Lake Louise every time for me, can't stand Sunshine.
Do I need to make a reservartion before going?
Nope! They're limited by parking, so make sure you're there early enough to be able to get a spot and you'll be fine!
nerd
🤓
If you do plan on going to Eldora, just be aware that if you show up late on a peak day (past 9:00am) the parking lot might be full and you'll be turned around. This happened to me last year.
Been to all except a few of the small ones and I’d say that was a solid review. Wolf and CB are my special places but I love me some Beaver too.😆
Could you make a video about chairlifts vs gondolas vs telemex vs trams and any other kinds in regards to capacity and what works or doesn’t work where? Ajax will soon have a 40+ year old gondola that breaks frequently and a friggin telemex as the out of base options, stupid I think. And maybe how adding more chairs to an existing line can increase capacity but reduce load time. Or just a vid about cool lifts like 7th heaven at stevens pass or old loge peak at highlands. Basically more chairlift content please, you are the all knowing encyclopedia. Thanks for all the videos it has been cool to watch you grow
Wow, now this is a throwback! Haven't had a comment on here for a while. We're going to be remaking this video in May with way more detail. Thank you for all of those suggestions-they'll be considered when we script that video!
@ yeah I’m going down a tram rabbit hole so I stumbled on this. Look forward to seeing the new video but please you gotta at least do one on cool or unique lifts. 7th heaven being wild, kachina peak being wild, the single at mad river being a single, Ruthie’s being a detachable triple etc. One of your Friday trivia’s was just about a lift I think and it was cool. You know your stuff. Thanks for reading my Ted talk
Galaxy is one of my faves at Heavenly! A long lift but such good runs to it.
Shalako pronounced like Shall I find a co-star. Shall-a- Ko. Sorry but it is an awesome name and an awesome hill. Treskow Ridge is among my favorites here off the top of the shoulder.
Tahoe sucks so bad FR
Most overrated ski area in the world!!!
if south NM ever has good snow, you really need to go to Ski Apache. the more snow the less people go, because most of the clientele are from Mexico. but its rare for apache to get good snow, and you would have to deal with the infrastructure issue.... and the bad attitude of the natives, which is not unwarranted because most of the customers are rich Mexican nationals that are assholes. I would personally on my own die take myself out there and show all the best stuff to do.
American problem. dont want to know.
Fair 😂
last year was a terrible winter.
Aspen, Aspen Highlands, and even Buttermilk, hardly ever have lifelines. The people that go there are there to say they "took a trip to Aspen", not to ski.
You sound real fun at party’s. If you think this is bad go ski the east coast. How about being thankful for the mountain and quit bitching. There’s Jerry’s everywhere. It’s 2025
I did go to the east coast, those vids will come soon 😂
@ I get this isn’t logistically the smartest layout for keystone but this is 10x better compared to the best resorts on the east coast
Oh no doubt about it 😂
Mate, off to Ajax today, this is incredibly useful. Really practical really granular stuff. I’ll still go to powderhounds and peak rankings for choosing resorts but on the day, when I’m actually thinking about which pistes etc, this is the best product on TH-cam, I have skiied a bunch and this is honestly the best pre-day video ever. Keep up the great work!
Love when you show b-roll of the trail being skied in the background when you talk about runs. Really helps visualize the mountain!
I lived, worked and SKIED in Vail from '72-'92. I have NOT skied there since. Vail Resorts is ruining the industry. People that go there are contributing to the downfall. FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS SKI VAIL! T-DOWN.
Wow the main base layout kinda sucks, i’m surprised they need so many feeder lifts to reach the main pods
Yeah, it's a very poor layout
My home! Absolutely love this mt
you should make a video deticated to april/spring
We have one for Colorado! Probably not gonna be able to make one for the east for a while, unfortunately
You've gone east! Is everything okay? Do you need rescue?
I might 😂
Okemo is an intermediate's paradise. You can wander aimlessly all day and not get caught up somewhere way above your ability level. I was there for 3 days and still didn't discover everything it had to offer.
Moral of the story: if your anything above a beginner just go to killington.
I would make the argument that Okemo is solid for intermediates
W guide, I liked and subbed
❤️
You forgot that Keystone gets the least amount of snow of all the resorts in the area. Mozart is seriously the iciest run in Colorado.
Live nearby and ski it 90% of the time. Just gotta go M-F and no holidays. I do fast laps off Mercury chair or go to 6 for good leftover pow in many spots and ass haulers down the ridge:) Whale’s Tail and Horseshoe Bowl are really fun on pow days too. Beats Keystone IMO, no ikon anymore for Copper or Abay, and Vail and Beaver too far most of the time, especially with any weather (🤬I-70😆). Breck def sucks in a lot of ways but still beats workin:)
If you are skiing just by yourself, Tuen of the River lodge in Killington 30 minutes away is a cheap place to stay if you are fine sleeping in dorm room in the basement.
