most photographed, and the one you see on postcards!
I grew up in north Jersey and now live in North Carolina but always loved Queens for trips to Shea stadium with my dad to watch my beloved METS👍‼️
The Nanny, and The King of Queens is how I first came to know about Queens
Your forgot Farrockaway !
I'm from Queens Village!❤
"Queens get the Money long time no cash
I'm caught up in the hustle when the guns go blast
The fool retaliated so I had to think fast
Pull out my heat first, he pull out his heat last…"
I love how i recognize every single picture the video has , I’m proud to say I’m part of queens!
Do people in NYC pronounce borough as if they want to borrow something from someone? I thought it was like burrow into the ground.
Scrabble?
Houdini's grave is in my neighborhood and I believed he lived there for sometime.
Ridgewood Queens
Thanks I'll check that out
Where did you find the Postal Carrier in the Pony Express Postal Department uniform???
Lol!
I grew up so close to the church where they have the scrabble street sign. I dont think I really noticed that it has the scrabble numbers on it.
I was born and raised in the south Bronx I now live in Queens and it's been 10 years I have to admit I love queens I now am glad I call Queens home.
Try being raised in the Rockaways, witch the rest of Queens will not acknowledge. Iloved the video.
Trevor Dantzler 🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯💯
Jealousy cause we got it so good being so close to the ocean air it marvelous and doesn’t feel like you’re cooped up in the city. We have the benefit of being in open spaces but still close enough to see the sights people pay big bucks to see.
Lol
Far Rockaway... The real South Queens
Grew up in Ridgewood Queens and am proud… I am first generation … it’s diverse and it’s where my whole family settled after coming over from Italy. Real feel of community and so much to see and do
Grew up in ridge wood too
Home to probably the best German Restaurant in NYC: Zum Stammtisch Restaurant, located on Myrtle Avenue in Glendale. I used to drive there from Flushing.
*clicks off bc you didn’t mention jamaica*
lol
And she sounds west Indian. That's probably why she stated its not tough enough. Jamaica represents the grity side of QB.

Yes, she did. 7:11 she mentioned Donald Trump is from Jamaica Estates. LOL

Interesting thing on the address format! I was always wondering that. It seems other cities in Europe and other parts of the world do something similar.
I actually attended school and was in the same class as Nasir Jones, or Nas. Lived in L.I.C a few blocks from him. I drove limo for many years and can say Queens to me is probably the most beautiful boro followed by the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan last just because it's a concrete jungle.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn but I love Queens. Queens is my favorite borough'
I spent the first five years of my life in Woodside. I was born in Astoria, in the same hospital as Christopher Walken. My parents and grandparents used to shop at Walken's Bakery.
Me too! Astoria general and left woodside in 1964 when i was 8...so glad my whole block did back then!
