Right! I have my cousin's dog who was given to her father then ended up with me. They beat him and left him in a crate and when they moved they left him in an apartment by himself for a week until the lease was up. He is a good dog BUT, screaming BUT, you must mind your hands with him or he will attack you. Luckily, I can read his body language, his face, his ears, and I give him vocal cues I'm about to put my hands on him. Let him lick my hand first always or he can snap.

That's pretty ignorant dont you think?? As a certified dog trainer who goes all over the country rehabilitating aggressive dogs I meet so many prejudice people like you. More dogs are put down a DAY because of a aggression problem then any other kind, and it's because people spreading this viewpoint believe that they cant be helped. I guarantee you that with the work I do theres no case too tough for me, but it does take time and it isnt all positive reinforcement. If you're actually curious (which I dont think you are) I'd be happy to point you in the direction of some of the articles I frequently give to people who want to judge me without researching the entirety of the argument first.

+Jesse MacDonough-The compulsion disorder certainly wouldn't have escalated to such a dangerous point had they kept him on a strict exercise routine. He would still be having problems from it, and they wouldn't be sure what was wrong with him, but it also wouldn't have gotten to the point where he was frequently biting the family as much as he was. With the dog locked away downstairs for long periods of time, and no way to go outside and just enjoy a good life, he was also locked in hard to that compulsion disorder. Anxiety and boredom escalated that disorder and made it run rampant. Not all of it could've been avoided had the family just let him get exercise, but it would have alleviated a lot of what they were suffering through.
They allowed Rocky to get to that point to where Dodman wasn't even sure there was even anything he could do for Rocky. If they allowed for the problem to continue for far longer, it probably would've been too late to do anything for Rocky. Victoria probably came in at just the right time where anything could be done to help him. And all that was needed for him to get better, was just to let him run around for awhile and be a dog. He was already far happier to be doing that.

Its hard because in a dog park he wouldn't run he didn't like playing with boisterous dogs and was often intimidated. He liked running with 1 or 2 dogs if it was just a game of chase, but enjoyed running around people on his own too.

@@midwestbambi Caesar's way works for a little while by suppressing the problem, but cause more problems in the long run :( you have to get to the root of the problem, which is NOT dominance or anything to do with "alpha" type stuff 99% of the time. Caesar uses pins and "alpha rolls" which not just anybody can do with just any dog, first of all, and second of all, that aggression can be redirected onto the owner because they are the ones now causing the fear and distress. It's scary to the dog for you to do that to them, and if you don't listen to their warnings, they WILL bite, even their owner. Caesar also uses a process called "flooding", where basically he exposes the dog to the thing that causes a bad reaction in them (usually due to fear) and eventually they just shut down and stop reacting. They're still terrified of the thing that caused the problem, but now they've learned that trying to communicate to us that they're afraid or upset is just going to fall on deaf ears, so they just shut down and do nothing. It doesn't fix the problem. It's like putting someone who's terrified of spiders in a room full of spiders. Eventually they might curl up in the corner and stop screaming, but that doesn't mean they're not still afraid--there's just nothing else they can do.
Positive reinforcement is so much gentler on owner and dog, and gets results almost as quickly but with less biting or fear. I feel like anyone with any sort of love for animals and even a little common sense could look at the two methods and figure out that one is much better in the long run than the other :)

Caesar fights aggression with aggression, and fear with fear and even more aggression. I have watched his show, I know what he does. I used his methods at first with my dog and almost RUINED our relationship. His methods get people bit and traumatize dogs.

We hardly have a peep out of her at night because she's exhausted but happy and so obedient that we were able to train her to go on the lead within days of having her (she's a rescue and was abused, never had a collar or lead on her until we got her) She's brilliant off lead, moves to the side and sits for cars or bikes along the road and is always looking back to see if we're coming, if we're too far behind her she comes hurtling back at full speed!!

I had a pittie and I had developed some medical issues and couldn’t walk her everyday but she was fine with that as long as she was walked a few times a week. Then I’ve known pitties who needed walked every single day multiple times. Mine was just a laid back dog who would do whatever you were doing. She sensed my panic attacks before I even got one and has completely prevented them before. There’s been days I was in so much pain I could barely move and she laid right next to me most of the day. She didn’t mind and she was well behaved. It all depends on the dogs personality not necessarily the breed and I was just lucky enough to get a laid back dog who was happy doing whatever you were and just being with you.

We made sure she was socially adjusted as soon as we brought her home, and of course she had all of the cute puppy quirks that were fun. Also, a trainer one to two times a week was a huge bonus. We learned from our first wheaten that the breeder makes a huge difference and I mean huge. Our first wheaten was “the dog that no one wants”. She was also the sweetest dog I had ever met. The second breeder interviewed us before she would even put us on her wait list. We had to stay overnight when we went to get her as the drive was 8 hours in each direction.
She sees the vet once a year for her checkups as compared to once every 3 weeks as something new was wrong with her.

My heart goes to this poor dog. I was very negatively influenced by my environment as a child too. It's very sad that in different circumstances both mine and his lives could turn out to be better and healthier. Unfortunately Rocky can't provide for himself - the only hope is that the owners will take a better care of him than they did in the past.

That expert veterinarian that diagnosed the dog, was the first I ever heard mention puppy mills on the show (the reason might be genetic factors, a puppy mill / pet shop situation. But it must not manifest. But if stress, unhealthy situations are added it can show up in the dog).

How can they say, I really feel sorry for him, but never take care of the dog??? No, you don't feel sorry for him. Give him to someone who will care for him.

@@Diana-te5vy yea, have had to make the decision for my siblings, I don't have kids but if the instinct was that strong to protect the little ones I can only imagine how I'd feel about my children. It feels primal and very strong

Can I just point out that Victoria is a prime example of healthy leader !! She could easily be a "know-it-all" and have her ego go above and beyond however she always actually just does her job in such a prestine manner and her job is the wellfare of the dogs and so if she has a case that is beyond her capabilities, she gets in the special experts that are just as good at their jobs as she is at her ! I don't think people understand how much this small fact should be appreciate it !