If you’re already there might as well just go to killington
Or, if you can, hit both!
Mr moneybags over here with both epic and ikon 🔥🔥🔥
Hey, like I said, if you can
Love Okemo. Great review. There are a lot hidden glade runs
W
YES IVE SKIIED THERE FOR TEN YEARS ITS SO GOOD
Great local hill for all the reasons you stated. Can also be a good time for advanced skiiers with a fun group. The old lodge burned down a number of years ago, which is too bad, because that place was a vibe.
What about the parallel high speed quad
Closed. Been down since midday Saturday.
I was there as a "ski bum" from '72-'92. I left and have never been back. FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS SKI VAIL.
Snowy range?
Bingo!

We're going to cooper this year. Never been there before excited to give it a try.
cooper or copper? Very different
@chaneystcgstore4692 cooper in leadville, CO
Hesperus's chairlift is broken and the area is closed this year 💀
Was not expecting a keystone shoutout
It's a running joke on the channel 😂
Amazing videos, thank you so much. Really helps me with planning my solo trip in March. What is the best way down to zermatt at the end of the day for a snowboarder?
It really depends on which part of the mountain you're on. If at Sunegga, you're only options are the #1/#3 and #2/#2a pistes, of which I find #1/#3 is a bit more direct and involves less cat-walking (even if it is a bit congested). However, I'd just recommend downloading the Funicular because both trails get crazy busy and congested which can be bad for speed retention if you get stuck behind someone slow. If on Gornergrath, then #39->#41->#42 is excellent, but you'll then have to ride up the gondola to Furi and then either download from there, or take the #50 trail which is very flat at the bottom. From Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the #62 trail is your best option and is rated black so speed retention is not an issue. It'll bring you to Furi where you'll have the option we discussed above of either downloading or riding #50 which does get flat (so I'd recommend downloading, you're not missing a whole bunch). Kind of a long answer, but hopefully that provides some clarification.
@@SRGSkiingthanks so much for the detailed reply. Downloading seems to make the most sense after a long day. I was thinking about afterski on the mountain but I’ll just find an afternoon party on the slopes and head down before the lifts stop running
So you got an icon pass and you skied in Zermatt? And now you’re an insider, that’s rich.
Along with intensive skiing of every piste and lots of off-piste areas, long pages of notes and inferences, and visits to all major on-mountain facilities, we do an untold amount of external research, including but not limited to asking locals questions, reading mountain histories, and comparing logistical trends to those of the other ski areas we've studied for the last decade
@@SRGSkiing your oldest video is three years old, not decades.
Just because we didn't start making videos doesn't mean we haven't been taking a deeper look at resorts for all that time. One of my favorite skiing memories was sitting down with Arapahoe Basin's COO Al Henceroth and discussing logistics just purely out of curiosity. That happened well before I ever made a video. The average skier does not do that, and the insights we've gained from experiences such as that allow us to efficiently cover mountains while still providing the detail and accuracy that a 5-year local could provide. We are sure to do everything we can in our power to make it as authentic as possible, but if we actually spent 5 seasons at each mountain to become what appears to be your definition of an "insider," this channel would not exist, and the thousands of people we have helped wouldn't have known how to avoid lift lines, cat tracks, etc, at some of the world's premier ski destinations. The definition of an insider is subjective, of course, but to many, an insider is simply someone who has insights into something that the general public doesn't. While the numbers may not indicate we have those insights, our skiing style, diligence, and UNTOLD experience from the last decade of observing, interviewing, note-taking, and discussing ski resorts allows us to come up with certain insights that your average skier would not. And after all that, despite the occasional mistake, the content does speak for itself, telling people things about mountains they would have never known otherwise.
@@SRGSkiing your in college or barely out of college, no provenance.
If you really care, you're more than welcome to email us and we can set up a time to chat about our process and credentials. Otherwise, agree to disagree
Copper blows Breck OUT OF THE WATER
What makes you say that?
@ Breck is windy, icy and it has so many cat trails that you never quite feel like you got to where you wanted to be. Getting around the mountain is hard. A lot of bro brah attitude, crowded, not the same skier vibe as Copper. Breck is all Vailed up.
Ah, fair enough 😂
U went right over my head you sarcastic SOB, lol
lol I remember the first time I found the creek in the woods off bachelor! There’s a spot with a natural downslope and kicker that you can use to jump over, it makes the crossing much less sketchy.
this guy really hates anyone who has touched a box damn bro
Boxes hate my hips 😂
Great series!
You are so right about the ice
does anyone know a ski instructor for private lessons
Private lessons can be booked directly through the ski resort's website
