I’ve had the tamron in my wedding kit since the gen 1 first came out, and since I also used the 24-70 at my corporate job. Even though I have access to both of these lenses I almost always gravitate towards the tamron not only because of its lightweight and ergonomics w/ Sony body, but the filter size of 67mm is pretty much compatible with most of my other lenses (24mm, 35mm, 85mm).

I agree I lost my confidence on the Sigma after getting a ton of “Dusty Nuts!” Compared to my old Tamron 28-75 G1 made with “Vietcong Flip flops” was better at Dust and weather resistance and lighter too for travel. I took that vietcong Tamron all over the world with zero issues. I hear the G2 is even better, sharper even compared to the Sigma? Thanks Vu for the review, I recently sold my Sigma Dusty Nuts and upgraded to the Tamron 35-150 after watching your videos.

Hello, Sigma fixed the dust issue and your lens can be replaced with a new one! Just check your lens serial number. New Sigma 24-70 lenses (with dust protection) have serial number higher than 5504xxxx. I`ve had same dust issue and my 24-70 lens also have been replaced. Good luck!

I'm a videographer. I love the transparency of your videos. And this videos is exactly what I was looking for, but I still feel like missing some information. I'm in between the SIGMA 28-70 and the TAMRON 28-75 G2. My other sigma's have been great (both of them prime lenses). And since I saw your video I became concerned bout the dust problem. I trust sigma auto-focus and video quality. But since the 28-70 is not weather-sealed (except for just one little part), and the Tamron is apparently completely sealed, the I only need to know bout the difference in autofocus. As I said, I'm a videographer, I film tons of concerts, clubs, weddings, videoclips, and one of the main reasons I'm buying a zoom lens is to be able to have the "punch-in" effect, a fast zoom in or out (even in low light situations). So that's why autofocus is so relevant to me. Could you give me some advice? Thanks mate!

I’ve watched some tutorials on how to clean the inside of that sigma lens, if you’re interested they’re on TH-cam. Im okay so far with out dust in mine, apparently mine was made after they updated it, but for all I know it’s still subject to dusting later on. Good review, I always like your opinions on gear. Seems most people doing the reviews only use camera gear to make videos on other camera gear vs someone like you who actually produces videos for paying clients. I’m sure I could of written that better, but is what it is. Thanks for the review.

Dude you and me are alike. I said the same thing DN aka DEEZ NUTS lol. I of lucky so far I haven’t had any dust in my sigma 28-70. I have been really happy with it. I am not brand loyal, I try out lenses and if the perform well I keep them. I like how light sharp and quiet it is. But I have the tamron 70-180 and it’s a great lens. So I figured the tamron 28-75 was a good option but I was liking how well the sigma 105 f1.4 did on my a7riv so I gave the sigma 28-70 a try and been loving it. Great video thanks for sharing

Hi there, I would like to share my experience on the matter. I’m on an a7riv with the most demanding sensor on the market paired with a sigma 24-70 for about a year in many projects and different scenarios and recently I switched to the version 2 of the Tamron mostly because of weight but also I didn’t had the chance to try even the version 1 before but hearing all that great stuff about it.
So….. I agree it’s a great lens and surely you can’t go wrong with it. In terms of weight no comments the numbers speak for themselves. But although I enjoy the differences in other areas I missed that slight iq difference from day one and never got over it (always speaking on the a7riv).
Lastly i had a theoretically newer sigma with the dust issue fixed as the say according to the serial number and for one year of normal use the lens was absolutely fine except one or two very small. Finally I’m thinking on switching back again as the pace of the “dust issue” isn’t comparable with the resolving difference. Thanks for your time on making the video. Cheers

i appreciate the honesty. i wish more reviewers and YT d-bags would be more upfront about the sigma because none of the reviews I saw from the pro users mention sigma dust issues. I wouldn't have bought it if I did.
I think I need to pay more attention to real world users like yourself versus those reviewers who probably get these lenses for free and/or don't work with them on a daily basis. From my research, I seem to have bought the newer version sigma but I'll keep a close watch on it now and watch for any dust. very disapointing but the bright side is I did buy last december when it was on sale for $899! so far it's been performing perfectly on my a74

Tamron's material quality is worse than Sigma and Sony. It is more plastic and prone to wear in many years of use. Other than that, if I had to choose between Tamron 28-75 G2 and Sigma 24-70 Art, it would definitely be Sigma. Because both lenses are very close to each other in optical quality and a better zoom range at 24 wide ends.
