This man is sheer unspeakable unbelievable genius. Not a square inch of paper in front of him which means he has the entire Concerto in his head. That is not only the piano solo but the other parts too.
For me, this is Beethoven’s best piano concerto. Whether you think this performance to be your favourite or not is irrelevant, you simply have to admire Barenboim for the enormous contribution he has made to the World of so-called Classical music, which is probably incomparable.
In my opinion many of the self proclaimed experts commenting on Barenboim are missing the whole point. Surely as you did not compose this beautiful music can you just listen and enjoy the beauty of Beethoven and stop trying to impress us with nonsensical comments. Go and write your own music and see how much the world appreciates your best effort. With kindness!
I agree with you! I find it ridiculous that comments on the many classical music performances on YTube are typically "the best performance of X I've ever heard" followed by someone else's comment "that was rubbish". Unless you're up there on the stage yourself, or composing music that major orchestras are playing, extremely negative comments are unjustified, as far as I'm concerned.
Well, it's not really our merit. Let's just thank the divine being or sheer luck or whatever created Beethoven to gift the world with such an outstanding composer.
I'm going to tell my kids that when I develop Alzheimers, I want Beethoven played to me all day so that I'll be repeatedly hearing this magnificence for the first time. Perhaps there's an upside to everything!
The melody of the 2nd movement (Largo) is one of my all time favorites in classical music. I love the sublime blending of the piano, orchestra and woodwinds. Barenboim achieves unparalelled perfection while enjoying it. The clarinet, bassoon and percussion are awesome. Extraordinary series. Pedro Inflante
Mr. Barenboim is considered to be one of the few Reliable Performer Beethoven. The phrases of shiny, colored and full, without being bored to listen to him! The orchestra's excellent!
He s great playing definetly....but did you hear the young Pollini with Böhm? But maybe thats unfair....Pollini is a Piano specialist...Barenboim is merely a conductor. But sure, considering this, he plays fantastic
thanks. beautiful concerto and video. Beethoven's music is so emotional. when I listen to Barenboim, I ve also a thought (sadness) for Jacqueline DUPRE...
@Diogenes69 Wesley I don' t think so... both are quite and extraordinary different styles... in my very single opinion Bach could be the number one... it 's just my opinion, I must insist.
Beethoven's personality possessed a tremendous magical property: to be sometimes a "lamb", and sometimes a "Lion." This is felt in all his piano concerts. He who experiences this ,Fills his soul with the same very important qualities that we once lost. !!! Tepper Michael.
!!! Tepper Michael.
If Beethoven himself was conducting at the piano I wonder if those who disliked this proformance would be satisfied,I love fact we all enjoy different interpretation, but to dislike this amazing rendition just doesn't make sense to me.
Very interesting cadenza, mainly Barenboim's, I think, though near the end it has elements of all the 3 original ones that Beethoven lavished n this movement.
Bach angedeutet !!! Tepper Michael.
Randy wind instruments, I think you mean, yes? Actually agree with you. Why have both oboists grown moustaches? Gérard Hoffnung would have had a lot of fun with this ensemble.
EuroArtsChannel All that modern contemporary music, including every style we have, was born on 27 January 1756. Beethoven is one of the best disciples of Amadeus.
Bravo Maestro !!!
Fortunately, it's obviously been reposted in its entirety. Originally, abt 5 yrs ago, all 5 concertos in this series were on YTube in their entirety, then 2 yrs later, just 2-3 min. "clips" from each replaced the full performances...probably some copyright/$ issue. Now perhaps they've all been restored, I HOPE!
As a matter of interest, has anyone ever seen him playing or conducting using music? I have, once, when he was playing a duet with another man (can't remember who or what or when).

Yes, he is! No wonder he knows ALL parts of ALL Beethoven's piano concertos!
Also worth watching: Buchbinder with the VPO.
For me, this is Beethoven’s best piano concerto. Whether you think this performance to be your favourite or not is irrelevant, you simply have to admire Barenboim for the enormous contribution he has made to the World of so-called Classical music, which is probably incomparable.
Well said!

I dedicate this to my beautiful Dalmatian, Cello who has just passed away. Beautiful, elegant and soulful like her. See you in heaven my darling girl.
I just lost my cat. I know how you felt a year ago. Hope you've gotten over the loss by now. I'm still grieving.
Qué placer disfrutar este Concierto...

Thank you Beethoven, thank you Germany for having such a great composer !!!

