Ajax is such an unusual mountain. Great history, but overshadowed by the glitz and glam. Good terrain, but inconsistent conditions. Great views, but weird lift arrangement. Small, but steep. Narrow but tall. Contradictions everywhere.
Even with all of its quirks, Ajax is still my personal favorite of the 4 Aspen mountains. The terrain there is just so much fun and riding into town is always such a cool feeling!
I think your take on the lower half of the mountain is quite off base. You dont mention any of the travereses that are the key to linking up runs for the mega gondola laps. Jim Crown is rolling in his grave hearing you be negative about jackpot, niagra and norway.
@@SRGSkiing Yankee stadium, jimmy buffet, Marlyn Monroe and the others are not obvious at all and are essential to the mega linkups that make the mountain great. While I appreciate the positive press for one of the most underrated gondola laps in the country, I couldn't disagree more with a lot of your opinions.
As an Aspen local kid that grew up there, I think you nailed it! The entire mountain. Very accurate.
Jealous as hell, that sounds like an awesome life!

Highlands and Ajax are enough for a whole trip.
@@RD1R 100% agree!
Thanks for the info. Working on a review for the mountain now.
Don't use our satire as a basis for a review 😂
@SRGSkiing I'm not making any promises!
👍👍 to Ajax. -2003 single visit. Charismatic mountain 😊

I mean, the traverses seem pretty obvious, not something that you'd need to be told ahead of time
