Nerve plants! I have 2 fittonias that were in a north window and were just limping along for months. I gave up on them, put them on a kitchen counter which gets no light, and was ready to throw them away. Within days, the plants rallied. It's been around 6 weeks now and the dumb things are growing new leaves. And they don't really like to be watered, either. If you have a dead spot and want to perk it up, try a fittonia.

There's 6+ ZZ plant varieties, aglaonema 100+ varieties, dracaena hawaiian or frans, most snake plants, most pothos.
Mass cane dracaena, ficus species, and white snake plant doesn't do well low light

Thank you so much for confirming that I can get the begonia maculata wightii for my north window! I really wanted one but avoided it because I didn’t think I had enough light. Yay! 😃

5:20 I believe it’s a syngonium white butterfly. I have one and it’s my favorite plant!

Just moved and went from south to north facing windows and it’s crazy the difference in sunlight. Didn’t know how spoiled I was

Also since I now have northern windows do you think a syngonium albo would be okay in one?

    • @GoodandPlanty

i would monitor it! there’s potential for it to revert or decrease in variegation so just keep an eye on it 🌿

I have a lemon button fern, pilea peperomides, zz plant, and baby rubber plant directly on my northern windowsills and a pothos, coffee plant, and snake plant within a couple feet of those windows, and they're all growing really well! My pilea has grown more in a sunnier spot but seems fine in the northern window, and the rubber plant, pothos, and lemon button fern have grown like CRAZY this summer. I have a little bit of room left for more plants so I want to try one of these! Thanks for the recommendations!

Great topic. At least I'm doing the right thing, lol. Thanks to you my Peace Lily is doing great. I now have to cut the flowering part because they're starting to turn brown.

My calathea white star was in a northeast facing window but pulled back a couple of feet. It started loosing its pink tinge so I pulled it back even more. It’s a good 5-6 feet away from the window and now it’s finally happy. I don’t recommend doing this with every calathea, just try to figure out what your plant enjoys.

I guess I should pull mine back from the window to get more pink. Thank you 🙏🏻

    • @julieannelovesbooks
      @julieannelovesbooks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@dianahartley-kim7109 yes! The sun bleaches the pink out of the leaves. But it’s not damaged or anything, just give it less light, no direct sun and the pink will return!

@@GoodandPlanty I’m sure you could handle one tho. I got mine for 7 dollars in pretty good condition! It’s just really fussy with water and humidity.

Good call on the begonia maculata! I think it's a PERFECT plant for a northern window that's also a really unique looking and vibrant plant! I have mine in a North facing as well and it really gives that part of the house a nice splash of color and fun, cuz everything else in that area is just plain green😁👍

My Phylodendron brazil is placed on the windowsill of a north facing window and I noticed the new leaves are much lighter in color than the previous ones, that meaning the new leaves look more similar to the standard color than the older ones. Can’t really explain why, but this windowsill (it’s in our bedroom) is perfect during the whole growing season. It’s the only one where no plant was sunburnt.

Great subject! I've been struggling with trying some of my plants in north facing window although I do supplement with grow lights occasionally. If using grow lights is it imperative that you use them on a regular daily schedule? I kind of move mine around from day to day & had been wondering.

syngonium!! lots of variety, flexibility, and they range in difficulty level (berry allusion for example is very easy while rayii is a bit harder). there’s something for everyone :)