STUNNING!!!
Well considering music is the last thing to go with this disease you will remain happy indeed!
SO much more satisfying to listen AND watch the music being created by these gifted musicians!

I think Daniel is a generation of Beethoven for its beautiful conducting and piano almost like Beethoven
Every time we hear Beethoven, we can forget, at least for a while, our own worries, and the world ' s meannes
I love this Bethoven's Piano Concert & Daniel Baremboin is extraordinary & the Orchestra. Thanks for posting.
Mr. Barenboim is considered to be one of the few Reliable Performer Beethoven. The phrases of shiny, colored and full, without being bored to listen to him! The orchestra's excellent!

At 16.35 around Barenboim did his own music for a few seconds shortly before end of first act. Did you hear what i mean? Funny.
Thank you, thank you all!!!
Daniel Barenboim is really great, artistically and human! He always will spent peace in Middle East.
Just on a side note: I'm sure you meant: spread peace.
Beautiful by Barenboim.
Barenboim is the dogs bollocks. The world would be fine if it was populated with people like him. Gawd bless yer mate
thanks. beautiful concerto and video. Beethoven's music is so emotional.
when I listen to Barenboim, I ve also a thought (sadness) for Jacqueline DUPRE...
the largo so beautiful my god i love Beethoven's music. he was exceptionally the No 1 musician of all times indeed.
@Diogenes69 Wesley I don' t think so... both are quite and extraordinary different styles... in my very single opinion Bach could be the number one... it 's just my opinion, I must insist.
@Diogenes69 Wesley I'd say Chopin is the best .Opinion
@@pianoa226 Both wrong, objectively Beethoven, Mendelsshon, Wagner were the true greats
Superb playing! No words!

This is so true. The Gods & muses blessed the master LvB.

Beautiful playing by orchestra and soloist!
Daniel and the orchestra should play more concertos. It is too good!
Bravo, Beethoven, and bravo, Barenboim! Keep up the good work!
Imagine him tickling my feet. I would laugh and then faint in 15 seconds. Hands are so fast!
Very inspired Pianist and Conductor!..Bravo.

They dislike it because they're Beiber fans.
Baremboim's cadenza int first movement? Wow! :-)
Let's agree, maestro Barenboim is one of our greatest, highly gifted musicians.
Excelente
My fave Beethoven concerto
Daniel is the composer and player of music of melody.
Enig mooie uitvoering !!! Dank !
Maestro Barenboim vive di Beethoven, sono DIVINI

i love it...simply that!!
That's why! Great things come to you because you can feel them ... anyone can feel that Bach and Beethoven are more than pure ratio ...
beethoven was knew so well how to compose / write very stirring nostalgic , chord music / chord combinations .
Who is the author of the cadenza in 1st mov? Barenboim itself?
Great performance !
as usual Barenboim play in super professional way !!!!!!!!!
Lovely warm evening, clearly. Everyone in shirtsleeves except the people doing the actual work
How many pianists play every time exactly the same? No musical score in front of Barenboim. Fantastic!
Magia!!
Very interesting cadenza, mainly Barenboim's, I think, though near the end it has elements of all the 3 original ones that Beethoven lavished n this movement.
Absolutely bloody marvellous

Randy wind instruments, I think you mean, yes?

precioso concierto

What on earth were you thinking about cutting the full version to 16 min???? How could you do that to me?? Where is the full version??
Fortunately, it's obviously been reposted in its entirety. Originally, abt 5 yrs ago, all 5 concertos in this series were on YTube in their entirety, then 2 yrs later, just 2-3 min. Lovely cadenza of the first mov:I prefer this one than the usual one played by other pianists. Is this cadenza from beethoven himself?
Hear Maurizio Pollini with Böhm....you definetly will enjoy
maravilloso
Bravo!!!
D. Barenboim blijft een wonder!
Exquisito y magistrál
Like, only for Barenboim
great concerto
Great, thanks, but who wrote the cadenza?????
ZackGasse pretty sure Barenboim
Needs to retitled: EuroFckingAdsChannel!!
NO ME CANSOI DE ESCUCHARLO Y SENTIRLO
talented fella all things considered.
Great 👍!
As a matter of interest, has anyone ever seen him playing or conducting using music? I have, once, when he was playing a duet with another man (can't remember who or what or when).
With Lang Lang in Mozart four hand piece. Saw it this am. 😀
Buon Natale!!
Where did a whole concerto disappear?
